I'm sure that there are alot of games that people rate alot higher than you. You despise the game and bring it up in every list that you can.

What about the games that aren't so well accepted? You love them and many groups just don't get it.
Here is your chance to champion that game that most people seem to be indifferent about or just plain don't like.

What are we missing?

Maybe because the vast majority of my joy in this game was all in my imagination.

What you're missing: actually playing it for 5 minutes. The game has results tables that determine where you shoot your target, what the extent of his wounds are, and then where he staggers, stumbles, and ultimately flops down - like in those corny old westerns.

This game DEMANDS a remake with plastic minis, and a streamlined process (oh and some maps that are more than three shades of dirt).

I presently own 5 copies. Why? Because if one shows up on EBay, I MUST HAVE IT.

Ranked a 5.74 here on the Geek. Got my whole group hooked on this game, quick, fun and a lot of "take that." Remember, the first time we played with my buddy Dan, it was about 12:30 am and we played this until about 1:15 because Dan wanted to win, I think in that time we played 3 games. If you haven't tried it, you don't know what you are missing.

I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You're wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.

Fightball would be my first answer to the question, but, as ynnen already added that one, this is another game I rate 8 and which have a BGG rating at least 1 1/2 point lower (currently it's 6.15).

I think this is a very good party game, definitely the one I enjoyed the most playing (and I usually don't like party games). When you play with a group of people you know well it really shines (because you usually have an idea of what they will answer to the questions you ask, but there are always some surprises...)
There are only 16 "topic" cards, but DaVinci has provided on their site the topics to fill the additional 8 blank cards. After you fill them, the game longevity (i.e. repeated game plays) really improves.
Of course, the game requires creativity from the players to be enjoyable, so if you don't like that type of games, tough luck. (Much similar to "Once Upon A Time", another game I rate higher than the BGG average).

this widely despised game isn't actually a game, and most of the time it just seems like ridiculous tripe. BUT... once, 3 friends and I decided to try taking it seriously and to dedicate ourselves for one hour to embodying the intended spirit of play. We played for 5 hours, during which there was a sort of magical change in the way we interacted with one another. I don't know quite how to describe it... we became, I guess, intimate and unguarded, unafraid to talk about the really important stuff that gets lost in the frey of our daily concerns, or washed away by our compulsion to make fun of things. the experience stuck with us for *years* afterward. We never "played" the ungame again, I suppose for fear that the magic would not be recaptured.

We play this one all the time. The wife and I actually enjoy playing two player while we're watching TV, and the grandkids and I love the 4 player version. We sometimes take two Gunslingers out of the deck (as is suggested by the company's "house rules" section of their website), but we always have a good time.

Great game for five or six players, filled with delicious tension as the turn progresses around the table: will he play in on my side? Is my battleship going to get pinged by a fate card? I think that many people are put off by the complexity of the cards, which include 'suit', date, ocean, fate... Also, of course, OOP and expensive when you find it.

Truly my biggest delta, even though the math does not add up. (then again I am not rating by 1/10 points either)

This game holds the highest place in my favorites for a few reasons.
One: The subject. My memories of the movie,(first one) and where it stood at that time and place of my life ranks very high in my "good ol days".

Two: Minis' I love painted bits

Three: The cards. First card based mini game I have liked. Love having a hand, and only 2 actions. Most of these type of "card" games used to rely on flip the next card. What was up was what you played and you could not "plan" or coordinate an attack. By having 2 "actions" Draw 2, play 2, or draw and play one gives enough "planning" to the game without the uber hands required by the Magic following. Dice for movement adds a little variance and as each character has a level of "taking the hit". You can choose to defend, or take the hit to wait for the next turn to hit back. The cards have enough of a difference to allow multiple plays in a hand and add to specific characters the special (via the movies) abilities that make sense.

The dark side is powerful.

Can play multiple games in a night, get some bad card draws, and some good ones, but team play makes for a good evening of fun for 4 people. Even though you can play with more, larger than 4 needs a bigger board. (thus keeping it from a 10.... I have yet to find the "perfect" game)

Most complaints are that it's a mix of mechanics that falls flat. I disagree. I think it has a great auction mech. What is interesting is the fact that auction is progressive through out the game. So many interesting desecions to make. A great tradeoff game. I think the fact that it's not readily available anymore really hurts it. But I'm a fan!

Here's my pick. A very fun auction game which has a great wrinkle. On your turn to auction items, you get four. You get to keep the money for all the tiles you sell but when you take one (it's once 'round bidding with the option of you taking the item for free after everyone else has bid) you pass the role of auctioneer to the person on your left. So the idea is to auction off the first 3 tiles for the money, which is VERY tight in this game, then take the last item for free. The thing that I love about this game though is if you put something up for auction and nobody bids on it, you HAVE to take it and you're no longer the auctioneer.

I have only three games in my collection that rated 2+ high than the BGG average: Sorry! (7 vs 4.56), Stay Alive (7.5 vs 5.13) and Pinochle (9 vs 6.72). I'm not too surprised that Sorry and Stay Alive are rated low, they're standard MB/PB games with high luck factors, but I enjoy them. I am surprised that Pinochle is rated below a 7. This is truly a great trick taking game, IMO the best of them. Maybe many of the low ratings are from people who haven't played it enough to appreciate the subtle strategies and nuances of the game. I don't understand it...

Not a well liked system and yet it makes a great single blind game. I taught my significant other how to play it. She liked the set up phase and the play phase but liked to split it up over a couple of days so that it wasn't so intense. I liked it as well. We'd play the game while slow cooking something in the crockpot (often chili) and had an enjoyable time. I haven't played the game in ages but I wouldn't be against playing it. We've been going through the scenarios in Ambush and playing them cooperatively and that has been a blast. I have all the modules and it will take us a few years to get through all of the missions.

OK, OK, So the mechanics are a bit broken, but with a few house rules and a massive 3d map with figures, this game is great fun. We had great fun with Aliens v Predator mods and capture the flag games. Not for "serious" play, but definitely underrated from a fun point of view; I rate this an 8.

Beat me for it but I just dang love this game!
Pure strategy and tactics packed in the unusual way of playing a CCG-like game with cards.
Well, OK, a little luck is always included in dice games. The best constructed army in a champs hand doesn't win if he gets only bad rolls, but that hardly happens.
This game is definitely worth a second look (for those who were scared away by the shitty rules those days, which have been reworked very well) or a first look for those who don't know it yet.
A MUST FOR EVERY FANTASY, DICE, and STRATEGY FAN!

Now, bind me to the pole! **LOL**

A small variant gives this game a bit of strategy: players play a card from a hand of cards instead of the top card of the deck.

I played this quite a bit with a girlfriend of mine. We even invented our own deck using playing cards. If I can ever get someone else "into" this, I might actually produce a made-up deck on the computer.

Easily a 7.5 in my book.

Pure sillyness - with a little bit a placement strategy thrown in!!

Great game to play at the end of a long evening of 'Serious' games - the knack to being able to win is to unbalance the the thing as much as possible whilst at the same time gaining points.

If you normal play bores you - try playing the

'Outside on a windy day' variant

I love this game. It's a party game disguised as a wargame. If you play with people who are averse to stripping naked when the Ghost Wind comes around, or repeating phrases in pig latin 30 times, it may not succeed. But strategy games that can make you laugh out loud are rare.

Scotland Yard is a great tense game for two players. Most of the low ratings say Mr X almost always gets away which makes me think that the rater and those they play with have not figured out much about playing the cops. With two players (one player having all five cops) it is faster and a real challenge for Mr X (winning 10% or so).

Incidentally I don't make the cops move in a particular order. That is a smallish rules bend.

This is my game which has the biggest difference in my rating (10) to the game's average rating (6.0 exactly). In fact I'm the only one that rates this a ten.

I believe that this is the perfect gateway auction game, very tense and fun. I've introduced this to many people and other than my father in law who doesn't like games, everyone else has. Women loved it, some said that it felt like shopping. Unfortunely it's probably hard to get now. I got it brand new for $2 at goodwill, my greatest deal.
