This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King HakFoo I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings belial1134, Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
Not what it used to be, but this one is in fantastic shape. $0.99 at GW
$0.99 @ GW....NIS.!!..seriously...I know my shrink and this thing must have sat in the back of someones closet for the past 40 years because this sucker was BRAND NEW!

Yes, Grandes Saldos is a retail blowout, and all games are 50% off, unfortunately there is not much that is really worth it. This year I've already picked up some Alturiens, Risk, Boggle, Things... at very good prices. But that's about it.
It kinda was for me too, but it'll need some work to complete. So it's not quite there yet. Need to fix (pin) a couple of the masts and get the missing minis.
Me too I got a Yahtzee Junior thrifted today - or Kinder-Kniffel as its of course in German. Mine was more expensive at 2 Euros I hope I can use it on the gaming events with mentally handicapped persons I host weekly . Then it would serve some purpose. I do not like Yahtzee myself but well one must think a bit different.
I always thought this game looked kind of interesting. I think the kids will have fun playing with magnets. The insides don't appear to have been touched. The box is in decent shape with a little tape residue that I'll clean off. But for $1 it was worth a few plays.
I saw one at the Goodwill in bloomington yesterday.
I always wanted to try it out and have been looking for a copy for a couple years now, but after some considerable deliberation (over a $2 game ) I decided I didnt need another game I would probably only play a couple times taking up room in my apartment.
Thanks for leaving it for me I have a few 50% off coupons so for a dollar I went for it.
No sense in hoarding something if I am personally not going to use it.
I know a ton opf people here thrift simply for resale and I suppose that has some merit, if for no other reason than to make it more widely available to those abroad that might want it.
But I just cant buy a game anymore unless I know I am going to play it or one of my friends was looking for it.
Let me know what you think of it Rick. I still want to try it just for the novelty.
Are you going to MBGM on Saturday? I'll bring it if you are.
My 5 year old and I just got done with a game. It took her a bit to get placement figured out and I had to remind her a few times go slow, but it was pretty fun. Those magnets certainly penalize you if you don't pay attention.
I might, but not to game, sadly. I have been trying to catch up with Kristi forever now to give her some money for games and we never seem to be able to cross paths.
On a business trip to Chicago area, I popped into a nearby Bibles for Mission Thrift (don't know what that means) but in a fair size stack of games I see an M that looks kinda like the Mayfair logo and it is a 1993 Mayfair game. I didn't know the company had been around that long.
I got it even though it's not very well rated, since it says it plays up to 10 and the card decks inside are still in shrink. $3.
EDIT: Interestingly Mayfair has been around since the early 80's, though reorganized and is in Chicago area! So no wonder I found a few of their games!
Fortunately I play with some very creative people. I'll see if we can make a couple house rules to improve the play. I am interested in it since it plays so many and game nights just seem to be growing and growing.
If I find a way I will talk about it in the next Meeplechase podcast.
From the Makers of UNO seems like a questionable marketing decision . It reminds me of those movie trailers that start "from the mind of M. Night Shyamalan...".
I have to disagree, it's all about name recognition. Stun came out in 1986 and Uno was huge then (heck, still is today) so why not stick the Uno name on there.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Uno brand name (in all of it's forms) have made more money than all of Shymalan's movies (adjusted for inflation, of course

The Makers of Uno are not marketing games to our demographic.
