There are are many games that are released to the public to print out and play. Right now I am not in a position to be able to buy many games so I love the idea of being able to print some new games. I am not talking about games that people have scanned so others can print them. The games I am referring to are the games that people created for gamers to play and enjoy at no cost.

I would appreciate your comments on any of these games you have played.

*I have updated the list to allow public additions. I was able to keep up with all the great new free games being released!

In this little tactical wargame dice are used as playing pieces, representing resources, troops and damagecounters. With 36 dice per player, lots of dice will be involved in this game.

This tactical game for 2-4 players is very easy to craft.

An experienced PnP'er should be able to do this in less than an hour.

English and german version available.

This game came in the final round of the Hippodice game designers contest 2012.

We (my brother and I) gave this an 8 because we reckon 10 is for THE BEST FREE PRINTABLE GAME IN THE WORLD and 9 is for a game that's better than Ringmaster, but still not TBFPGITW.
That's not saying this game isn't very good, because it really is! If you're looking for a good and entertaining game, Ringmaster is definately worth a try. The advanced ruleset available doesn't seem to add much excitement, but that doesn't really matter, the basic rules are decent enough.

+ Good ruleset
+ Obviously beta'ed for a while (since 2000)
+ Beautiful map
+ If you know RISK, you're halfway to understanding the game

- The cards could use a make-over. They look too simple compared to the rest.
- Could use more cards, more variety.
- Might need a tiny bit of extra spice, but I can't think of what that would be.

8/10

Godswake is an Adventure game for 2-4 players that plays in about one hour per player. The setting is the near future (or if you read this after 2012, an alternate Earth) when apparently the world is falling apart, but in a very unexpected, mythic, supernatural way. The characters – represented by the players – race against each other to get their hands on an allegedly extremely powerful relic amidst the chaos, with what they may not only be able stop the destruction, but also to assume a god-like power for themselves.

Cisplatina - Board Game
Designer: Julio Trois
Publisher: TroisStudio
http://troisstudio.blogspot.com
Print & Play

In 1822 Brazil had become independent of the Kingdom of Portugal, but in 1825 the United Provinces of the River Plate challenged the new Empire, supporting the separatist movement of the Province of Cisplatina. Dom Pedro I do not hesitate and sent his powerful navy to defeat the rebels and faced his first War on the Continent! During three years, the armed forces of the two most powerful South American countries met in the War of Cisplatina!

"Cisplatina" is a board game for 2-3 players created by Julio Trois, whose theme is the War of Independence of the Uruguay. For 10 rounds, the armies of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguayan rebels waging battles for control of the Uruguayan territory.

"Cisplatina" is a tactical game, where military strategy is very important. Each player must organize his troops, composed of tiles of infantry, cavalry, artillery and ships. The movement is point to point, and the clashes follow the style of the best wargames, using dices and tables, for the resolution of battles.

Farrapos - Board Game
Designer: Julio Trois

Print & Play

On September 20, 1835, began the longest and bloodiest revolution in Brazil's history. In the province of São Pedro do Rio Grande do Sul, was proclaimed a Riograndense Republic. For nearly 10 years, troops loyal to the Empire of Brazil fought epic battles against the troops of the new Republic!

"Farrapos" is a board game for 2 players created by Julio Trois, which has the theme the Farroupilha Revolution. During 11 rounds each army will win the largest number of cities, adding up the maximum points possible.

"Farrapos" is a tactical game, where military strategy is very important. Each player must organize his troops, composed of tiles of infantry, cavalry and artillery. The clashes follow the style of the best wargames using dices and tables, for the resolution of battles.

The packaging is nice, board looks fine, cards as well. Simple setup, and you only need a single d6 to play after having printed the set.

However, this game is neither fun nor entertaining. It's said in the intro text that the "luck factor is present, but on a small scale", which is quite the opposite of what we found today, having played Farrapos for the first (and, sorry to say, last) time! The dice rolls are what determines everything here! You can choose to save your good cards for the important battles, but that doesn't matter at all if you don't make a good roll. Drawing cards isn't exciting, you quickly grow tired of collecting a full hand every turn.

At first I thought I'd met an interesting, intriguing and fascinating woman. Turns out it was just a good-looking bimbo.

A web-published 2-player non-collectable Dr. Who card game.

Why I think you might like this game:

1. Twelve Doctors (TD) deals with the Who Universe in a completely different way than all the other games that have tackled the sprawling subject matter. This is not a game about collecting VPs, or completing dusty objectives in museums, or about ferrying mythical objects from one far-flung planet to the next. TD is a game about thwarting the Master and destroying his minions.
2. TD is a fast-paced Who game.
3. The Master player gets to do really cool things: destroy planets, start interstellar wars, mesmerise the Doctor's companions, use death-dealing gizmos, deploy forcefields, and invade Nexus points with all of the coolest villainy from around Muttar's Spiral.
4. The Doctor has all the gadgets and assistants that you would expect from a decent Who-game. Plus he's able to drop temporal marauders into black holes, or give them a slap with Venusian Aikido, or give them a serious headache with the Hand of Omega.
5. All of the iconic villains appear amongst the cards (not every card is a Dalek or Cyberman).
6. A great deal of the Doctor's assistants make an appearance. Not all, but most.
7. The game is drawn from the entire run - not just the current iteration of Who. So you will see the Axos from Seeds of Doom, the Wirrn from Arc in Space, Kroll from The Power of Kroll, etc. I think you get the idea.
8. All of the Doctors can play a part. Even Paul McGann.
9. The game is designed by someone that has read about 50+ Dr. Who Target paperbacks, played and run a huge number of Who adventures using the FASA RPG, and is a MASSIVE Tom Baker fan.

The game is set in a cyberpunk future, players represent supercorporations rivals, the Zaibatsu, who struggle to obtain the domain and control of the global network of information, Cybernet and for this we serve a large number of agents, mercenaries pawns they use to achieve their targets.

Zaibatsu is a print and play cyberpunk-themed game, each player in game can move pawns, attack the pawns controlled by other players, put new hexagonal blocks to expand the modular board or gain control of the existing blocks to dominate the board and win the game

The game consists of cards, which allows variety of actions to choose, dice that add random and uncertainty to the game, and a modular board which adds replay value to the game, also each player have the opportunity to control simultaneously multiple pawns each one of them with special abilities and restrictions.

In the game will alternate turns until one player obtain a certain number of control counters over the board.

We are in Mecca, the holiest Islamic city in Saudi Arabia and prophet Muhammad's birthplace. Year after year, Mecca receives more than a three million faithful on one of their faith's pillars: the Holy Pilgrimage or Hajj.

We are going to access the inside of the Holy Mosque of Mecca right now, the main shrine of Muslim pilgrimage during the Hajj... the imposing Sacred Kaaba is just in front of us...

In order to avoid crowds during the massive influx of the faithful in the Holy Mosque the organizers have devised an innovative system to control the placement and organization of the pilgrims during their prayers to Allah.

The player who successfully introduces more pilgrims in the Holy Place according to this organization system will be the winner.

17. Board Game: Age of Sovereigns [Average Rating:8.04 Unranked]

At its core, "The Age of Sovereigns" is a military strategy, but the game is not limited strictly to combating. An important part of gameplay is the construction of buildings (common and special buildings, 26 total). Due to these constructions players can multiply their wealth and / or fame, along with the development of the army.
The game is divided into various stages. In the era of "Kingdoms Rising" players gradually get bonuses specific to the kingdom. In the era of the "End of Times" all events are resolved. These two steps constitute the main part of the game, when the players give a variety of orders and fight. In the era of "Destiny" victory points and fines are scored.
The dice are not used during the battles, so the game is not that much random
The game has low downtime and relatively short playing time (30 minutes per player).

GAME COMPONENTS (For Two Players):
A. PnP files include:
1) 3 sovereign cards for each player;
2) 5 destiny cards;
3) 40 combat cards;
4) 8 kingdom bonus cards;
5) 14 End of Times cards;
6) 2 sets of 10 order tokens for each kingdom;
7) 2 sets of 33 building tokens for each kingdom;
8) 2 sets of 15 army unit tokens for each kingdom;
9) 2 sets of 2 (Barbarians) and 3 (Paladins) special army unit tokens for each kingdom;
10) 5 rebellion tokens;
11) other tokens: 6 revolutionary tokens, 9 plague tokens, 1 glory token, 2 Great Conqueror tokens; 6 defend token.
12) 1 playfield for two players.
B. Components NOT Provided (May be Taken From Other Games):
Tokens to represent gold talents. Besides, it is preferable to substitute the tokens of common and special army units by the miniatures from other games (we use Risk: Godstorm).

Yes it's my game but it's FREE! It's print and play! It's a football (soccer) management game which plays solo AND multiplayer.
It's also alive to suggestion and changing in rules as people play.
Some great feedback on it so far and it's not very ink-intensive.

"Thirteen days in October 1962 nearly brought the world to the brink of thermonuclear war. Fortunately, with a combination of political maneuvering and luck, President Kennedy resisted his advisors' insistance for invasion and finally convinced Nikita Krushchev to remove the Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba in exchange for removal of US "Jupiter" missiles in Turkey. What would have happened if no agreement had been reached? What form would the US invasion of Cuba have taken if Kennedy had listened to his advisors? What would the Soviet response be? Time to find out!"

Each player starts with 10 cents and a pawn. By moving through the ever-changing board, you attempt to gain more money than your oponents. Each space has an action associated with it, which can change as the game goes on. These actions can gain you cents, cause you to lose cents, change your location on the board, etc.

"The US was engaged in the Vietnam Conflict from the late 1950’s until the mid 1970’s costing the lives of over 60,000 Americans and over 3,000,000 North Vietnamese, thus being the first American defeat in war. What if the American military had decided to launch an invasion of North Vietnam to force them to sue for peace? Could things have turned out differently or would things have been made even worse?"

So other games that are available for free but not listed on geek are:

daVinci Games has released 6 free games and some of them look pretty good. http://www.davincigames.com/

GobCon at http://www.goblins.net/

I will add these to BGG Database when I get around to playing them.

*And again please suggest other games even if they are not in the BGG DB

A Print and Play version of Mob Ties: The Board Game is being offered for evaluation purposes. If you'd like an invite to the Drop Box folder to download the files, shoot me a message here on the Geek or email me at nisaac01@gmail.com.

We've got more info on our game page here on BGG, and even more infor at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/362171238/mob-ties-the-b....

We'd love for more people here on BGG to play some evaluation versions of the game and let us know what they think.

Thanks,
Nathan
