After the modest success of my previous Geeklist "2011 is looking good!", I decided to continue the tradition into 2012 with a new list. It is still early so there aren't too many games to add right now but, as time progresses, more titles will be added. Just like in the previous Geeklist, feel free to submit games you are looking forward to in 2012. Also, if you enjoyed reading this, please thumb!

Previous list:

Now, let's get started, shall we?

Here comes the new "Starter Set" for flames of war game series, this time with tons of soldiers and tanks in PLASTIC! American/England-vs-Germany, this could be a great bargain and completely sold me the game to get into.

The theme on this one is unlike anything I own, or even really know of. It seems to be a light to medium card-driven Euro, something else I'm not as drawn to normally, but this one's theme is mundane in a modern setting, and because of that it may actually be quite fun.

Currently on Kickstarter, until April 27th.

From the BGG Description: Fleet is an exciting, strategic card game with in-depth decisions and thrilling game play that new and experienced gamers can enjoy! In Fleet, you'll acquire licenses, launch boats, and fish the great briny blue. The player who best manages his resources and acquires the most VP via fish, licenses, and boats will build the strongest fleet and lead his crew to victory!

edit: BGG description, wording and specific date

Apparently this game got some buzz at Origins. Looks like a fun, little dex game that kids may enjoy.

From the BGG description: "Flowers falling from the sky! In FlowerFall, players attempt to form large garden patches containing more of their color flower than their opponents. Each continuous patch will score points at the end of the game. Adding cards to the table is not as simple as simple as placing them down, however. You must carefully drop them, letting them flutter through the air. Skill improves your chances, but the whim of the environment may thwart you.

FlowerFall is a quick, portable game you can play anywhere. The location you're at becomes the terrain!"

This game, releasing from Twilight this summer, is a fun, fast-paced, occasionally tense racing/betting game. I was lucky enough to be able to play-test this game, and am super excited to buy my own copy when it comes out. My boyfriend is usually the one who wins all the time, but for some reason, this game and I have a special relationship, and I kicked his butt all over the place when we played it. Can't wait for my own copy!

Another kickstarter project I'm strongly considering...so many to chose from.

From BGG: The day has come. The paperwork is complete, the registration filed, and the business cards purchased – you're open for business! So now what? Where do you spend your time? Where do you spend your money? Which tasks are most important? What should take priority? Should you hire new employees? Or maybe invest in a marketing campaign? These are just some of the decisions facing you as a fresh entrepreneur who dreams of running a successful business. You must excel at balancing your time, money and staff because all are scarce and all are required to thrive.
So barter with your fellow colleagues, manage your staff, collect information, expand your office, or schedule your next product shipment. It's up to you – after all, it's your business. Of course, no matter which route you decide to take to reach that corner office at the top of the tallest skyscraper, you must start with everyone else...
...on the Ground Floor!

By in large, I've been impressed with the games TMG has put out(paticularly Homesteaders). I think its time to come up with a cover story for the wife right now. Maybe i'll try this;"honey this is a kickstarter project and they only needed fifty more dollars to get it funded! You wouldn't squash another man's dream for a mere fifty bucks would you?"

This one probably isn't for me or my group but I am sure some will find it interesting. I believe the Kickstarter campaign for it is over and it was successful. If you like designing ships that are elegant, effective and efficient in order to toast your buddies, this may be the game for you.

From the BGG description: "Gunship: First Strike! is Escape Pod Games' core release in a planned series of tactical space combat games. Players fight to win battles in a futuristic civil war with a variety of ship types. From the agile and speedy Fighters, to lethal Gunships and intimidating Capital Ships, every battle is a well-balanced slugfest that comes right down to the wire. Our new Trinity Mechanic uses boards, cards and dice together in an extremely innovative and easy-to-learn system that lets new players jump right in."

Gunship:First Strike plays 2-4 players in about 30 minutes.

A new card game from the creator of Dominion set in the world of Android from FFG. After reading the first preview on FFG's website, my hype for this game lessened a little bit but I am still going to keep this on my radar.

From the BGG description: "Set in the dystopian future of Android, Infiltration is a tense card game of futuristic larceny in which two to six players take the roles of thieves, competing to steal valuable secrets from a highly secured corporate facility.

The most vital information lies deep within the complex, but each step inward takes you farther from escape. Worse yet, corporate mercenaries are closing in! How long will you push your luck as you avoid security patrols, surpass rival thieves, and try to download the most data before the building is locked down?"

Infiltration plays 2-6 in 45 minutes.

I think I'm anticipating this game. In general I don't care for Market Garden, and in general am not that keen on SCS. However, I really like Bastogne: Screaming Eagles under Siege, and SCS seems to work well on that scale. And, I've worked out a few house rules to make SCS more suited to my taste, and if necessary I'll adopt them for this game.

At any rate I've preordered the game. Time will tell whether I will have anticipated it or not (!)

Keyflower is a game that just appeared on my radar, mostly because of the buzz it is receiving on BGG. I am not sure how good this game will play with 2 or 3 players since bidding is involved but we'll see. Other than that, I don't know a lot about Keyflower.

From the BGG description: "Keyflower is a game for two to six players played over four rounds. Each round represents a season: spring, summer, autumn and finally winter. Each player starts the game with a "home" tile and an initial team of eight workers, each of which is colored red, yellow or blue. Workers of matching colors are used by the players to bid for tiles to add to their villages. Matching workers may alternatively be used to generate resources, skills, additional workers and victory points (VPs) not only from the player's own tiles, but also from the tiles in the other players' villages and from the new tiles being auctioned."

Keyflower plays 2-6 in about 1.5 hours.

Mmmm, steampunk setting. This game was a huge success on Kickstarter. Other than that, the BGG description can better describe this title than I can, since I know very little about it.

From the BGG description: "Kings of Air and Steam is a pickup/deliver and route-planning style game with a steampunk setting. Players become one of 12 (14 with overfunding) characters piloting an airship to gather goods from factories, then delivering those goods to cities via their network of railroads.

Build up your business as a shipping magnate, and become the next King (or Queen) of Air and Steam."

Can anyone ever have too much zombie action? I suppose but I still haven't reached my limit. More Last Night on Earth is a good thing in my opinion. By now, most everyone involved in gaming knows how LNoE plays, so I will just skip to the BGG description.

From the BGG description: "Last Night on Earth: Timber Peak is an action-packed standalone game as well as an expansion for Last Night on Earth. Introducing the brand new town of Timber Peak with a full set of game boards, six new Heroes (including three Survivor versions of Heroes from the original Last Night on Earth), four Generator objective pieces, a full set of 14 Zombies, a host of new Scenarios, rules for fire breaking out and spreading, over 130 new game cards, and a full Experience System for both Heroes and the Zombie horde to gain upgrades within the course of each game!"

Have you ever wanted a game just by looking at the cover art? That's Libertalia for me. Plus, a pirate theme NEVER hurts.

From the BGG description: "Captain Swallow has always dreamed of pocketing a large nest egg in order to retire on a remote island – but he never counted on stiff competition from Captains Stanley Rackum, Dirk Chivers and others, greedy and cruel enemies who always manage to attack the same ships as him. If he wants to finally sink back and enjoy peaceful days in the sun, he must become the most cunning pirate!

In Libertalia, you must thwart the plans of competitive pirates over the course of three rounds while using cards that show the same crew members as your piratical comrades-in-arms. Yes, not only do they attack the same ships, but they employ the same type of ravenous scum that you do! Can you take advantage of the powers of your characters at the right time? Will you be outdone by a pirate smarter than you? Jump into the water and prove your tactical skills!"

Libertalia plays 2-6 in 45 minutes.
