Most of all wargamers are used to see tons of games (most of them very good indeed) about those topics like WWII,Civil War, Ancient Warfare, Pirates, etc.

But what about those 'obscure' topics, I mean games focused on subjects that if ever have been touched by a wargame design? I understand any game publisher needs to seek the $$$ out of their games (no one will publish a game just to loose a chunk of money on it) but sometimes these 'obscure' or unusual topics can lead us to satisfying gaming experiences.

I am doing a list of some 'obscure topics' game I know and own, but I invite all of you fellows to place your entries or comments here.

Also I am posting some topics on which and to the best of my knowledge, there is still no wargame published about it.

Of course, DTP games can be included in this listing.

Thanks for your comments and/or observations, my fellows.

The middle Byzantine period doesn't get a lot of attention.

Oh sure, there are the crusades games, but they focus more
on the Western style of fighting. The Byzantines played a
long game of delay and some very adroit fighting against the
Muslims during this period (and prior to the crusades). For one,
I'd love to see a Men of Iron (or better GBoH) take on these
battles.

Maybe there are some out in VV magazine, but I'm a bit leery
of French rules and unmounted counters.

The Seven Years war captures a reasonable amount of game
effort - but what about this prelude to it? Pretty much the
same tactics are on display, but very little coverage.

Though the Dutch "War of Independance" (because that is what it was) lasted for 80 years (minus a 12 years truce) this game is the onliest one I know of to cover this epic period in Dutch history. The Dutch George Washington (i.e. William of Orange) became the "Founding Father" of the Netherlands (or better: Republic of the 7 United Netherlands). Just over 130 years later the Dutch Republic was amongst the first (some say the first) countries to officially recognize the newborn and independant nation known as the United States of America.

The Dutch resistance against the German agression in May 1940 lasted for only five days and ended with the Dutch capitulation after a gruesome German aireal bombardment of the city of Rotterdam. While another airborne operation on Dutch soil (operation Market Garden) is widely covered the first large scale airborne operation of WW2 saw little attention. German elite Fallschimjäger against Dutch draftees and poorly armed, trained and equipped garrison units and still the Germans were nearly defeated.

I'm still a toddler to the wargaming world (I own more I haven't played than I've played total) but this is the only game I've run across on this conflict. It's one that's fascinated me since I learned about it as a kid. Joseph was a giant of a man, a local hero around here (the city of Spokane Valley was originally proposed to be called the city of Chief Joseph when it first was up to be incorporated) and this story is epic.

From my review:

What WAS King Philip's War?

First, a couple of sentences on what exactly this game is about. King Philip's war (also known as Metacom's War; King Philip was how the English referred to Metacom, Grand Sachem of the Wampanoag Confederacy in southern New England) was, as designer John Poniske puts it in the game's introduction, "the highly destructive conflict between the Native Indians and English settlers of New England in 1675-76." "Highly destructive" is right. Scholarly estimates put casualties - as the proportion of the entire populations, NOT just among combatants - at 1.5% for the English colonists and 15% for the Indians. It marked the beginning of the end for strong and independent Native American tribes in the northeastern United States as well. So not a very well-known war, but an important conflict.
