In Wilderness War, the players get to re-fight the 7 Years War in North America. Although only a single deck of strategy cards is used, a la We The People, the two sides are dramatically different in character: the French are irregular-heavy (especially Indians), so will rely on raiding to tie down the much, much larger number of British Regular & Provincial drilled troops, who will themselved be intent on sieges and trying to force a pitched battle. Like Hannibal, the fortunes of war turn as the game goes on; the French are masters early, with the crushing British manpower advantage accruing late.

A "game" upon the "American Revolution and French & Indian War". This game features '15' 'Scenarios' covering the 'Battles' that forged the nation! and actually '2'-(or MORE!) of these! The game has a "map board" with "Terrain Tiles"-(akin to some 'others') which allow YOU to play the 'Scenarios' included, as well as "DESIGN your 'own'!" favorites. Pieces are to represent the "British", "American", "French" and "Indian's" depicted within this, for their particular 'Battle'. For EACH 'Battle', then the 'Commanders' are rated for their "Leadership capabilities" and this plays a vital role in the ability to move and control your forces for them. 'Dragoons', 'Artillery', 'Tribes', 'Light Infantry'-("Rangers", etc.), 'Militia', and various other pieces are represented, in which to perform their "Historic roles" for 'Battle'.

This game covers four battles of the French and Indian War: Fort Carillon (1758), Québec (aka The Plains of Abraham) (1759) and Sainte-Foy (1760). The game scale is very large (i.e., small maps, each smaller than the magazine opened up) but the game itself is reasonably detailed for a "magazine game."

The game I have played the most. Played many numerous times with a young son.
Fun to play both sides, either as French and Indians and their handful of militia (which can become troops of the marine or FRENCH rangers who lead Indian forces) or the British and their Colonial forces.
It is a game that playes well as simulated history, you choose what to do with little resources (roll points to move and then attack).
ONE OF THE BEST INTRODUCTORY GAMES WITHOUT BLAND NON-HISTORICAL mere move and attack and push counters, here you feel like you have put together as force and must use it to the terrain Regulars attacking in open is best, indians and rangers in woods, regulars in or attacking forts and militia as cannon fodder.

GET IT YOU WILL BE HAPPY.

F&IW is a two player game. The British player controls the forces of the British Empire and its American colonies. The French player controls the forces of the French Empire, its colonies and Indian allies in North America. Players must use a combination of military strength, economic management and diplomatic skill to seize control of the continent.
Each game turn represents one year, and each impulse one season of operations. Each map square is 150 kilometers across. Regiments represent 250-1,000 men.

Quelques Arpents de Neige is a two-player game with each player taking the side of either the French Empire or the British Empire. Both players have native allies to control and the French player can also control what's left of the Spanish Empire in North America. The game is regimental-scale (approximately 500-1000 men) with the two maps having a scale of 33km and 66km per hex respectively. The combat system uses a combat results table (CRT) and the monthly game turn has several phases. These include the Start Phase, Naval Phase, Supply Phase, Combat Phase, Movement Phase, and End Phase. The game system focusses on having a common sense and simple approach so that the turn can flow easily.

Subtitled The Seven Years War in North America, this game covers what those in the USA call the French and Indian War.

The 72-page booklet contains a lot of historical background, discussions of geography, tactics, uniforms, flags, and two different sets of miniatures rules, 11 detailed scenarios (with maps, starting forces setups, terrain, etc.), and a campaign game called "Wolfe and Montcalm." The latter includes not only rules, but a page of counters to photocopy and glue to cardstock as well as an 11"x17" map (~A3 size) with point-to-point movement to move the counters on.

One set of miniatures rules is called Battle Scale (each figure = 50 men), and the other Skirmish Scale (1 figure = 1 man). Rules are given for movement, morale, ranged fire, melee combat, Indians, Rangers, European Line troops, local militia, ambush, etc.

Leaders are handled extremely well in this game. Each leader is rated as one of Brilliant, Efficient, Plodding or Buffoon(!). Ordinary playing cards are used to determine a number of actions each leader may initiate. Cards used include Aces (one action), 2s and 3s (2 and 3 actions, of course) and Jokers (2 actions and reshuffle). A Buffoon's deck has only one "3" card in it, but four aces, while a Brilliant Leader's is the opposite.

Scenarios include both Battle Scale and Skirmish Scale settings. Braddock's Defeat, Battle for Lake George, a raid by Rogers' Rangers, Scaling the Heights of Abraham at Quebec City, and many more, are all represented.

The campaign game can be played as a separate wargame, or used to generate Battle Scale miniatures games, as you wish. Rules are provided for the counters if you don't wish to take the battles to the miniatures table.

Thisgame is put out by Strata-max, who also did Iroquoia: The Beaver Wars. Just ordered it; still hasnot come. Seems more like a commercial vs fighting war, but I suppose it's still conflict.

From the Geeklist entry:

"During the first half of the 18th Century, France and England vied with each other for control of North America. At the same time, the colonists and Native Americans conducted their own private war in the wilderness. Into this theater entered men of daring who profited from this conflict. In Empires of the New World you take the place of entrepreneurs such as Johnson, Bigot, Washington, and others, who frequently played one side against the other for personal gain."

Whigs & Scalps is a two-player grand strategic conflict simulation of the French & Indian War. The map represents an area stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Northern Québec and from the Mississippi Valley to the Atlantic. The period covered goes from 1755 to 1760, each game turn representing a full year of real time.
Historically, despite some initial French victories, the British and Americans managed to conquer Nouvelle-France and effectively end French presence in Northern America.

Here's a recent addition. It is an expansion to Hold the Line, which in turn is a new edition of Clash for a Continent: Battles of the American Revolution and French & Indian War. Looks like in the new edition, they've separated the American Revolution from the French and English war, the latter being an expansion to the former.

I was just about to make my own FIW geeklist, not because I know anything about it, but rather because I'm miffed about the miscategorization of these games.

If there are enough of them I've been invited to create a Family, but first I have to find them all.

Thank you for your list; you had a few that I missed. I've added a few that you missed, including miniature rules sets that FIW gamers popularly use.
