This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Thrift Store/Bargain Finds List Wayback Machine: The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly lists through time. He is also adding stats and interesting tidbits for us thrifty geeks. Your Thrift Store Bargain Finds Through Time (with links to all previous lists)

Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King HakFoo I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings belial1134, Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
Dropped by a VV on the way to a friend's house earlier this week. I was looking over the shelf and was distracted by an "Active Over 50" set of games. And by "active", I mean "here's a new set of noise cancelling headphones, son" kind of active, with Strip Poker being one of the games in the box.
I'm contemplating bringing it home and risking the ire of my wife when my hand quickly darts to the right and comes back holding Tsuro. A bit pricey, but the innards are completely covered in gravy. Or is is still ludicrous? It's been a while -- I'm not sure I'm up on the current vernacular. Pierced by an apple? Holding the sugar bowl?
Whatever, the game is opened but the contents are still in their original packaging.
As I already have a copy, this will likely make its way to my sister's kids.
Lunchtime yesterday had me run an errand, and along the way, why not stop at some thrifts? Amazing how my errands always bring me to the vicinity of one.
At this Salvation Army store, which has been lackluster of late, I finally, FINALLY, spot a game worth picking up. Again, it's one I already have, having received this in trade from a great Geek who I can't name, but her initials are
A most generous and fantastic geek if ever there were one.
I'd like to find something new, but when the collection gets to a certain size that becomes harder and harder. Oh, and the selection in the area verily sucks of late. But it seems to be getting better.
After a log dry spell... I find Kill Doctor Lucky Directors Cut under a monopoly game at Goodwill. 99cents. They also had 2 print and play games in plastic bags I passed on (after seeing the reviews!). Sad, but this made me so happy! I was almost gonna stop thrifting.... nah
22nd and Kolb. Just stopping after work and got lucky. This store has not had anything new in some time. I almost thought they stopped putting stuff out.
Made a lunchtime thrift run and stopped at 2nd Act Thrift in Xenia. They haven't had much lately, but I got this unopened travel version for $2 to replace the big box version that I sold last year.
Missed out on a Battleground Crossbows & Catapults for 99 cents by maybe a minute. Ouch. At least it was being purchased by a young boy that I'm sure will enjoy it, based on his careful examination of the game, and that he was willing to give up his own money to get it, which I could tell was alot to him based on his discussion with his mother.
Then I saw Stop Thief which I haven't seen before..but the battery ate away the electronic unit. Sigh.
So this is all I ended up with (for board games at least). Edition pictured, complete, in great shape. $1.99 Savers
Got my haircut across the street from the thrift shop, so I popped in. Found this without the original package, but inside of the black storage box. It was never played, as all the pieces still had the "display" screen protectors on them.
Booted them up and works perfectly! Fun little game, but may flip it, since it was only $3.
First time seen in the wild. 99 cents Goodwill. Box surface near perfect except for slight dishing to the top accompanied with a 4 inch fingernail-like indentation. All the pieces are there.
Grabbed this yesterday on the way home. Many games and puzzles put out since the morning run, but this was the only one to grab.
I've always pictured the box for this game bigger. But thanks to the Hugh Jass capital letters on the box it was easy to spot.
I like these dice too. I don't think I've actually played the game in the instruction booklet, but it's a good setup for liar's dice, and the dice are great to pirate for other stuff.
I finally find a traditional hex-and-counter game about the American Civil War after a dry spell of at least five years... and it has to be this title?
I kept finding the same copy of Bazaar that was missing most of the pieces at a local thrift. I would forget & then get excited each time I visited. I'd still check the box hoping it was a "different" copy & magically all the pieces were returned. Alas, finally I couldn't take it any longer & broke down & bought the new printing. Congrats on finding it & being more patient than me!
My parents only ever bought Pepsi growing up (with the exception of Sprite) I tasted Coke for the first time in high school and I've been a cokehead ever since.
The numbers 80, 223, 288 and 699 are the winning tickets in last week's Thrifty Lottery.
