Pandemic_AllRoles.zip (10 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
A complete listing of all the official and custom roles hyperlinked to the thread\post where I found them on BGG. Contains a tool to randomly select roles from the list for game playing (version 1.0).
Please add references to new (or missing) roles in file comments.
Wow! Nice job. Do you want me to point out spelling errors? Lastly, this'll be perfect if the archive could include a pdf with role cards (and appropriate art) for printing. Having said that, I'm not a graphics artist ...
A very impressive list, and I really like the fact that it can randomly choose roles for the players. for you. I made a geeklist similar to this idea over a year ago. I was hoping that if I made a geeklist of the roles, people would be able to talk about each role individually and we could get a general idea if the role was too powerful or too weak. It's a shame that it never really caught on. Obviously a lot of people have added roles to the geek since I made that list, so the geeklist is out of date, but maybe this file can get some life back into the geeklist. If you're interested, here is the geeklist.
Troy, Thanks for kind words. I have no problem with you pointing out spelling errors. I actually didn’t bother to run it through the spell checker . Too obsessed with the coding part and getting it done so I could use it for some of my solitaire games. Most of the text was hastily cut and paste from forums and I’m sure there are other improvements that can be made in the area of writing quality. I can’t claim to be the best writer myself so I welcome any help you provide.

I’m not a graphic artist either. If we could find one I would propose the following: 1) I would modify my file to display an image of the role card to the left hand side of the text for each role. 2) I would add the option to display images by themselves for easy printing or to hide them completely for those who want to print up just the text descriptions. 3) The artists among us would design the cards and post an appropriate size image to a free image serving site like imgur.com or maybe BGG images section though I don’t know what the policy is for direct links 4) The artist would then notify me (via this thread) that they have a card for role X and it is located at http://???.com. 5) I would then add the http link for the image to the appropriate section of this document for display next to the existing text for the role.

I did come across your geeklist at some point. In fact, the roles Dr. House M.D. and the Pantologist in my HTML file link back to you. I’m not sure why I just have those two since you obviously have more. It may be that some of them linked back to another thread? I’ll have to review to update. In any case, your geeklist may have planted the initial seed for a master list that I needed for the random selection tool so thanks.

I have seen some of this talk in the threads defining the custom roles. Someone will post and the next person will come along and say too weak or too powerful. The original poster will then modify the role in some cases. As far as your list goes, it is an neat idea, but I wonder how visible it is? If a new person signs up here today to create a custom role, they may be more than happy to put it up for a vote, but they most likely don't even know your thread exists. They might happen to notice mine since its sorted to the top of the file list. That won't be the case for long depending on how many submissions.
