6 Ikusa:: Shogun - Rules Summary
Submitted By: Benjamin Maggi
Samurai Swords - Rules Summary.doc 66 KB
Samurai Swords - v.1 Let's be honest. Shogun/Samurai Swords/Ikusa isn't a tough game to play. However, it can be intimidating for new players because it has so many rules and a turn-order structure that isn't always easy to pick up. And the army movement/add unit rules sometimes seem clunky. I don't get this game to the table as much as I like, so I wrote this rules summary so that when I open the box I can read one short[er] document and start the game. Instead of flipping through the long rule book I can just check this reference and go. Hope it helps! Note: This game incorporates the rules from Shogun and Samurai Swords (which I believe only had a few minor differences if any). If Ikusa added new rules (I am thinking of the turn order markers instead of the swords) this document may not contain everything.

14 Ikusa:: Ikusa Katana Template
Submitted By: Coldwarrior1984
Ikusa Katana Template.doc 768 KB
The newest release of this game, called Ikusa, did away with the little samurai sword turn order pieces. I thought that folks might miss or want to have the little swords again. Print these on heavy card stock, glue the back side, fold along the gray line and let them dry. Then, cut out the sword shape and laminate them. Use as turn order designators (as in the original game). Enjoy.

12 Ikusa:: Historical Scenaria (Total War)
Submitted By: Sworddancer
10-Historical-Scenario.pdf 23 KB
The English version of my historical scenario variant published in German before. (Translated by demand.) ;) This scenario was derived from the computer game "Shogun: Total War". I haven't had much chance to play-test this scenario. Basically, I just adapted it as good as possible from the computer game (without changing the basic rules of the game too much). Any suggestions are welcome!

6 Ikusa:: Setup and victory points variants
Submitted By: squash
Samurai Swords variants.doc 25 KB
The first variant allows players to utilize a more interesting and slightly less random province allocation process. The second variant is a very simple victory point system that allows players to customize/shorten the length of their games. It is a single page Microsoft Word document.

2 Ikusa:: VP-Shogun aka "Victory Point Shogun" from the Mile High Strategists
Submitted By: SFRR
VP-Shogun_v2_7.18.09.doc 33 KB
This is our version of VP-Shogun which includes a specified number of rounds = 2 + Number of Players (might want to set a minimum of 6 rounds for a three player game) with an OT (one extra round) rule for close games. Black mini poker chips for PVP's are easily found at www.dicepool.com, and we use large white plain poker chips with the "No Honor Gained - Peace" inscription in Japanese label on them for the "Peace" tokens.

4 Ikusa:: VP variant - two ways to win
Submitted By: RayGuns
Samurai_VP_variant.pdf 102 KB
Here is a simple variant for Samurai Swords that helps with those long games as well as addressing those player elimination situations. This variant was designed to be used in conjunction with the original Samurai Swords rules and it is not recommended that players use any other variant as this might offset the intended objective.

2 Ikusa:: 2 Player Variant (v.8)
Submitted By: grembinni
Shogun Rules.doc 63 KB
A 2 player variant that I've played with a friend about 25 times. Some changes include smaller player start up, neutral player, tax rates, and new ninja implementation. I was doing a cleanup on the rules and figured I put it out so that others could enjoy our version and give feedback on how to improve it. We really enjoy this style of play for 2 players. If I get the time I think this could convert into a solid 3 player variant as well. Looking to first solidify the core rules
