* Folks normally don't want to PM with offers and wait back to hear if they won or lost. Set up a geeklist auction like this one:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/134923/board-game-auct... Folks can see what their competition is bidding.
* Break up the collection into the different wars and have a WWII auction and so on.
* Have an ending date for the auction.
* List the shipping weight of each item and your zipcode. Folks will want a ballpark of total out of pocket on their end.
* Have a lot of boxes and packing ready. These are good items, be sure to warp them in plastic and pad them well.
* List the condition of each item.
* Folks around here are probably not going to want all the games at once. Wargamers would normally have some/most of these and would be looking to fill in gaps in their collection so you're probably going to end up piecing this out over time.
* I'm not sure what sites you checked for prices. If you looked at Troll and Toad you have to realize that those guys sell things at CRAZY high prices.
* If you're really desperate, Troll and Toad will buy this collection, but they will low-ball you. They are in a business of resale, after all. On top of that, you would have to pay shipping.
* You can sell this, don't worry, but it will take a lot of work and some time. eBay makes it easier to sell, they do a lot of legwork and automated follwup emails for you, but you end up losing 15-20% after their fees and Paypal. With BGGs 3%, the loss isn't so great but you have Paypal fees here as well.
* Good luck. If you need specific advice (especially about the marketplace), feel free to ask. We're a helpful bunch.

You haven't gotten any or many offers because that $4400 looks very high to most people; also because as several people have said, the only person looking to buy the whole pile is going to be to resell it, and it would have to be a very low offer to make that worthwhile. In fact I would never consider buying a whole collection like this other than locally - paying shipping to get those games to me would eat into profits even more; buying them without being able to look at them first would be pretty foolish for that big of a pile, etc.
Buying one game based on someone's description is one thing; a big pile of games, another. I've gotten single games or other items in the mail that were far from the condition the seller claimed...not saying you'd be dishonest, but people's honest opinions on stuff like condition can be very different.
