Descent: Journeys in the Dark::
New idea to automate the Overlord making if full cooperative or solo playable v0.4
|
Descent Solo rules v0.4.pdf 66 KB
v0.1: Major change in the OL events. More different monster/traps/events
v0.2: Change of the wording that the rules are more understandable. Range fighters got a permanent range bonus
v0.3: Small change in the wording of "n * black dice" because in v0.2 it seemed that you have to start with 2 dice in the 1st round. Updated the description for traps.
V0.4: Traps/events are now also adjusted to the number of heroes.

Descent Augmented: Modular Variants by N.G. Martin (v0.9)
|
NGM_DA_v0.9.pdf 323 KB
From the introduction:
Rather than being a single ‘block’ variant, this is a compilation of modular, multi-tiered variant rules. The majority of these are original; others have been borrowed but significantly altered or expanded. The modules have various objectives in mind: some address Descent exploits, many address balance, some immersion; others, predictability; complexity; play time; and so on. DA modules assume that you are playing according to the latest official Fantasy Flight FAQ, and should be taken to overrule it wherever implied.
I decided on a modular format for DA because currently nearly all of the variants for Descent that are worth employing require a total game conversion. Many people will be understandably unwilling to go to such lengths. Modularity means DA can be applied as desired, in concert with Enduring Evil and other such sweeping revisions.
Where I have knowingly borrowed significant amounts of content from other variants, I have cited those variants as follows. If you are the creator of one of these variants, and I have misused your content, please let me know immediately.
Enduring Evil: [EE]
Fast Tactics: [FT]
German variant rules: [DE]
Most of the variant rules introduced in DA have optional facets (indicated by Roman numerals) that increase or decrease the complexity and scope of the rule as your group desires. I’ve attempted to quantify the advantage given to the Overlord or the Heroes (as compared to playing with vanilla rules).
These values are approximations generally based on subjective tests and playtesting, and should not be considered authoritative. If your group needs to weigh down the Heroes a bit, use modules that have a net “advantage: Overlord” effect to bolster the Overlord’s chances; vice-versa if the Overlord wins too often. In theory, modules of equal and opposite ranks should roughly balance each other out.
DA makes use of (but doesn’t require) the “Well of Darkness,” “Altar of Despair,” and “Tomb of Ice” expansions. DA does not make use of Road to Legend or any of the campaign rules.
For additional details and explanations for each module, please read the Descent Augmented FAQ.

Descent Parchment Overlord Mat v2.2
|
descent-Overlordmat-300dpi-8.5x11parch-v227.pdf 2.22 MB
This is a companion Overlord organizational mat (doc version 2.27, updated), to go with my "Descent Parchment Player Mat, v1.2" (uploaded separately here).
This update (v2.27) corrected the Demon & Dragon dice (thanks InyokaMadoda for pointing it out, stats corrected per http://www.descentinthedark.com/_m_/monsters.php).
And it also includes a tweak to the game title font.
The concept was inspired by refinery's "Descent Overlord Player Mat", I wanted a tighter fit, on 8.5x11 cardstock, and more information and reference material, along with the "medieval" woodblock printing style I used on the player mat. I also wanted a design that used less color ink ($$), and I wanted something that was a little less color-dependent for folks with color blindness.
Notes:
-The 'HP' column's x/y/z figures represent, the "2-3player/4-player/5-player" game values.
-The monster stats columns correspond to: "Name", "Attack", "Speed", "HitPoints", "Armor", "Dice", "Damage", "Range", "Surge", "Abilities" & "Set of Origin".
I use Adobe Reader 9 to print this out on 110# Letter-size cardstock, with "Auto-Rotate & Center", and "Fit to Printable Area"
Prior revisions (removed to avoid confusion):
- v2.23 corrects some typos and minor formatting issues.
- v2.24 corrects a typo on Overlord use of surges rolled during attack (2 surges =1 threat token, rather than a card draw), and also reflects some text clean-up
- v2.25 corrects: a)timing of OL discard phase; b)changed OL turn draw rate to reflect in-game turn, vs. setup draw.

Descent Tuckboxes for Sleeved Cards (In Progress)
|
Descent_Tuckboxes_sleeved_cards_v5.zip 7.11 MB
I am creating tuckboxes for all of the Descent cards designed to fit the cards if they are in protective sleeves. I own all of the expansions except for SoB, but looking at its component list it does not seem it will affect any of the boxes for the base set and all of the expansions.
These boxes will fit your cards if they are not sleeved, they will just be loose in the box instead of a snug fit. Also if you do not own all of the expansions there will be a bit of wiggle room as well.

There is a great deal of crossover between all of the Terrinoth games. Runebound, Descent, and Runewars have the same 12 starting characters except Descent which also includes the 8 characters from Island of Dread.
All of the Descent characters are present in Runebound expcept those from Well of Darkness. All of the Runebound characters are present in Descent except those from Midnight and the most recent release, Mists of Zanga.
Dungeonquest says on the box it's a game set in the Runebound Universe. The Dungeonquest game contains 6 characters with cards for Runebound, Descent and Runewars.

HVQ_New Descent Skill Cards_Wizardry.rar 2.42 MB
These are new Item and Skill cards, along with new Character sheets for Descent: Journeys in the Dark the Boardgame. Every card has new art and more information on the cards for reference. They are intended to be used for the Road to Legend expansion specifically but can be used in the normal game. I wanted to create a new way of organizing and equipping items similar to World of Warcraft the Boardgame. I also wanted the ability to make new cards, and or make adjustments to some of the originals, including fixes made by errata. You’ll notice that I took some liberties in this area. I changed some card names, added a few new cards, and made some small adjustments to others. The cards are also smaller, allowing for more room around the game table. Most of the art in these cards and character sheets was taken from several different Fantasy Flight board games and from thumbnail images found on the internet. I mixed and matched them with a lot of Photoshop manipulation and taking many liberties to make them unique and add my own touches. I did all of this as a personal project with no intention of any commercial gain. These Cards and Character Sheets print at 8 ½ X 11, 300dpi.
