While I have seen a few conatical lists out there. Rather than just create another canonical list, I would be interested to see what games everyone is most looking forward to from this Nuremburg. I did the same for Essen and it seemed to work quite well.

The field is sparse this year, however, but I would still be interested in everyone's entries and comments.

Somehow a game about Donkeys and pooping just appeals to me.

I can see this one becoming a cult favorite, that many will play just for shits and giggles.

Between this and Essen's Pecunia Non Olet, there's a distinctly scatological bent to gaming the last few months...

But you're right, this might be a hoot to pull out once in a while. I never thought I could see myself betting on the colour of donkey poop, but it just goes to show that the imagination of German game designers is limitless, accusations of pasted-on theme notwithstanding. goo

This one seems to be slightly reminiscent of Fische Fluppen Frikadellen, but instead of trading for fetishes (heh, I said Fetish), you're trading for shrunken heads...ads....and that's just strange enough to appeal to me on theme alone.

The word trade was a relative term meaning "trade in for". Which is what you do. You trade in pearls for heads.

Quote:

Fiji is a 'super auction game' in which the players offer natives fake pearls in exchange for shrunken heads

FAKE pearls. Trading FAKE pearls for shrunken heads... Now THAT'S something. I'm gonna get this one no matter what.

I mean--defrauding and taking advantage of a primitive culture's lack of guile to obtain their murder trophies, WOW.

It seems to have actions based on cards, with the most powerful cards giving you one (or more?) "crocodile tokens" (representing you devoting to Sobek, the Crocodile God, granting supernatural powers). For example: a card gives you a LapisLazuli (presumibly a resource of some sort to be spent during the game), while another card gives you two but also a "crocodile token".
The player with more "crocodile tokens" when game ends is eliminated.

Suggested age is 8+ and DoW aims mainly to families, so probably this will be a light game... but I hope it is interesting enough for "gamers" as well.

Granted to have excellent (three-dimensional!) bits.

Someone should seriously tell Reiner to STOP.....many of us are going broke....

While the mechanics seems to have absolutely NOTHING to do with the card game ( and that doesn't matter to me anyway), the gameplay does sound like a decent majorities game with nice character powers thrown in.

Tons of nice fantasy veneer makes this one a winner to me.

This is a placeholder for the travel edition.

Travel Blokus has been a winnder since day one, and as much as I love the full size version of this one, I cannot envision this not being good. Built in scoreboard and tile holders, along with slots to hold the pieces in place.....even comes with a bag for random tile draw like ti's full size cousin...

While Kramer is my favourite designer, and his name alone put a game on my watch list, the game itself CAN leave the list (recently happened with "Celtica" and some months ago with "That's life!", both K&K games).
But this one seems quite promising...
