So many games, so little time. Although one goal I have in 2013 is to play more of the games I own more often, another goal should be to really limit the amount of games I purchase in 2013.

Some of the games on this list are carried over from last year's list, Games we are looking forward to in 2012 because they didn't come out.

Feel free to comment on anything on this list.

Release Date: February 2013

Why I am excited: It uses the dice-building game engine from Quarriors, and players lead an army of brave men, wise elves, battle-hardened dwarfs, and even the short-statured but stout-hearted hobbits – represented by custom dice – to stand between Sauron and his armies of orcs, goblins, trolls and ringwraiths as they scour the land to find The One Ring.

Release Date: August 2013

Why I am excited: I am a big fan of The Dice Tower and Tom Vasel, and I have this pre-ordered. I'm really looking forward to the negotiation, bluffing, mafia. I like that it has dice, cards, a board, and an overall great theme. Here's a brief description:

Nothing Personal is a game for 3-5 players. Players attempt to gain the most respect in five turns (five years) by amassing respect amongst the mafia through influence, negotiation, blackmail and bribery.

Players take turns playing influence cards to take control of gangsters and work them up the chain of power. Each position and gangster has their own special abilities that give players the edge they need to accrue the respect they deserve - to become the Boss of Bosses.

Release Date: hopefully early 2013?

Why I am excited: It has 45 new cards and start worlds to add to the base set, plus a set of action cards and start hand for a fifth player, and 45 cards and Alien tokens used to represent the Alien Orb which players jointly map and explore, gaining tokens of various types that provide powers and VPs. (sounds like teams or co-op to me)

There are also five new Explore action cards used to map the Orb (instead of gaining an additional card or greater card selection). The Alien Orb scenario provides a new RFTG experience, as players have to balance how much effort, resources, and actions they wish to put into exploring the Orb versus developing their empires.

Release Date: Spring 2013

Why I am excited: I love RFTG, and I like dice games, so this might be a lot of fun and a little more accessible to my spouse who hates RFTG primarily for the massive use of iconography on the cards.
