There are are many games that are released to the public to print out and play. Right now I am not in a position to be able to buy many games so I love the idea of being able to print some new games. I am not talking about games that people have scanned so others can print them. The games I am referring to are the games that people created for gamers to play and enjoy at no cost.

I would appreciate your comments on any of these games you have played.

*I have updated the list to allow public additions. I was able to keep up with all the great new free games being released!

The game is on Kickstarter with the hopes of getting funding to produce high quality, injection molded dice. In the meantime, the game creator has released a print and play version. You can print to sticker paper and then put the stickers on blank dice or (what I do) print to regular paper and use glue.

You are a head of a noble family who wants to be known in the courts of the kingdom. Your family members can be sent to the villages and from there buy their way into the courts by donating money. Money is gained by sending other family members to work in the mines. Will you manage to balance between the two tasks and lead your family to be the most prestigious one in the kingdoms?

This game was designed with the goal of minimal work: just print 4 pages, take some tokens and dice from other games and you are ready to play.

The game was mentioned in the Spielbox magazine #4/2012 English version

Each player is running their own vineyard. You are attempting to grow grapes and sell them to increase your wealth and also undertake research to improve your knowledge so that you are able to grow each grape harvest more efficiently.

The game is card based and during each turn you typically play a card from your hand and then draw another card from the draw pile.

The game goes over a number of rounds. Each round is ended when one of the players undertakes a grape harvest. The person who harvests is able to gain wealth while their opponent has the potential to improve their knowledge.

The winner is the first person to either 12 points of wealth (with at least 4 points of knowledge) or 6 points of knowledge (with at least 5 points of wealth).

Dead of Night is a 2 to 6 player game based on scenarios you might recognize from various zombie films. There is no 'Zombie Master' here: all the players are on the same side, all working together to survive, although the option to use other players as zombie bait while you grab all the guns and lock yourself in the cellar is there if you prefer.
Either way, you will need to use strategy and your (fresh and spicy) brains as well as chainsaws and shotguns to make it through the night.

In The Big Time!, players take the roles of theater owners in Chicago during the Golden Age of vaudeville, from about 1905 to about 1915. The object is to make your theater the most spectacular in the city by booking the greatest and most diverse roster of acts that you can find (and afford!).

In each of four turns, players bid on the right to select acts first and place those acts in their theaters. After your theaters are booked, you tally up scores to see who was the most successful. Good shows will drive up the reputation of your theater and influence the popularity of the types of acts that you book, but a flop can always set you back!

A fresh theme with dozens of authentic vaudeville acts, terrific illustrations by the inimitable Adam Koford, and some new ideas in bidding mechanics add up to Big Time fun!

Gnostica is an abstract territory based war game. Cards make up the often-changing board. Every card has a power, and when a player has one of his pieces on a territory, he or she may use the power of that territory through that piece. Players also have a hand of cards which allows them to use those powers through any of their pieces.

Gnostica is traditionally played using a Tarot deck; however, a few printable versions of a deck are available, including this one, which I designed:

Logical strategy board game for two players. They take roles of totally bored gardeners, who are fooling around with a small chemist's kit in an old, godforsaken garden. However, that play quickly turns into a competition about who is going to grow more mutated creeper and overwhelm the opponent with it. Only one of them can win. Is it going to be you?

Players aim for reaching a certain amount of points though expansion of their own creeper and blocking their opponent. Points are earned through placing creepers on point-marked tiles or by doing certain actions on the board.

Print & Play

In 1864, South America was in critical condition, in the midst of a constitutional crisis in Uruguay, Brazil invaded Uruguay in support of Venancio Flores, in response, Paraguay invaded Brazil... It was the onset of major armed conflict in the history of the continent! From 1864 to 1870 nearly half a million people lost their lives in a conflict that placed war: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

"Paraguay" is a board game for 2-4 players created by Julio Trois, whose theme is the War of Paraguay. For 10 rounds, the armies of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay must defend their cities and destroy all the defenses of Paraguay. Aiming to conquest Asunción!

"Paraguay" is a tactical game, where military strategy is very important. Each player must organize his troops, composed of tiles of infantry, cavalry and artillery. The movement is point to point, and the clashes follow the style of the best wargames, using dices and tables, for the resolution of battles.
