A bunch of updates are pending approval, Version 1.8 is the latest one, you can also get it here until it is approved:

http://www.kaybee.org/kirk/LoTR_LCG_Cards_and_FAQs.pdf

I'll be out of town for a while, if an official FAQ comes out or the first expansion it may be a few weeks until I can update this.

Just plain beautiful. Love the format. I'm satisfied to use all the answers in this until the official FAQ comes out.

Thanks a ton for your efforts, they are appreciated.

You need to update the entry for Surge - although the rulebook doesn't mention it the official FAQ says Surge resolves in the set-up also.

Thanks,

And also doomed and guarded.
"Surge, Doomed, and Guarded keywords should be resolved any time the card on which they occur enters play, including during setup."

From Official FAQ:
6. Thalin - now "When an enemy card is revealed from the encounter deck, Thalin’s ability resolves before any “Surge” or “When Revealed” card effects on the encounter card." No doomed mentioning.

38. Stand Together - now "the defending player must assign all damage from that attack to a single defending character."

86. Despair - now "When a card effect removes progress tokens from a quest card, the effect applies specifically to the quest card, and never to the active location" But I think this doesn't works when adding (Rules, p.15 "Any progress tokens that would be placed on a quest card are instead placed on the active location.").

102. Nazgûl of Dol Guldur - now add "No attachments can be played on Nazgûl of Dol Guldur"

Thank you for your update!

Just amend Thalin description. The Official Rules don't mention Doomed keyword.

Great work!

24 - I think you could play all the Valiant Sacrifices you have in response to an ally leaving play, if you wanted to. For each card, you've met the cost and triggering condition, so each play will be legal. You just couldn't trigger the same copy of each card more than once per ally.

Some clarifications:

Mountains of Mirkwood does not trigger its "search top 5 cards of deck" if it was not active location when it was "explored". Even though the rules does not specifically say this, the definition of "explored" is in the last sentence of the paragraph (page 15 of rulebook) that describes how the active location works. As part of that paragraph (not an independent or separate sentence), "explored" location implies active location. Also, thematically, heroes cannot "explore" a location that they haven't travelled to.

Eleanor's response cannot be used during Setup because during setup the players have not yet begun for the players (page 10 of Rulebook). After #7 "Follow Scenario Setup instruction" paragraph, it says "Players then begin the game starting with the first game round". This implies that during setup the game has not begun for the players yet and so players cannot "play" anything yet.

Wrong. FAQ (1.18): A location card is immediately discarded from play
any time it has as many progress tokens as it has quest
points, whether it is active or not.

Wrong. FAQ (1.19): A player can trigger responses
during setup, following the normal game rules.

A small quibble with your interpretation of On the Trail (HfG 13): Your clarification makes it sound like every player needs to have a Clue card. This isn't true; you just need one player to have a Clue. Granted, it makes it more difficult to quest when some players aren't able to contribute.

Also note, you can't choose to lose the Clue attachments (in case you want to reset the quest so more players can help) voluntarily - if you want to reset the quest, you're gonna have to go get your Clue-bearers damaged.

A great product, Kirk! One minor quibble: now that Radagast is in the game, this description of Hero cards is no longer true and should be updated:

"Heroes are characters and are the only characters to have a resource pool." [emphasis added]

I got official answers regarding timing issues and combos, you might want to include them: http://boardgamegeek.com/article/8025973. Thanks!

Is anyone maintaining this document? Are there plans for another update?

Kirk Bauer, the original author, has been maintaining it but hasn't posted a new version since December or commented since November. Hopefully he's still willing to support it!

Hi guys, sorry for the delays. I do hope to get the next two packs done in the next few weeks, but we just had our first baby and things are a bit crazy with no time for playing games no less updating the doc.

If somebody else wants to take it over I would consider turning over the originals...

Can you tell us a little bit about what you did to keep it updated? Stuff from the official FAQ for sure, but where else were you getting your content?

Congrats on the little one. Future gaming partner perhaps?

I have an RSS feed for the forum here and on FFG and I just make sure that every question is covered by the FAQ, and if it isn't then I watch/participate until I get a satisfactory answer.

Actually, a this time the main thing I need help with is adding all of the new cards for the last SoM expansion and Khazad-dûm. If somebody is willing to help me catch up, or even add new expansions on an ongoing basis, it would be much easier for me to just keep up with the forums...

You might want to add the following ruling for the Athelas entry:

I have incorporated everything I have found on the forums, but of course if I missed anything please let me know.

The turn sequence is on my TODO list... I was kind of hoping to wait until the next FAQ on that one.

Kirk,

Congratulations on your child! You must be very busy indeed. Knowing how limited your time is makes us appreciate your longstanding efforts even more! Thank you so much for your help with this game.

It is a great resource.

Kirk, you name it as an "Unofficial FAQ" but actually, there are many clarifications that come from the official FAQ and Nate's answers. Would it be possible to distinguish (maybe using colour?) the official answers from the consensual ones, and maybe create an "edition" of your document with references/URL?

Many thanks for this.

Actually, I believe everything in it is officially confirmed except for 3 or 4 things I'm waiting for answers on. If it is from the FAQ I mention that, if it is unconfirmed I put that in there too, otherwise everything can be considered officially confirmed. Problem is that I didn't originally track the source of all of my notes (although I do a better job of that now). So it would be tough to go back and confirm for sure the source of everything...
