Finally was able to bring this out. GF and I wanted a quick game to play at the end of the weekend after moving stuff from one apartment to a newer apartment (yay bigger space!). We lost, having snagged all treasures except the 'goblet' before we lost Fool's Landing. Still fun and really easy to learn.

Had two games of Stone Age with my girlfriend Annika on Saturday. I won both, but it's getting closer and closer. From the games I showed to her till now, this seems to be her favorite. I've recently added this fellow as a replacement for that unhandy start player marker that comes with the game, which makes it even more awesome.

On Sunday, we played 3 more games of Dominion, which I first showed to her a week ago. I was pretty much saturated on Dominion for about a year, because I had just played it too often with my former girlfriend back then, but I wanted to show it to Annika anyways. She had her troubles last week with keeping up with counting the actions and stuff, but now as she got more accustomed to the concept, she quite enjoyed the game and even beat me on the first game on Sunday. Couldn't let ther get away with that, so in the following two games I kind of crushed her by using Torturers (second game) and Saboteurs (third game) on almost every turn. She really hates the Saboteur now and first I thought I did overdo my "punishment" a bit by making those two games that frustrating, but on the next day she wrote me that she couldn't stop thinking about Dominon (and me, obviously, because I'm kind of her dream man, you know... ehem...) and wants to play it again badly...

Last Will

My sisters came to visit and we didn't get any gaming in on Friday, but one stuck around Saturday evening and my wife and I taught her Last Will. We ended up playing two games that evening, both $70 matches. My wife won the first and sister won the 2nd match. The 2nd was extremely close with each of us at -4, -5, and -6 after the last round.

Sleeping Queens
Got in 3 games of Sleeping Queens with my 4 year old while my wife took a little nap with the 3 year old on Mother's Day.

Not a bad weekend, but had hoped to suck my other sister and her hubby (not gamers) into a Ticket to Ride USA.

BANG! The Bullet! We played a 8-player game of Bang!, using the Dodge City Expansion. Great fun, until the sheriff was blown-up by the 2nd dynamite circling the table. Yea, I'll try to draw better next time! Great game, the first time it's seen the light of day in a couple years.

7 Wonders: Leaders- We played 3 games of 7-player 7 Wonders, using the Leaders expansion. I printed some cheat sheets for the Leaders cards which were a huge help in speeding up the game play.

Troyes - Had a 4-player game, introducing two new people to the game. As usual, there is much confusion at the start, but the game does flow after the first couple rounds. Most people get the idea of the worker placement, and creating combinations of the various action cards. I still enjoy the game, though wish the iconography was replaced with text. For the price of this game, the publisher can justify localized text versions to help the game play.

Saint Petersburg: The Banquet The old go-to game. This one gets played at least once during the monthly game meetup.

Dominion - I played only 1 game of Dominion, which is fine, since I still feel like everyone had OD'd on this game over the past year.

At a bonus Saturday session of my library's Unplug and Play game program, played my first seven-player game of 7 Wonders, once with the Leaders expansion, and once without. Did decently in the Leaders game, but got badly trounced in the regular game. Love the theme and flow of this game, even though I haven't figured out how to win.

I got to try out my three armies with a friend who's waiting on his Frostwings to show up

Treefolk v Undead
My treefolk army was set up as melee and missile focused since that's what I have a lot of, unfortunately the terrains started all high, so the undead were able to just roll themselves through to their 8th faces for the win.

Undead v Coral Elves
Next I took my undead against my rather powerful Coral Elves army, and unsurprisingly the Elves were able to quickly position them selves at an 8th face, so they could wind walk their way to an easy second 8th.

Overall a great play session even though I lost both matches. I'm going to try to rework my treefolk to focus on missile and magic to try to support them, and also hopefully master their racial ability, replanting, to quickly switch an army from one focus to another without having to spend a turn at the reserves area. As for my undead, the Dragonlord didn't catch any dragons, but I think that they are pretty effective as they stand, so unless I get some better magic items I think they're pretty much set. Lastly my Coral Elves don't need much working on, though once I can get some more I'd like to have some better monsters to include to give me some variety in the game.

Had folks over on Saturday evening for dinner and gaming.

First time I played a full 5 player Small World and most of us had a good time with it. In the end it was pretty close apart from our winner, who was well clear after playing her magical pair of Commando Wizards and Seafaring Sorcerers in her first time playing.

After that (and a little dessert) I pulled out High Society, a game which I liked when I played it but had not played in 6 years! My wife hadn't even played it at all (perhaps unsurprising as it doesn't play 2). Anyway, it was a big hit, with a second game immediately after the first. I love it when a game lights up the table like that.

Sunday was quieter with catching up on chores and the like, but my wife and I did play San Juan and both of us eschewed the race for the library. She fueled her expansion with tobacco sales while I set up a well/aqueduct/black market combo which actually came together rather well and overtook her Guild Hall-powered run of plants down the stretch. City Hall was important for me but being able to afford it was the key.

Need to get a few more plays of that for the Game of the Month club.
