58th BOMB WING, B-29s in the CBI Theater - a B-29 SUPERFORTRESS variant.

This variant was first based on the Beta version of B-29 SUPERFORTRESS by Steve Dixon and Shawn Rife. It covers the period from April 1944 when the first B-29s landed in India and China and began the supply missions from India to the forward bases in China around the town of Chengtu, to the last B-29 mission from the China-Burma-India Theater on March 29, 1945.

Supply Missions can be flown from April 1944, but are included in this variant only as an option. The campaign begins in June 1944 and ends in March 1945. Most of the targets bombed by the 58th Bomb Wing are included and divided into three tables which each span over a few months, or a certain number of missions. It is also possible to fly mining missions. The mining missions in 58th Bomb Wing are not correctly simulated. They are either on or off target and treated as a U/A Mission on Table 6-6, Bomb Run and the Target Damage Sheet can be used to cross off boxes to determine how well an area has been mined. A mined area can also be cleared of mines and be mined again.

On Supply Missions from Calcutta to Chengtu the B-29 must fly over the Himalayas, ?The Hump.? Special rules are needed and a B-17: Queen of the Skies Player will see that they are similar to the Alps from 15th Air Force. Other mountainous terrain can be found in China, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia and Sumatra. Special rules for these lower mountain chains are also covered.

You must own B-29 SUPERFORTRESS to play 58th Bomb Wing.

It has been play-tested, but there might still be bugs and parts that must be deleted or improved. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find anything or have other questions. It is also available on Steve's site and has been for some time.

Sincerely,

Magnus K.
