Just stumbled onto this Geeklist through the Africana page...a game i really hope to play one day.
Will try to comit a few posts in the future. Hopefully that brightens those gray mondays ;-)!

Got Blood Bowl on Thursday. Read through the rules on Friday and played two two-players games on Saturday afternoon/early evening.
We both loved it instantly. Seems to have good replay value out of the box.
Lets see how it holds up over time.
Cant wait till next weekend with Race for the galaxy waiting for its first round!

Cheers to all fellow gamers!

Finally after getting the majority of my parts found over christmas (by my wife and my brother), I was able to play!

It was well worth the wait, and it was just as fun as I remember (even though I died in the objective room). There's still some clean up on the parts to be done (and a lot of painting) but it's playable.

We were also able to play a couple of old stand-bys

My wife did not feel like partaking in Dungeon Run so my 7 year old and I decided to try a quick two player jaunt. It didn't work out the way we wanted. Every roll was an encounter with no treasure and I don't think we hit the boss once, it was a feeble attempt on our part. It didn't help that I put all my points in Brawn and then we get a boss that is immune to Brawn attacks. We finally gave up and cursed the boss and said we'd get them next time.

I finally got a couple games of this in. Man, this game is AWESOME!! I only played two player, and I am looking forward to playing three player.

Also, I played probably about 10 games of 2 de Mayo with my friend at Barnes and Noble while our wives shopped.

Finally I played about a dozen games of Timeline: Inventions on the iPad. This is such a fun little game. I love the game Chronology, and the app for this is super.

All in all, a good gaming weekend. I got to do some snowshoeing too, which was just icing on the cake.

With two daughters under the age of 2, my wife and I have to plan out a game night in advance. Saturday night, my brother was able to come over, and we sat down for our first play of the new Japan Power Grid map. It was a close game throughout, with my wife squeaking out the tie-break victory. All three of us liked the map.

That afternoon, while the girls were napping, I was able to do a solo run-through of Memoir '44. Hopefully I'll be able to get that one into our rotation soon.

Saturday:
In the Year of the Dragon
We bought this last summer, played it three times, and haven't played it since! We were surprised how fast the game went, and how it didn't feel as complicated as when we first learned it last summer. I got an early advantage over my wife after the plague hit her twice in a row early in the game. She lost a lot more people than me through the game, but we ended pretty close in points.
What do you all think of this game as a two player? I felt like I'd much rather try it with more players, than play with two again. Seems like it would be much more dynamic and there would be more possible options for winning.

Agricola
My wife's favorite! We've been playing Ora et Labora recently, so it was interesting to play Agricola again. We enjoy this game so much! It has probably been our best money invested in a game.
My wife went for a great combination of cards to get her grain going early, but that left all the wood to me, and with the Carpenter occupation, I was able to build rooms early and have 5 people by round 7-9, I forget which. She managed to fill her player board near the end using Shared Walls, but with all my people, I was able to pull ahead and win with 59 points, which I think is a record for me. And I had the max in cattle! Never done before!

Sunday:
Dixit
We got to introduce my mom and sister to Dixit. My mom is an artist, and she's looked at buying the game before because the art intrigued her so much. She really enjoyed it, but didn't like coming up with clues. She is the only person we've played with so far who didn't think the are was weird and creepy.

Wits & Wagers
Played with my mom and sister as well. The game is better with more than four players.

I just got a copy of Here I Stand and I've been reading through the rule book. My wife says she'll try the two player version with me this coming weekend! I love her. So next week's report should be good!

On Saturday we played Catan. It was only the second time playing and the first time playing with a random tile set up. We all had fun but the game was plagued with lil child syndrome. In the end I was victorious. This game just might work out well with the family.

Played battle senario two: Revanche, spring 1925. Americans vs Weimar Germany. Americans lose one of two CAs and none of its two SC's, the Germans lost a light BC, and its ecorting CL escaped. Lots of fun.

Memoir '44 -- played senario 41 in this expansion, with my Russians keeping the Germans from part of Stalingrad and doing a lot of damage in the process (10-6 win; a little lucky in that for a good chunk of the game I was picking up some useful cards and rolling well against the elite German units)

Warriors of God -- first outing of this since I bought it a little while ago; I did very poorly as the French, conceding at the end of turn 5

Piquet -- won 140-93; steady scoring with no spectacular hands this time

Agricola -- 3P game with (as usual) Agricola: Farmers of the Moor; came equal 2nd, IIRC, some way behind the winner (but at least I didn't have any empty spaces this time)

Squeezed Catan in on a Saturday. My usual gaming group seems to be my mother, my girlfriend and (sometimes) my brother. I was a little surprised that with 4 players the game could last so long. There might have been some waffling on player turns, as my mother and brother can be fairly indecisive when it comes to making strategic plays (as much strategy that SoC can allow). Luckily, the robber didn't rear his head too often throughout the game, but my girlfriend absolutely creamed the rest of us, claiming early stakes on most of the forest/clay production tiles and quickly converting those to cities over settlements. In the end, she won (with the help of a longest road victory) with my mom and myself coming in with 8 points and my brother coming in with 6. It was a good game, although it seemed to go a little long (more than 2 hours).

Sunday, I played Candy Land with my girlfriend and her 5 year old niece. I won 2 out of 3 games and my girlfriend's niece one the other. It's actually not that bad of a game (especially for the price) for a kid, I would love to start incorporate some other games that a 5 year old could grasp. I tried Hey, That's My Fish!, a few weeks back and it was just too abstract for her to really grasp that she needed to count the fish on the tiles and not just the tiles, as well as movement rules, but I digress.
