Have you ever seen those advertisements on bulletin boards or telephone poles, where someone is selling a car, and has 10 strips with phone numbers, for others to rip off, take home, and call? This is an electronic version of that for those who want to play a certain game(s) on VASSAL, Cyberboard, or live on SKYPE, but can't find an opponent.

I'd like to put this list out monthly, just to keep it fresh.

Games are listed alphabetically. If a game is already there, go ahead and add it again.

If you wish to add a game, please include your playing preference: live (please list day/time) or PBEM. To save yourself from spamming, I wouldn't write my e-mail address here. Instead, find your opponent and exchange this information in Geekmails.

If you have a suggestions to improve this list, please put them in the comments section so that I can incorporate them into next month's list.

Teach? Yes, to a limited degree. I've only played this a few times.

Expertise: One game Vassal live, two games Vassal PBEM (one on-going)

Prefer the Tannenberg scenario to the Galicia scenario.

Format: VASSAL. Ideally live, PBeM or mixture possible
Teach: Haven't played in far too long, part of the point is going to be re-learning this. So I'd like to avoid teaching.
Expertise: Played a bit a long time ago.

Just started playing with the VASSAL module. It's been over a decade since I've gotten this game out. Hell, it's not too far off of two decades at this point. I'd like to work through some of the scenarios to work back up to playing this one.

PBeM is fine, but it's interactive enough that live VASSAL play is probably better (or more likely a mixture of both). My schedule is pretty flexible.

I'm playing a scenario PBEM right now. I find the game works well with that format, and it's been fun. My opponent is well versed in the rules, which is helpful as it's a learning game for me. Fun game.

Good luck,

Chris Buhl

extreme jealousy.
I just sorted the counters, skimmed rules and sighed. Remembered the good old days when this would be on the table for a haltingly bad solo effort, then down to the pub , I mena club to recruit an opponent.

Man, solo would be hard with this. You'd have to do A LOT of forgetting which VC units were politicos, which were brigades, etc.

When I've tried it, remembering exactly which was which was tough still. But it was impossible not to remember at least roughly whee the big units were. Even if you didn't remember exactly which counter it was, that was hard to work around.

I got a really full slate, but I have created a (mostly-completed) tutorial file and have a couple of complete games I can send your way. Just send me a Geekmail with your real e-mail (since Geekmail cannot handle attachments).

I can probably direct you to a couple of gentlemen that are really good players and active in this. It's my favorite games and I have 25 of them under my belt, but I got a huge backlog of VASSAL going on.

If they'd update the vassal module for the newer games (or at least answer the question when I post in the game forums here and on CSW), I'd be jumping on this in a heartbeat. Maybe sometime in the spring we can get one in even it it's only EG or B&B or some such?

I wish my PBEM plate was not so full as there are some great games here! Argh! Oh well...maybe some other time?

We need to figure out a way to get more hours in the day. And remove sleep as a required state of existence.

I just want to say, God, on behalf of all of us thank you for all of the good things we do in your name, like charity and forgiveness. That’s an idea we would never come up with. That’s for sure. You know that better than anybody.
