A lot of faffing about deciding what to play at the beginning so we ended up with a quick 3 player round of Perudo. Riccardo sold me a good dummy in the first round but I didn't lose a die after that
My second game of this and I rather enjoy it, though it is quite susceptible to Jenga-style collapse! Riccardo and I seemed to be shooting it out for first all the way through, but then our rivalry allowed Tagore to sneak through at the death for a single point win.
One of the remaining 'serious' Knizias that I hadn't tried, I acquired it in the last UK maths trade. It's pretty good - three types of area majority and it uses the Biblios/PAX mechanism of sequentially allocating cards to yourself, an auction, and the discard pile. Unfortunately I slightly botched the rules, which put the relative values of the cards out of whack. If only I'd stuck to my 'buy nothing' strategy I would have won...
Auctions would have been more interesting with that one rule fix, although I still enjoyed it quite a bit. If there's a downside to the game, it's that I can't imagine it working as well with less than 5, and certainly not with 3. Hope to play it again with the proper rules all the same.
Nice game, but can bring on AP and King building. I ended up way behind chashing shadows, but the others seems to grasp it pretty quick, with Andy walking off with the win (his 5p villages et all!)
Failed a 5th round vote with a spy on it, because both one of the team members and the spy herself voted against the mission. It all went downhill from there.
I don't really like the plot cards, incidentally. May as well play BSG if you want more "game" beyond just lying.
"well learned at top speed by Paul, but sadly this did not help him in loosing out on every bid by 1 each time - Paul does an excellent sad face when required!! Possibly the best artwork I have seen in deck-building or card based game " Russell
