This was my third year at WBC. Due to work being crazy, I couldn't get there until Wednesday afternoon, but had a great time. Unfortunately, Felix's teaching schedule always runs into the week of WBC, but he was able to come out in the evenings and then did open gaming with me on Saturday.

When I first got to WBC, I sat down with Julius to play a 2p game of this in open gaming. As I own the game, I got to teach it to him. It was a fun start.

Next up, I ran over to the demo for Automobile. I first played this nearly a year ago at Seize Your Turn where Dave taught the rest of us how to play. I instantly loved it, but I've only gotten to play it one other time as a 5p game. So I felt very rusty and sat through the demo.

Then it was off to play in a heat, where I lost by $10 to another player. Somehow that was enough to be an alternate for the semifinals, where I didn't do very well. But as it was my 4th game ever, I didn't feel too bad, and I sure learned a lot. All of the players were great to play with. That was probably the most fun I had at WBC. Just love, love this game.

I decided to play in the Stone Age tournament as well. Another one I have not played in a long time. I used to play this frequently on BSW, but haven't played it much lately. I came in second. The players were again very friendly and fun to play with.

I played this with Tim and Dan in open gaming. Tim and Dan had never played it before. I'd played it years ago. It's never been my favorite Feld game, but it was fun to revisit it.

Tim mentioned the Egizia tournament, so I decided to run over there and play a game. I ended up at a table with Dave. This was a great learning game for me. I felt like I picked up a lot of good strategies from playing with the other players. It's one of the very nice things about the tournaments at WBC. You really can get better at your favorite games by playing with people much better than you!

I really wanted to play in the Le Havre tournament, so I headed there next. Dave was at my table. Unfortunately, I did very, very badly. I made a number of inexplicable decisions in that game. I just could never adjust for the very slow build rate in that particular game and ended up very indebted. Oh well. I will have to try this again next year.

I have never been good at this game, but I somehow like the concept of the game enough to keep playing it. This was another game where I felt like I learned a lot from watching the other players. I think I finally figured out why I do badly at it. So I look forward to trying out some strategies I saw implemented in that tournament. Katie was in my 4p table.

Dave and I played this because we could only find a tiny table in open gaming. I messed up the rules the first time through, but we got through it with the correct rules. I like this game a lot with 2p, but Felix really doesn't so it was nice to play it again.

I played in the second heat with John Weber, who beat me soundly by 5 points. It probably shouldn't even have been that close. I wanted to play in the third heat on Saturday, but some crisis at work didn't let me get over there in time for it. Oh well. Next year. Or maybe Euro Quest!

After sitting down and playing a 4p game of Stone Age in open gaming, we played this with 5p. Other players were Felix, a super nice guy named Charlie that we met there, and a fun couple that dropped in for Stone Age. I never do well at this game, but still like it. It's fairly fast, money is tight, and it's Feld!

Played this with Charlie, Felix and the same couple mentioned above. I really liked this game. I could see it would be more interesting with less players (maybe 3 or 4). Unfortunately, it's apparently out of print, although Charlie did say it was similar to China, so I'll look for that.

Last game of WBC! Dan, Janet, Felix, Chad and I played a 5p game. I always love playing this game, although 5p is a bit long for me. I tend to prefer the 4p game. Chad beat me by a point.
