Description

[Edit] [History]

A highly sought-after game with mechanisms similar to those in Settlers of Catan.

In this game, each player is the CEO of a multinational oil corporation and can drill for oil, pump crude oil, refine the oil into gasoline, and sell finished gasoline to the high-demand consumer market. The players also have the option to seek their fortunes by playing the commodities markets of domestic and foreign gasoline and oil. In addition to marking areas for production, doubles on the die rolls affect the economy, either shifting prices up or down based on the current status on the economic curve. News events also hit players by either rewarding or penalizing for holding commodities or facilities.

With fabulous little plastic pieces to represent the various facilities, this game certainly is a sight to behold. However, the game has a tremendous luck element which has earned it a very checkered reputation.

Originally published in the USA under the title Crude.
