Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

WOW, AWESOME!!!!

I just got a package this morning! Inside was gift-wrapped box, but on the packaging slip I read "Terra Mystica". Of cours I could not wait and I immediately unwrapped it!

I'm really excited about this! Before going to Essen this year I already read a lot about "Terra Mystica" and found it very intriguing. However, while in Essen, I didn't have a chance to try it and it didn't fit my budged to "blind-buy" it. After coming back and reading a lot of positive reviews about it, I started to regret that I didn't buy. And now I got it as a gift!

Thank you very, very much my (not so secret) Santa!

26/11/2012: two packages arrived at my home today: Android Netrunner, a game that is hard to find in our FLGS in Belgium, and which is heavily played by many of the fellow gamers around me. The perfect gift!

Also:
Ghost Blitz

a game that I haven't heard of, but it seems like a perfect fit for me and my 6y old son! Nice spying, Santa, you did it perfectly!

Thanks a lot!!

Once more, I'm very happy with Santa and this BGG program. Awesome!!

Here's how I was teased this Christmas.

Quote:
Ahoy, Santa here,

I don't normally send out personal messages, but just wanted to check in and say don't you worry - our Midlands elves have had a few teething issues with their new operating system, but they assure me everything is under control again now.

We have you down for:

1x Star Wars Episode 1 Monopoly (used)

Please don't hesitiate to let us know if this is a computational error. If we don't hear from you this week (just reply to this message) we'll get it on the sleigh!

Regards,

Santa

Needless to say I told Santa he had had a computational error and he sent me Agricola instead (they were out of copies of 4 Tractors and a Cow Game apparently).

This one's been at the top of my wishlist for a long time. I haven't had a chance to play it yet but thank you Santa!

First off, apologies to my SS for not posting on here sooner. The box arrived last week, but due to Thanksgiving craziness I haven't had much computer time since then.

My SS and I had many pleasant geekmail exchanges, and sometimes I even got to talk to Krampus. That guy is a joker!

Santa said I could open the box when it got here. He also said that something else would be coming the day after the box, so I let it sit in it's beautifully wrapped state for a night wondering what was inside.

Attached was a note - Krampus strikes again!

The next day I received an amazon giftcard in my email from secret santa - he said it was for sleeves for the game. Santa thinks of everything!

So then I opened the box and found....

Since I got the game, I soloed it once, and played it 2P with a friend who came to Thanksgiving at our place. I quite like the game, and look forward to playing with the full 5 players.

THANK YOU SO MUCH SANTA!

Apologies to my secret santa that I did not post this sooner, but I was away for the holiday weekend. I was excited to come home to a shiny new game Sunday evening though.

Considering the difficult time I had getting my family to play Killer Bunnies and the Conquest of the Magic Carrot this weekend, it's probably better I didn't get this before I left. I would have brought this down and been horribly disappointed that it got nowhere.

I'm excited for it though and I hope to get a play before the year ends! Best part is that it came with animeeples! A gift all on its own!

I forgot to take un-boxing pictures, but there wasn't any packaging material so it wouldn't have been that exciting.

A package arrived today. After about 5 seconds of "maybe I will wait until christmas" heavy thinking, I decided to open it.

Inside:

OMG !!!! two gift wrapped boxes ... with a note from my geek santa:

... in the first one was...

theres more ???? in the second I found this:

I kept staring at this image with a little kid smile in my face:

2 Hours later, and after a "PunchFest" the games were resting, silent, beautiful in my shelf:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH MRS SANTA FOR YOUR TREMENDOUS GENEROSITY !

IT WAS A GREAT PLEASURE TALKING WITH YOU THESE PAST WEEKS !

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!

So I'm just getting over a fun head cold and just got home from a long day at work. I'm tired and know that the day isn't over yet. I check the mail and see that there is a "missed delivery. left at neighbour's" card in the mailbox! I knew I had ordered a gift for my wife, but I had earlier received a notice saying that package was waiting for me at the post office. Soo.... *GASP* SANTA!

I open the package to find:

There was a packing slip, but I quickly threw it away so I don't ruin the surprise. whistle (I know Amazon just doesn't understand the idea of wrapped gifts sometimes... shake)

Here's a better picture of the size:

And yes, unless my Santa really wants me to open it immediately, I'm waiting until Christmas to open it.

THANK YOU SANTA! laugh

EDIT: It WAS Caylus!! Woohoo! laugh Just got home from traveling for the holidays and already have a game session planned for the weekend! (I'd play it sooner, but my wife works later than I do and generally doesn't feel like learning a new game after a long day. ) THANK YOU AGAIN SANTA!!

Thank you Secret Santa! I just got back from Vacation and had a notice that a package was waiting for me at the post office. I ran there first thing this morning to pick it up, and with permission from Santa opened it up and found some awesome stuff!

Dungeon Fighter

Played the German copy of this last year and couldn't wait for it to get a domestic release! Dexterity dungeon crawling game! How cool is that.

A Call to Arms: Star Fleet

Also in the box was the rules for the new Star Fleet miniature game. I'm really excited about this one as I love modeling and painting, and my wife also loves Star Trek, so I have a good chance of getting some games in together! Thanks Santa!

Malifaux: The Death Marshals – Lady Justice Box Set

Finally, last but not least, The Death Marshals boxset for Malifaux. Can't wait to get these on the painting table!

Thank you Santa for the wonderful gifts!

So, I have to apologise for not posting straight away, but work and life and all the other annoyances that get in the way of Boardgaming have been happening. Anywhoo, myself and my wife got home to find a parcel slip in our hall saying we had missed a delivery. Dare I hope? So, I went to work the next day and my wife (who works a couple of hours later) went to the post office. She immediately taunted me via text with this...

Oooh, what could it be! So when I got home, I immediately opened the package (what? It's Christmas in my head!) and I was overjoyed to find this!

What on earth could make this more appealing? Fuzzies!!!

But Wait!!! There's more!
When I got home the next night, there was another parcel.

Two awesome gifts from my Santa!

THANK YOU SANTA!!!!!

I was out of town over the weekend and did not get back until Sunday evening. What a great surprise to find a package waiting for us!

Three neatly wrapped gifts, as well as a few pieces of Christmas candy. I was so happy to find Kingsburg as well as the expansion, Kingsburg: To Forge a Realm. I've been wanting this for a long time. My daughters and I played it last night, and had a great time. Even my younger daughter, who is normally very hard to please, wants to play it again! Thanks Santa!

"But didn't you say there were three gifts?" Why, yes, I did! I also got The Castles of Burgundy. Another fantastic dice game. Can't wait to see if my daughters will like this one too! (I know my game group does!)

Wow! Three really awesome gifts! Santa you are the best! From your clues, I think I've determined that you are a deployed US service member, serving in the US Army at a base in Germany? If that's true, I owe you an extra THANK YOU for your service. I hope you and your family have a Happy and safe Holiday season.

Eeeeeeeee! I had received a message from my Secret Santa a while ago saying a "teaser" gift was in the mail. And then today while in the middle of a spirited discussion at work, a small package arrived.

Since I had just placed an order online, I didn't even look down at the package, and merely started opening it while continuing to talk, assuming that it was a book I had ordered last week. Then everyone in my office stopped talking and just stared at my hands, looking very confused. That's when I looked down and realized I had a GAME in my hands!!!!! Thanks, Santa! And to answer your question, no, of course I don't mind that it is used!

My first SS experience has been a great one! Looking into my targets wishlist, checking his profile, masterminding a devious taunt and of course what gifts to get and finding a good online store.
What I hope for was that my SS was also into taunting, but as I now know, be carefull what you wish for...whistle

Just after my entry to the BGG SS, I updated my wishlist, my profile and put a letter to Santa in it. To try to provoke my SS I left a remark with my entry to the BGG SS that said: First timer, please be gentle !?

Quote:

Dear Santa,

I have updated my profile and wishlist to help you out choosing a suitable gift. I want you to know I am greatfull for what I already have and am blessed with a lovely wife and 3 daughters any present I might receive is really appreciated.
I play the following games;
Memoir 44, Catan (board+card)
Tikal, mexica, la cita, Maharadja, El grande, The princes of Florence, Clans
And many more.... (2006)

(2012)
That was before I had my 3 kids (all daughters by the way) Nowadays we(my wife and Friends) play less frequent, but still one night every other week.
So therefore I recently have developed an interest in solitair games with a fantasy theme such as Mage Knight, Space Hulk: Death angel the card game, Elder sign and Lord of the Rings: The card game. Providing me with the so needed boardgame fix.
I am a peadiatric nurse and work in a Peadiatric Intensive Care Unit in Utrecht called the Wilhelmina's Children Hospital. Another big hobby of mine is Lazer-Tag. I own enough material to equip over 30 people with lazertaggers for an outdoor event.

Soon after that I got my first reply from my SS:

Quote:
So, a first-timer he?
Maybe Santa will be gentle, but only if you've been a good boy.

Santa has already been looking at your wish-list.
So if you wanna do a last update, be quick because the sleigh is taking his departure soon.

And don't forget, Santa sees it all and really likes a good beer at the chimney from time to time.

To let him know my wishlist was final I made an extra entry on my wishlist of the boardgame Read My Lips and left a remark there saying:
Quote:
Dear Santa,
I put this u here just to get your attention. Read my profile for my anwer to your letter!

and I updated my profile with the folowing letter:
Quote:
Hello Santa,

Thank you for your kind letter, it is really appreciated. Unless it is hard for you to get any games on my wishlist there is no need for me to update it. So if you need me to make changes in it please let me know.
If you are here don't look on the chimney for beer, because it wil get to warm.I will keep one in the fridge for you, but be sure to take a designated elf with you. Don't want to get you in trouble with mrs. Santa claus and with all the other kids missing out on their present!
Hmmm.. Beer.....Belgium?
Anyway,cheers and enjoy,

Good boy Emiel :-)

I was curious how his reaction would be to my unshamefully guessing game about his whereabouts. I was soon to find out:

Quote:
So so, this first-timer is gissing.
Not only Belgian people drink beer
I'm sure that there will be something in santa's bag from your wishlist, no need to change that for me.
Nevertheless, nice going with "Read my lips". Santa was very amused
And an amused santa is a giving santa.
Are you already a bit curious?
I would be running to the door every time the doorbel rings

That sure triggered the inner child in me and soon I found myself rushing home from work to check if any deliveries were made. Whenever the doorbell rang I hasted myself to the door outrunning my kids. Move out tof the way daddy's gift is coming!
Time to let the old man know what he had unleashed:

Quote:
Hello again Santa,

Not belgium hmmm... No hints or whatsoever? :-)
You really got me under your spell, everytime the doorbell rings I rush to the door. Today the family and I went out for a walk in our local zoo and when we came back from it I noticed myself eagerly checking the mailbox if there was a notice for a delivery(usually they will leave it at your neighbors house if they are at home) ,but there wasn't.
I have to say this defenitely brings back the little boy in me, the anticipation, waiting, dreaming,I might even end up just playing with the giftwrap.
I just wanted to say: Thank you for tormenting me!

For some reason this triggered the inner devil in my SS as I got this reply:
Quote:
Dear Emiel,

It's not my typical way of dealing with people, but I must admit that I really enjoy the tormenting
Did you and the family enjoyed Dierenpark Amersfoort?
The Santa family has already been visiting Burgers Zoo in Arnhem and Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen, but not Dierenpark Amersfoort.

I can tell you that the sleigh has departured with all the gifts, including yours.
So keep running to the door when the bell rings, and your patience will be rewarded any day now.
As soon as you get your package, you can hold it, lift it up, shake it, sniffle it or even lick it. But you would be building up your caracter a lot, if you wouldn't open the gift before december the 25th.
Ain't that a difficult goal?

See you soon.
Greetz,
Santa

What a surprisesurprise My SS also lives in the Netherlands! All my efforts to get my hands early on the gift have been in vain because they weren't even send yet. And even worse now that they are on their way to me I was not allowed to open them untill the 25th.
All kind of thoughts came to mind on how I could get those gift opened, without anyone knowing it. One thing that came to mind was that I would make my entry on this geeklist on the 25th or later and pretended that I waited untill the 25th of December.
But I couple days later when I received a large box, I had to rethink my devious plan. The box said:
I will be coming for that beer any time soon now!!!!
Shoot.. What if he showed up at my doorstep and I had to admit that I already opened the gifts...The Shame.....

So I opened the box and this was what was inside:

Time to rethink my tactics. It was time for serious measures, so I pulled an ace out of my sleeve: My kids wouldn't be able to resist unwrapping this big shiny gift just waiting for them within their reach! Mhoewahahahh..
But for some reason my oldest two daughters (2 and nearly 4)weren't interested at all in it, like the bearded man himself had warned them to keep their hands of.
So instead I just shook the gifts and weighed them, compared their measurements to pictures from the BGG pages. Time to send a letter to Santa to let him know what he almost made me do:

Quote:
Hello Santa, or should I say Hell Santa!

So you are even more closeby than I initially thought you were.
Today I received a box from The Summoner containing 2 giftwrapped parcels and a Vercors memoir 44 bonus campaign booklet. I already shook the boxes and looked at the size to make an estimated guess of what is inside the parcels.
My estimate guess is that the first one has something in common with the campaignbooklet( theme /dice)
The burden of waiting to open the present weighs heavy on me... Must resist.. my precious... (subtile hint of what I believe is in the smaller package)

But I must be strong and resist the force pulling me towards the parcels

Anyway, thank you Santa and if you are ever near Amersfoort with your kids, Dierenpark Amersfoort is definitly worth the visit!

Emiel ((Hopefully )the master of internal struggles)

And just when I had given in on waiting to open the presents on the 25th of December I received Santa's last message:

Quote:
Dear Emiel,

You're the greatest.
I've had a splendid time being your secret santa.
I've enjoyed it very much and hope you did too.
But there has been enough tormenting, so open your gifts and enjoy.
I just hope you'll be putting a message on the geek on how you've liked the gifts from santa.
Like I'm closer to you than you may think, maybe you're also close to your guess ...... orrrrrrrrrrr maybe not

Meeeeeeeeeerrrrryyyyyyyyyy christmas.

I received this message while I was at work during an evening shift. As soon as I was of the clock, I rushed home and immediatly started unwrapping the gifts, and this was what was inside:

D-Day Dice

and this one

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game - Khazad-dûm

Not soon afterwards I found myself playing my first game of D-day dice and didn't get to sleep untill 2:30 in the night.

This was a great adventure and I had a blast, BGG SS is awesome! I am definitely in for next time.

Thank you Santa, it was really great.

Came home today, greeted by a package.

I hope Santa doesn't mind that I opened it already! I want to make sure I get plays in this holiday season.

First off,

This is a game that intrigues me. I love Volko and really can't wait to see how this one plays!

But... that's not all!

I also received:

I LOVE the iPad app and can't wait to try out the boardgame. Should be a blast!

And, last but certainly not least is the item I am most excited about:

I have had the opportunity of playing this one a few times with friends and it is a great game to finish off a night of gaming. My sons both love it, too, and I will probably begin playing this tonight!

And that's not even all!

I am a complete dice-o-phile so this is a perfect cherry on the gift sundae.

Thanks so much!

Great gifts from a great Santa!

I arrived home from work today to a large packaging sitting on my front step. My secret santa was nice enough to let me open my package as soon as it came in. I doubt I would've been able to wait anyways.devil Here is what I found inside the package besides packing peanuts.

Four packages! I was blown away by the generosity of my secret santa. I was also sent Geek Gold from my secret santa, so I was able to get some microbadges and an avatar. Here is what was inside the package:

- Seven Sisters
- 7 Wonders
- Android Netrunner
- Power Grid: Robots expansion

I can't thank my Secret Santa enough. I can't wait to get these games to the table!

Got a message from my Santa that the sleigh was on its way. Unfortunately, I found out that the package was set to be delivered on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and my wife and I were going to be out of town. I quickly set up a hold on the mail so that it wouldn't be sitting on the porch for 3 days. I thought about it all weekend, especially after my wife began to tease me because her and Santa had coordinated, so my wife knew what was on the way. All day today,I anticipated getting home and ripping the packages open. I got home and the box was there!

I opened it to find this:

In the card, Santa gave me permission to open them, but said that it might be nice to have one for Christmas. cry I selected the two largest ones devil and opened them. Here is what I found:

Thank you so much Santa! This is more than I could have ever hoped for, and there is another game yet to open. I can't wait to get these on the table. My Santa was wonderful in both communication and niceness.

I was just eating dinner when the doorbell rang. Not wanting to make someone wait outside in the cold I hopped up to see who it was. As I pulled back the curtin I noticed a small figure running down my driveway. Upon opening my door I saw a brown box had appeared. At first I thought my wife had ordered something so I brought it into the house and checked the label at which time I noticed it was for me. I figure it's from Santa since s/he wrote me last week. I have not received instructions on when to open it so I'll set it aside and wait for Christmas.

I'll update this post Christmas day but wanted to say thank you Santa for taking time out of your life for a complete stranger.

Have a happy holiday everyone!

Woo hoo!

Got a package from Cool Stuff Inc. today. Of course I tore it open in about two seconds flat. Then I spent another ten seconds wading into an endless pool of styrofoam packing peanuts, but here's what I eventually uncovered:

One of my favourite fillers of 2012!

Also:

The expansion for one of my favourite fillers of 2010!

Outstanding work, as always, Secret Santa. Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to all!

I keep an ongoing wish list that I use to remind myself of games I might be interested in as well as games I know I want. Most of the list tends to be unreleased games.

When my (not so) Secret Santa contacted me to ask that I check over my list I realized everything I'd ranked with a 1 or 2 wasn't out yet. I did a little reorganizing and soon after Santa's cat (Paws) let me know that a gift was en route.

I was hoping for one game above all others and had actually started to make tabs for said game just in case. It was a hard fight through a long holiday weekend but the game arrived today!

I immediately tore open the box to discover the dreaded gift wrapping. Oh no! This could only mean one thing...I'd have to wait until Christmas to actually open the thing.

But there was a card attached so after thinking on it for a bit I decided to go ahead and at least open the card. Thank goodness I did. The note inside instructed me to roll a d6. On a 1-3 I could go ahead and open the gift. 4-6 meant waiting till Christmas.

Another bit of thinking later (I could just say I rolled a 1-3 right?) I decided to play it honest. I've never had such a hard time finding a d6. The first three games I grabbed were Euros (no dice!). The fourth was finally some good ole' Ameritrash and I snatched a d6 from within.

I shook the die as though my life savings were on the line and then rolled a....2

Oh, happy day! I immediately tore into the thing and lo and behold it was the game I'd hoped for. Legendary!

I plan on getting a solo/learning game in tonight. Can't wait! Thanks (not so) Secret Santa. And thanks to Paws as well.

My package arrived today. I opened the shipping box and things were unwrapped so naturally I just kept going and took the shrink off too!

Great selection for the games!

We got Animal Upon Animal and immediately started playing with our 3-year old after dinner. He does pretty well for a few rounds and following the instruction based on the die result. But his greatest joy is seeing them all come tumbling-down.

Next up is Ninjato. I have had my eye on this for a while. Christie is happy to have another worker placement game to try out. Rules are being read now and might be able to sneak in a play if the kiddos go to bed soon.

Thank you very much Secret Santa. Thanks for dropping me so many notes and being such an active participant!!!!
