Age of Napoleon Rules.doc (91 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
The concepts underlying this game can be difficult to assimilate and rules formats that attempt to cover every possibility are list-like and tediously difficult to read. These rules are written in fluent prose explaining how the game works, how to play and what happens in each phase. Hopefully they will contribute to making AofN more accessible and playable. No attempt has been made to comprehensively cover every scenario but the intention is these should be used as the main rules in conjunction with the official V2 rules as a reference document for exceptions.

Updated with minor wording improvements and rule fix as per Coffeebikes correct summation that I had used the draft v2 rules rather than the final v2 rules in originally writing this doc.

Good job--have a thumb and some GG!

Please note, I think there is a small but important error in the second paragraph (defining Coalition minor victory) which reflects an error in the prepublication version of the rules:

"Note that the prepub 2nd ed rules posted on BGG ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/8490) have one typo corrected in the published rules: for the Coalition player to achieve a marginal victory, French control must be reduced to France and no more than ONE minor country (not THREE). Also, 13.1.3 incorrectly states "phase" instead of "round". The first erratum is fixed in the the "as published" v2 rules also posted on the Geek, but not the second though the second is actually also fixed in the printed rules."

See 6.2.1 of the correct, publication version of the 2nd edition rules here: http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/25429/aon-v2-main-rules-pu...

(Also I saw that Renaud Verlaque mentioned this rules correction in a reply to one of the threads here.)

Thank you.
