Not sure if this is going to fly but I thought it would be nice if we had a list of AoS maps where players rated the maps by number of players.

Please note the following wonderful lists and posts:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/5009
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/80879
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/108250

10 = Superb, 8=Excellent, 6=Good, 4=Poor, 1=Does not work, NA, Never Played)

Please Rate each Map with the following:
Overall Rating:

3 Players:
4 Players:

The random aspects of the steamboat movement don't appeal to me, thus the lower ratings than other maps. As to missing player counts, I wouldn't play with either 3 or 6 players.

Very nice and tight for building, without much rule change. One of my favorite maps to introduce newbies to the game.

I'm curious what you guys think the sweet spot is for # of players on this one? The combined map is physically large but does it scale down well?

Holland is fantastic with 3 (10/10)
with four, I imagine players would have to be either crazy or very experienced.

Madagascar was kind of weak with 3 players. Too much space, and the auction felt kind of random. (6/10)

Comment about playing with 3: Playing thee player on most AoS maps is going to be unsatisfying--not for the map, but for the fact unless Locomotive is modified, it gets taken every turn. By about 5th or 6th turn (i.e. about halfway), most of the players should have 6 trains the breaks down to to whoever finds the most sixes to deliver.

The best three player usually have rules to reduce the effect the effect of Loco (Ireland--allows second upgrade in lieu of a delivery & Japan--makes the +1 temporary).

I would suggest playing any three player game by modifying these rules (or eliminating Loco)

That is sadly unlikely. However I suspect you may get some idea of my sensibilities on track laying by playing AoS:Sun. Given your playing preferences I would specifically recommend playing with 4 players.
