This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Not terribly thrifty but quite the bargain. Saw this behemoth sitting in shrink looking all pretty on a high shelf behind the counter. The shrink is ripped off at one corner and a few shrink rips here and there. One corner looks like it was struck against the wall, but the damage is minimal. Other corners have regular shelf wear. Will be VERY hard to resist the urge to open this one up but it seems the value is strong here even at $15. Sticker on the corner said it was from Nobleknight.com based in WI, but glad it made the trip down here…
Don’t know if this has great value but figured I could easily make more than $2 bucks here. Might give it whirl but it’s also hard to convince my group to play anything Risk-related. The figures look real good in this one. Cards are crisp and I doubt this was even played – Box in good shape, not great though. Everything is complete outside of the 10 dice! I have spare 5 white dice, but not black – anyone know a game with 5 black dice?
Edit: Now complete! 5 white dice from Last Chance and 5 black dice from Showdown Yahtzee. Making this a 5.97 purchase, along with spare chips and nice dice tray to play various games with (works VERY well w/ Zombie Dice)
$1.90 @ Unique bagged with Leapin’ Lily pads (so $0.95/game)
This was the prize in the bag! Complete and box/components in fantastic condition. The wooden tiles look great and the colors are vibrant. Very happy finding this. It was most likely destined to go on the thrifting for you list if it ever freed up – but not anymore!
Zero interest here as I had no trouble paying for Hive at 1.90 alone. But this has two things going for it: (1) Ravensburger and (2) Knizia. Actually gave it a play – a nice little memory game. Would be PERFECT for a growing geek. This is destined to be an add-on to a trade partner that has potential geek on their hands.
Interesting theme along with piddle markers. Ratings are average at best, but I know my GF will enjoy this dog-themed game so this buy was strictly for her enjoyment. Everything was bagged by color, but it was still missing 1 newspaper (specifically, #5). Box states 1-2 hours but the rules don’t seem too complex so I wonder if the game gets repetitive. Nice dog miniatures though…
A decent haul over the weekend I think; listed my prize 1st of course.
Picked up this one at Arc for $8, has most of the terrain, markers and dice, but only 1 mini but has the hive. Box wasn't bad either. I will be looking for a set that has the mini's but missing the terrain. I know the last set I completed sold for $$ and quickly.
Found this monster at Arc for $2.99. Mostly complete, missing a few cards and the cover screw. Pulled out my parts set, and it is now listed for sale, no corrosion in the battery compartment. Box has normal corner repairs to make. I wish I had this a few weeks ago, I know it will be for sale for a longer time.
My first thrift run of the new year.. And the first in a few months. I wasn't expecting much... And definitely not this. $1.50... yes please. Box is worn and taped like a kidnapping victim. I'll crack it when i get home to check the contents.
EDIT: I just opened it up. Everything is bagged nicely. Aside from the wear on the box, the game appears punched but unplayed. The cards are pristine and the board seams are tight. I didn't realize this was selling so high! I'll give it a go with my girlfriend, and depending on how that goes this might find its way to the trade pile.
New in shrink from Poco Domane, a store where they sell household goods ranging from furniture, paints, tools, kitchenware, curtains, tablecloths, office stationary, hobby supplies and also some (board) games.
It's a leftover from the Lego games sale they had two weeks ago but which I only found out about much later. Hoping there were some left, I went there today and got the last copy!
Price I paid: 10,- EUR --- price on Amazon: 24,- EUR
This version. Complete contents and in a condition that indicates only one play. The Pat/Kris team fell to the Dan/Richard duo 7775 to 10000. The box looks as new as the day it was purchased with only slight surface rub. $1.50 StV
