The compass rose. Why is this there? Whenever we play we always jokingly make a big deal about which way is north, but I've certainly never found a use for it.

OK I admit the pyramid looks cool in the board...but it gets in the way and serves no purpose as you have to deliver (and leave stuff on) the center tile. It's always the center tile not like you get to choose it something.

The Key to the City is given to the winner. Of course, they only included it once which means you keep it from the time you win the game until it's put away. What, 2 minutes? Do you really need this piece?

I know some people might suggest you keep it until the next game but I doubt hardly anybody would take this seriously. Our game group can go months between games so this piece would probably get lost if someone took it home with them.

This one is always the first to come to mind for me. There is a black drawstring bag in Castle. You don't have to draw anything out at any point in the game. I'm guessing it's just to store the cards in when not in use, but there is no need for it in the game.

I use it to draw plantation tiles out of when playing Puerto Rico myself.

Raptors.

For all the other ship types, it makes sense to have miniatures to represent them. They start out in reserve (or off the board for cyclon ships), get placed on the board when launched, they move around the board, they go to a designated place when damaged, and at all times their locations matter.

Raptors on the other hand... are just a resource; e.g. a number you need to keep track of. You start with 4. They can get destroyed. But they're never placed anywhere (presumably they sit in reserve until they are destroyed). They could easily be represented by a dial (as with other resources) or a die. Why make a detailed mini?

We must have spent 20 minutes searching through the rule book trying to figure out what to do with them. We were sure we must be missing something...

The "Rome Demands" card. My gaming group never uses it, it seems pretty unecessary. We just sequentially reveal a card color from our hand for each legionary action we can take.

Because "No cheating" shouldn't have to be a rule for a game. (i.e. picking the same exact card to demand multiples of a color, given more than one Legionary action).

The I and K cards for the Interactive and Complex Decks. Why are they there? There's not even one for the basic (E) deck, prompting me to think I had lost it somewhere after unboxing.

I'm sure it was probably because there were two cards left at the end of a sheet that didn't know what to do with.

The little cardboard guillotine.

Yes, I know it's supposed to mark the front of the line. But really it's not needed. First, if you can't remember which direction you're moving the people, gaming in general is probably to complex for you. And second, it could have just as easily have been a card you placed at the start of the line instead of the cardboard standup thing.

My group has yet to ever actually use the cardboard standup.
