Below is my Top 10 list of games involving automobile combat done in Mad Max (or similar style). These are games that meet substantially all of the following criteria: (1) vehicle combat (primarily focusing on automobiles); (2) typically set in post apocalyptic Earth, but can have other relevant backstories; (3) compelling theme involving cars, combat, and chaos; and (4) fun to play. This is a list of the BEST! As always, your mileage may vary and some entries may be "controversial." As such, please feel free to comment, debate, or just express your own point of view. Feel free to thumbsup this list (to draw attention and more comments) or any pleasing, interesting or thought provoking entries. If I missed one that you feel is essential or I am "insane for not listing" (trust me, it has been said before), then by all means let the comments fly . . . just be civil. FYI - I am a sucker for comments and discussion and usually thumbsup most if not all of them.

This list excludes games focusing primarily on auto racing (and not the combat aspect), as those are covered on Top 10 Auto Racing Games.

I find that these lists sometimes are helpful for others seeking similar games and the more rich the discussion for more useful the list.

For a complete listing of my Top 10 lists, see--MetaList: Nap's Top 10 Lists.

Thanks for reading and participating!

I played it to the death. Drawn my own arenas, built my own cars, played with pedestrians (Ob-racing rules), boats, hovercrafts, bikes, trucks, even with planes a couple of times... I think this is the greatest game I've ever played, expecially after it entered "completed" status with the release of the compendium (ok, we still had to change jumping rules after that, but that was the final change needed). If you love cars, spending a lot of time trying to build the best combo you can imagine to win your next race, devising some unique strategies for each arena, get a compendium and an Uncle Al's Catalog from Hell and... welcome to 2054.

The ultimate hi-octane racing game where you control vehicles travelling at blistering speeds.

The PnP version was awesome, but this is simply the icing on the cake.

Has a push your luck feel that often has the leaders fighting to maintain not only position but also survival, due to the other opponents, the vehicles condition, & the deadliness of the track itself.

Instead of movement dice the game uses an original & unique gear change mechanic, plus a simple On/Off weapon activation system.

The speed & physics make it far superior to any 'Roll & Move' racer out there; The faster you go the less lane changes you may get.

RUSH 'N' CRUSH blows the piss out of ROAD KILL RALLY and FORMULA D(E). If you can't handle the speed, fit L plates and look there!

Possibly one of the funnist screw-you factored games I've ever played! Play can be a bit slow the first couple of times, but once you get over the poorly written/vague rules this is an incredibly good piece of Ameri-trash.

Clearly inspired by the old 70s cult film Death Race 2000, players compete for victory points by winning the race, blasting each other to pieces or running down -that's right- old people and children! Being knocked out of the race is optional, meaning there's no player elimination. A cool idea for keeping tabs on speed and huge piles of upgrades and event cards keep the game chaotic to the last moment. Lots of dice rolling too- control freaks better stay clear of this one! Otherwise it's literally a sweet ride!

Rated for what it is. Pure childhood boy fantasy packaged in a box! You can't help but revert to that childhood as you sit at the edge of your seat making sound effects. Crashing, shooting, exploding, accelerating... Pure fast fun. The kind of game you don't mind losing, because dying or getting outpaced was still a heck of a lot of fun!

Terrific 'Mad Max' style road warrior game. The only drawback is that if you're designing vehicles from scratch for play then set up can often take longer than the actual play time. Best to have your car(s) ready in advance.

If you've played Car Wars, or Dark Future... this is the game you were probably hoping those would be. It's massively simplified rules keep the action fast and fun, so you can have multiple playthroughs in a night and not be neck deep in spreadsheets and overly complicated systems that don't really add to the fun. Buy this now.

This game really scratches my Road Warrior/Death Race itch!
An awesome Print & Play that captures fast car combat action with out getting overly complex or "mathy."
This is my new go-to car combat game.
I find it much faster and more rewarding that Car Wars.

My favorite car battling game (miniatures or board). The rules are fairly shor and simple, and best of all free. All you need to get started is a tape measure, some D6 dice and some hot wheels/matchbox cars.

A turn is basic: all players set their speed, fastest vehicle moves first. Shoot at any time (one shot per weapon on a round) and you can shoot when other players are moving.

Damage is nice; three rows of damage. After the first row fills up a player must roll a D6 for each of their vehicle parts (engine, steering, etc.) and on a result of 6 that part is damaged. The same happens when the second row is filled up but 5 and 6s count. When the third row fills up your vehicle is destroyed.

Skidding is a big part of the game, the faster you are moving the better chance you have to skid. That may cause you to slide into another vehicle or terrain for damage.

Yes, the game does mostly boil down to who can draw the right cards at the end. So what? It's not a strategy fest, it's gun toting, sideswiping, fuel stealing mahem! I may get tired of this game after more plays but it hasn't happened yet.
