Patton's Best:: American M1917 (FT-17) Tank Card By: ZootSaxIsMyAxe
American-M1917-WW1-Tank-Cards.pdf (170 KB)
After playing a bit of World of Tanks, I whipped up a card for one of the earliest American tanks, which never saw any service in the Second World War. It can be a challenge (and/or an exercise in cowardice) to survive in it, but I had fun for a couple games with it and figured I'd upload it in case anyone else was interested. The main gun uses the standard M4 coaxial machine gun stats and all non-small arms fire against your M1917 will be again minimal armor (all the "To Kill" numbers at all ranges/aspects for the tank is "95"). Being a small tank, the +10 modifier would apply for shots against a M1917. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Patton's Best:: D-Company - Light Tanks and Light Tank Scenarios By: magnuzk
D-Company.zip (4.28 MB)
LIGHT TANKS AND LIGHT TANK SCENARIOS
The most common light tanks in the US Army were the M3 and M5 Stuart and the M24 Chaffee. This is a Light Tank Variant to Patton’s Best with the M5 Stuart and M24 Chaffee. It includes a Reccon Scenario and Screening Scenario.

The After Action Report Cards, Tank Cards and the details for the M5, M5A1 and M24 can be found separately.

Reccon Scenario
Your Light Tank Company (D-Coy) is sent on a reccon mission to scout for enemy troop locations, advance or withdrawal routes or advantageous positions. It will be the first type of mission you will find in this variant. The other are hidden in the game play and can come alive in the AARs or during the briefing by using your imagination. During the reccon mission your company is sent to scout for enemy troop locations and to estimate their strength. Battalion HQ already knows what the level of Enemy Resistance for the Day is after reports from the Cavalry Reccon Squadaron. What you need to do is to move into an area and locate the enemy and find how large force he has there. Avoid combat if you can and continue your mission until the day ends. If you follow up later with your medium tanks you will know automatically what the level of resistance is in the areas you have scouted. There is no need to wait 15 minutes for estimated enemy resistance.

Screening Scenario
D-Company is sent on a mission to find enemy reccon units and destroy them before they destroy you or find the location of your units. As in the Reccon Scenario, Battalion already knows the level of Enemy Resistance for the Day. What you need to do is to move into an area and locate and ambush enemy reccon units, but there is also a chance that they have seen you and ambush YOU.

I have play-tested this only a few times so there might be buggz here and there. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Patton's Best:: SS Units in Patton's Best By: magnuzk
SS Units in Pattons Best.doc (98 KB)
Here is a suggestion of how to use SS units in Patton's Best. I have not included a way to determine whether or not a unit is SS, but perhaps use a die roll before the day begins if the units you will encounter are SS.

It's been a couple of years since I tried this, but I think it works.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Magnus.

Also...

Keep your eyes open for "D-Company - Light Tanks Scenarios in Patton's Best" which I'll upload in a couple of days.

Patton's Best:: Guderian's Best v3 By: Forensicman
Guderians Best pdf v3.zip (2.91 MB)
Version 3 of my Russian Front variant of Patton's Best, 1941-1945. Play single day actions or campaigns of various lengths, commanding PzIII, PzIV, Panther, Tiger or King Tiger tanks. 50+ Soviet units represented. This version (Dec 2012) includes data cards for Soviet units, generic enemy Tank, SPG and ATG counters (so less stuff to cut out), and many modifications to the earlier tables, rules etc. Too much new stuff to mention here; check out the documentation. A Cyberboard program of this version is also available.

GB D100 v2b.zip (56 KB)
In response to Chase Russet's posting on this page here's my D100 (percentile dice) variant of version 2b of Guderian's Best. It makes as much use of the original board and tables as possible. So what we have here is a variant of a version of a variant of an original game. (We are supposed to be "geeks" after all!). Unfortunately, I don't have the time to updated this to verion 3 at the moment.

Patton's Best:: Patton's Best Variant - It was Only the Wind... By: Jude
PattonsBest-It WasOnlyTheWind.pdf (28 KB)
It was Only the Wind... Adding Dummy Markers to Patton's Best is a variant I wrote that adds more uncertainty to the identification of enemy units on the Battle Board. A few markers (blank counters, buttons, chips, or coins, for example) will be needed in addition to the game components to play this variant.

Patton's Best:: Patton's Best Variant - Late-Model Soviet T-34's By: ZootSaxIsMyAxe
Soviet-LateModel-T34-Cards_For-BBG-Upload_v-1.xls (67 KB)
I was reading a book about Soviet tank crews and started to wonder how hard it would be to add new units to "Patton's Best". The answer turned out to be "not as bad as I feared" although this is very much a work in progress. Included are cards for a T-34/76 Model 1943 and a T-34/85 Model 1944 as well as the necessary rules & tables to play with them. My knowledge of the T-34 is limited to seeing museum pieces & reading books, so I tried to list my assumptions as much as possible. Nothing seems too unreasonable, I hope. Comments and suggestions are more than welcome. I could certainly use the help...

On a side note, I wasn't sure whether including top and profile images of the tank here would violate any copyrights so my cards include only shaded place holders instead of images similar to the game cards. I found appropriate images, very easily on both Google & Bing image searches so hopefully this won't be a problem for anyone to do on their own. When I tried it myself, I got pretty good looking images inserted into the spreadsheet with only a minute or two of actual work. ...and if I'm worrying over nothing, I can upload a file with images later.

Also, feel free to use my Excel sheet format to make new tanks if you're so inclined. It's not nearly as imposing as it first appears (especially if you take as many liberties as I probably did) :)
