The quest continues to determine The Geek’s favourite TV Series. Like many of you on here I have very little spare time and like a lot of you I've got a full time job and kids. There is a lot of great TV around nowadays and there just isn't time to watch it all or work out for ourselves what we'd like. I've found that BGGeeks on the whole tend to have similar tastes to me, so hopefully this contest will be a useful as well as a fun exercise.
340 shows were in the first round, you can see it here, it also includes some guidelines for the contest: [POLLS] The Geek's Favourite TV Series: Round 1
You can see the nomination and discussion thread here: The Geek's Favourite TV Series: Nomination and Discussion Thread

Last round the last 130 shows fought it out to confirm their places in the top 100 and over 400 geeks rated them. You can see it here:
[POLLS] The Geek's Favourite TV Series: Round 2: The Top 100

This Top 50 round takes the top 60 shows based on average rating from the last round, though they also needed to receive a minimum number of ratings to qualify to ensure that the results are relevant to The Geek. 60 shows make it into this round to make sure the Top 50 is reliable.

The 60 shows are split into 10 brackets using the round two scores to even out the quality. The best shows judged by average rating will progress to the next round, size TBC, but maybe a Top 20. They will also need a higher minimum number of votes to progress to ensure that the results are relevant to The Geek.
I will amalgamate the results from all the brackets, so there is no limit to the number who can progress from each bracket - or a guarantee that any will progess from a group.

All the rounds will be announced here, so subscribe if you don't want to miss them:

Voting is over for this round. The next round is here:

So what happened in the last round? The main measure used for qualification for this round was Average Rating. To calculate this I awarded points for each rating: Best (4), Awesome (3), Great (2), Good (1), Okay (0), Bad (-1). In addition shows needed a minimum number of votes to ensure the results are relevant to The Geek.
I don't publish the results of the average ratings to retain some mystery to the contest.

Just missing the cut for this round were:

ReBoot
Porridge (UK)
Extras (UK)
Fringe
Boardwalk Empire
Blake's 7 (UK)
Cowboy Bebop
Mad Men
Freaks and Geeks
Castle
The Pacific

and these shows got high average ratings, but not enough votes to make the Top 60:

Ultraviolet (UK)
The Killing (Denmark)

Top 20 by Most 'Best' Votes:

1 Firefly
2 The Big Bang Theory
3 Battlestar Galactica (New)
4 Star Trek: The Next Generation
5 BlackAdder (I-IV) (UK)
6 The Simpsons
7 Star Trek
8 A Game of Thrones
9 Seinfeld
10 Band of Brothers
11 Fawlty Towers (UK)
12 The Muppet Show
13 Doctor Who (UK) (New)
14 M*A*S*H
15 Futurama
16 Buffy The Vampire Slayer
17 The X-Files
18 Sherlock (UK)
19 Arrested Development
20 South Park

This list is a straight count of the shows getting the most 'Best' ratings in the last round. All but one of these make the cut for this round: South Park. Three of the 'Best by Average' top ten are not on this list.

Top Ten Most 'Bad' Votes

-65 South Park
-47 The Office (US)
-44 Mr. Bean (UK)
-44 How I Met Your Mother
-36 The Big Bang Theory
-36 Curb Your Enthusiasm
-33 Buffy The Vampire Slayer
-32 The Office (UK)
-30 Seinfeld
-29 Hogans Heroes

This list is a straight count of the shows getting the most 'Bad' ratings in the initial round. So now we see why South Park didn't make the cut for this round. Looks like Mr Bean suffered from not having the "not the dire movie" comment unlike the first round!
Four of these make the cut for this round: Big Bang Theory, Buffy, The Office (UK) and Seinfeld.

Top 10 Most Rated (aka Most Well Known)

1 The Simpsons
2 Star Trek
3 South Park
4 Star Trek: The Next Generation
5 The X-Files
6 The Big Bang Theory
7 Seinfeld
8 The Muppet Show
9 M*A*S*H
10 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

This is a straight count of ratings. Only two of these don't make the cut for this round: South Park and DS9. House would have been #11 on this list and it also missed the cut.

Top 10 Least Rated (aka Most Obscure Series last round)

1 7 Samurai
2 Ultraviolet (UK)
3 The Thick of It (UK)
4 Samurai Champloo
5 The Killing (Denmark)
6 Outnumbered (UK)
7 Trigun
8 The Mysterious Cities of Gold (Japan/France)
9 Green Wing (UK)
10 Homeland

These exclude the most obscure wildcards from last round.

A quick note on how the brackets work. Firstly the shows have been allocated to the brackets based on their results last round and the brackets have been equalised.

The voting process is simple. Rate all the shows you have seen and then upgrade a single one in each bracket from "Awesome" to "Best". If you don't have an "Awesome", don't choose a "Best".

I don't make any use of the "Haven't Seen" votes, so feel free to ignore entries on the poll rather than selecting that option.
