...is a shedding game (see def. below).

In order to add a new mechanic to the official BGG list, one must send an email to the admin skelebone with at least 50 recognized games that use the mechanic. I really think "Shedding" should be on the mechanisms list. "Shedding" is a term usually applied to card games in which one is trying to get rid of all their cards, but it can be applied to any sort of game where your goal is to get rid of a certain type of thing you start with. A player may be getting rid of their cards, killing off their own pieces, spending all their money, finishing all their tasks, losing all their points, etc. A player may win by being the first to go all the way down to zero, or by being the player with the least such items left when the game ends due to some other condition.

A little clarification however: in many games, your object may be to finish tasks, but this does not necessarily make it a shedding game. Example: Ticket to Ride: your goal is to complete certain railroads, but you do not win in the end based upon being the first person to have finished those tasks, nor do you win by having the fewest tasks left uncompleted at the end. In this case (and many others), finishing the tasks is not the ultimate goal, but merely a means towards accumulating points.

So what's this list about then? (As if you haven't already guessed.) You see, I'm not very good at thinking up specific examples when I actually need to, so this is where I need your help. You add games to the list (that are NOT already listed) that use the shedding mechanism and I give you at least 0.42GG per game. A little text in the comment box describing how shedding plays into that particular game, aimed at someone who's never played before, would be helpful.

So should you stop after the list reaches 50?? NO! I may stop awarding GG at that point, but going over 50 never hurts, esp. since one of the first 50 listed may be rejected by admin as belonging to this category.

UPDATE: some items on the list so far are questionable, so we definitely need MORE than 50 games on the list to ensure that we have at least 50 that qualify.

Update #2: In case you missed Item no. 72 of the list, which was not actually meant to be counted as belonging to the list, but merely being an annoucement, the part which concerns you is the fact that I promised to continue to give tips as long as this list has breath in it, but they will be smaller and smaller,
possibly even to the point of being a mere 0.01 GG (but that would only happen if the list went super-nova-size). BUT, if we reach 105(there were 5 items that were definitively rejected (one being my own announcement) oh, plus that duplicate entry, so the goal is actually 106 b/c 106 would be when we would have 100 real games on the list (assuming there are no additional rejections between then and now)) I will use a random number generator to pick a number between 76 (that is the next empty spot at this point in time) & 106 [inclusive] and give the contributor of that item a hefty bonus. If it turns out that the number I choose corresponds with an item I reject, I'll start up the generator a second time. I'll continue to do that for any other landmarks this list hits, in perpetuity (or something).

Ok, I'll start us off...

You are penalized by having to draw more cards...

Play continues until there are no more cards left to draw from the deck (including the upturned trump card), at which point it is a race to get rid of all the cards. The last player to do so is declared the 'Durak' - the fool - and at the discretion of all players may face some type of forfiet.

The goal is to run out cards.

From Game Entry:

"This is a repackaging of the public domain game known variously as: Scum, President, Corporation, Asshole to name a few. It has the same climbing mechanics as The Great Dalmuti, Frank's Zoo, and Tichu. The face cards have been replaced with animals with value from 1 to 13. A board has been added that is simply a big score board.

From the family of oriental "climbing games", the public-domain version of Scum is similar to Big Two but has significant differences.
Due to its popularity amongst students, many house rules have been developed."

"Dai Fugō (大富豪 - "very rich man"), which was formerly more often known as Dai Hinmin (大貧民 - "very poor man") is a Japanese card game of the "climbing" group. As in all these games, the aim is to get rid of all one's cards before the other players by playing them singly or in combination. It seems likely that the game was introduced from China in the 1970's. It became popular throughout Japan in the 1980's and 1990's, and during this time numerous additional rules and variations were introduced. It seems likely that some early version of Dai Hinmin was the direct ancestor of President, which became popular in the West a few years later. The basic game will be described first, followed by a selection of variants."

So as I was reading a card game's description, I noticed that it was listed as belonging to the "shedding games" FAMILY. Huh, so, dunno if the admins will accept this as a mechanism or not (personally I think it's more of a mechanism that a family, and they also could have the redundant option of having "shedding" as both a mechanism and a family, we'll see... But this doesn't there's no point in adding more games. I'm not done handing out GG yet. The amounts will go down as the item #s go up, and then maybe later tonight I'll email the admins.

and no, the game "oh no" is not actually meant to be a valid entry to the list, it is not a shedding game.

This is one of the staple fillers for me and my gamers, though we know it by another name. (S***head)

The entire premise it to shed your hand of cards in order to not be the last one holding cards.

First you work through the deck maintaining 3 in your hand, then clear your 3 face up cards and then hopefully your 3 face down cards too. Game runs until one player is left. In some versions of the rules this player will deal next as their forfeit, though I've been playing this since college and have seen many different forfeits incurred for being the S***head!
