This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Thrift Store/Bargain Finds List Wayback Machine: The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly lists through time. He is also adding stats and interesting tidbits for us thrifty geeks. Your Thrift Store Bargain Finds Through Time (with links to all previous lists)
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Hakfoo I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings Belial, Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.

I haven't done much thrifting of late but in honor of Presidents Day my beloved and I hit some stores today. I passed on decent copies of Axis & Allies: 1942 (I don't do war games) and Scotland Yard (deduction games are a tough sell.) My previous copy of Bottle Topps was missing the bottle and inspired my celebrated DIY DVONN.
This one is complete and will not be cannibalized for its highly coveted bits. I did note that the quality of the wooden disks in terms of their finish is not of the level of the previous copy. About half of the disks are red and the edges are sharp rather than smooth. The previous copy's disks were glossy compared to the one I found today.
Was ecstatic to see this on the shelf at Savers. Looked beautiful. No scratches or dings (really happy to see this Savers moving to rubber bands instead of tape). Undid the bands to look inside and saw this puppy was UNPUNCHED! Can I have a "Yeah Baby!!!?" I did a little dance in the aisle and then I caught a wiff of the inside. Whoo...Smoker central. What do I use to remove the decades of smoke smell? I'm sure you have a solution for me.
I have been on the lookout for this for a long time and was happy to find it at Goodwill for $2. Unfortunately it was woefully incomplete - missing all the minis and a few other parts. It may have enough to play with other figures, so I'll have to check the rules. Oh, and the boxes on this game don't like tape much. Yeah, yeah, hairdryer - I know. Too lazy, too much in a hurry to open that box!
Once again Bert & Ernie join us our thrifting adventure. Alas not much in the way of goodies these week but there are a few morsels to feast on. Two sets set off to the nacker yards both were only $1.99 and both complete. Found at various locations (two to be exact) in and about the Valley of the Sun.
I went back to the Savers in Phoenix where I found Nightmare II last week. This week they had Nightmare III. Aparently this is the one that every fan boy lusts after due to a certain actress that plays the role of the witch in this one. Every listing I looked on E-Bay and Amazon seems to mention her in the title. Complete and in excellent condition. $2.99
Pente - Red Tube - In the Shrink. Yes Virginia the End Cap does exist and its black in color! ALthough someone broke the shrink at the top and pushed the end cap down into the tube a little bit, its still there! I taunt all of you unbelievers out there! I tell you it exists!!!$2.99 at GW in Surprise.
59 cents at Baras Thrift, edition pictured. Game was opened, but complete and cards look new and still have the new "snap." I don't think it was played much, if at all, as most of the cards were in sequential order.
Edition pictured - 1985 Edition. All 600 cards are there (this took a long while to inventory) but there is staining on a bunch of the charts. It looks like it is complete. It came with its own rebate - Four pennies (and four wooden yellow risk cubes too)). The box has a couple of tears on it too. The price was $2.99 at GW in Surprise.
