There are are many games that are released to the public to print out and play. Right now I am not in a position to be able to buy many games so I love the idea of being able to print some new games. I am not talking about games that people have scanned so others can print them. The games I am referring to are the games that people created for gamers to play and enjoy at no cost.

I would appreciate your comments on any of these games you have played.

*I have updated the list to allow public additions. I was able to keep up with all the great new free games being released!

Well, it's my game, so call me lame, but it needs all the exposure it can get.whistle

It's a tile placement game, which started as a variant of Zombie in my Pocket and became big and different enough to warrant its own game entry on the BGG.

It plays solo, mostly, but some scenarios are designed for 2 or more players. The story revolves around the airborne landings of June 5th, 1944, before the Normandy invasion...

I just LOVE the game!!! My brother downloaded it and we played it last week. I like the pacing of the game. Just random enough to re-play while still allowing a bit of strategy. Have you considered the possibility of expanding it by creating new monster decks? I know WE have! hehe

In The Big Time!, players take the roles of theater owners in Chicago during the Golden Age of vaudeville, from about 1905 to about 1915. The object is to make your theater the most spectacular in the city by booking the greatest and most diverse roster of acts that you can find (and afford!).

In each of four turns, players bid on the right to select acts first and place those acts in their theaters. After your theaters are booked, you tally up scores to see who was the most successful. Good shows will drive up the reputation of your theater and influence the popularity of the types of acts that you book, but a flop can always set you back!

A fresh theme with dozens of authentic vaudeville acts, terrific illustrations by the inimitable Adam Koford, and some new ideas in bidding mechanics add up to Big Time fun!

80. Board Game: Lemonade Stall [Average Rating:7.38 Unranked]

Each player is running their own lemonade stall. Your goal is to try and run the stall as profitably as possible. The game involves buying supplies to make the lemonade (cups, sugar, lemons and ice) and then selling the lemonade (hopefully for a profit). The amount of lemonade that can be sold and the amount of profit is dependent on the weather and also on the prices charged by your competitors (the other players). While you might sell lots of lemonade by setting a low price you won’t be making much profit! The game takes place over a week (from Monday to Sunday). The person who is able to run their stall the most efficiently is likely to end the game with the most money and win the game!

Not everything will always go to plan though as the weather can change, events (both good and bad) occur and special benefits can be chosen which will influence what you might do each day.

Yeah, I figured that was a fairly minor one, especially since he isn't a major player. In the grand scheme of spoilers, if that's the kind of thing that would tick you off, you probably shouldn't be on the internet at all.

Rickety Ships (aka: Space Nertz) uses 2-4 standard decks of playing cards and poker chips or pocket change to partially simulate the experience of the space-truck building phase of "Galaxy Trucker". This game is in no way meant to be a build your own "Galaxy Trucker" game nor should it be played instead of playing "Galaxy Trucker." Instead, Rickety Ships is meant more to serve as a new experience for groups who regularly play speed games like "Nertz" or "Pick Two!"

Rickety Ships is played over 3 rounds. In each round, each player seeks to build his own ship from the supply of cards in the middle of the table, attempting to earn as many of the 5 victory points available at the end of each round. At the end of the 3rd round, the player who has earned the most of the 15 available victory points is the winner.

Dead of Night is a 2 to 6 player game based on scenarios you might recognize from various zombie films. There is no 'Zombie Master' here: all the players are on the same side, all working together to survive, although the option to use other players as zombie bait while you grab all the guns and lock yourself in the cellar is there if you prefer.
Either way, you will need to use strategy and your (fresh and spicy) brains as well as chainsaws and shotguns to make it through the night.

Jaffar, the Grand Vizier of Baghdad, was an evil man gifted with magical powers - enough to reduce men to dogs. Using his powers, Jaffar confned Ahmad, the rightful prince of Baghdad, to his palace. But, with the aid of Abu, a young, Indian thief, the prince escaped! Together, Abu and Ahmad travelled to Basra where Ahmad fell deeply in love with a princess, the daughter of a sultan fond of mechanical toys. However, the nefarious Jaffar also desired the princess and gave to her father, the Sultan, a mechanical, winged horse, in hopes that he might bless their union. By lucky accident, Abu released a genie from the bottle where it had been imprisoned and was granted three wishes! His frst wish is for sausages. His second is to know where Ahmad is. The genii transports him to an oriental temple where they acquire the All-Seeing Eye, a gemstone that allows its holder to see anything that he desires. Abu and the genii rescue Ahmad but the princess has been forced to inhale the perfume of the Blue Rose of Forgetfulness and no longer remembers loving Ahmad. The heroes confront Jaffar but the Vizier defeats them, once again, and Abu is transported to the Land of Legend. An old king there gives him a fying carpet and a magical crossbow before sending him home. This is where we pick up the story!

Now it is all down to Abu! He must elude Jaffar while freeing the land from his cruel tyranny, restore Ahmad to his throne, and see the prince and princess happily married.

Each of the players represents an Abu. The winner will be the Abu who frees more of the land from Jaffar. The restoration and marriage are assured once the land is free!

May Allah bless and protect you!

I suggest the free version is the trial version, do I really like this game? Is it my sort of game? Would I like a 'proper' copy?

There are a few games I have that I wish I could have 'tried' first, and there are a few games I tried months after I was going to buy them that I wish I had got at the time, this type of print and play to see if you like it is actually a very good thing. Plus if you don't have the money it doesn't matter how nice the artwork is!

From the Rules:

"Have you ever wanted to build a basketball dynasty to rival that of Wooden’s legendary UCLA teams? How about experiencing the thrill of recruiting, developing and a starting a team of Champions? What about trying to improve a run-of-the-mill team into a tournament team, all while trying to keep your job? You can do all of these things a more in Basketball Dynasty—in under an hour.

Basketball Dynasty is a game about recruiting and developing college basketball players, while trying to qualify for the tournament and win a championship. Each player acts as the head coach of a college basketball team and has 12 years to win as many games, go to as many tournaments and win as many championships as possible. As the coach, you determine who to recruit (do you want solid season performers or the star who can win in the big game), who to develop, who to start and bench, and what style of team do you want (e.g., a group of 'team players' or bunch of talented 'individuals' who happened to play on the same team)."

1 Six-Sided Die
1 Rules Book
1 School Rating Chart
1 Coach Record Sheet

Apparently only available from a now-defunct website (wayback address included in a post on the game page) and only in French. If anyone has an English version, please post a link as the idea sounds interesting, at least what little I can figure out from my three semesters of French in college.

This game variant of Settlers of Catan is inspired by the universe created by Klaus Teuber in Starfarers of Catan. The game alters the original game in some important respects. Players need, however, only a copy of Settlers of Catan and some additional components that can be downloaded for free.

Deadly Harmony is a game that attempts to capture the flavor of old Kung-Fu movies of the 70’s and classic arcade fighting games of the early 90’s. The game-play consists of players keeping hands of cards that represent their potential options. Players execute combat moves by playing cards simultaneously. In the midst of combat the psychological heart of the game unfolds; the players must outwit their opponent by looking for tells, bluffing, and knowing their adversary better than he knows himself.

100. Board Game: Combat Cards Second Life CCG [Average Rating:7.20 Unranked]
Doc Boffin

Combat Cards is a turn based card game of dueling warriors. Players build decks which determine the attacks, blocks, special fighting moves and devastating combos available to them. Skilful Combat Cards players learn the cards and combos available to their opponent during the game and use that knowledge to anticipate their future moves, exploiting them to inflict heavy damage while avoiding damage themselves.

Initially developed in Second Life, Combat Cards is now available for purchase from http://us.shop.combatcards.co.uk (US) and http://uk.shop.combatcards.co.uk (UK) and as a print and play edition from http://combatcards.co.uk

So other games that are available for free but not listed on geek are:

daVinci Games has released 6 free games and some of them look pretty good. http://www.davincigames.com/

GobCon at http://www.goblins.net/

I will add these to BGG Database when I get around to playing them.

*And again please suggest other games even if they are not in the BGG DB

A Print and Play version of Mob Ties: The Board Game is being offered for evaluation purposes. If you'd like an invite to the Drop Box folder to download the files, shoot me a message here on the Geek or email me at nisaac01@gmail.com.

We've got more info on our game page here on BGG, and even more infor at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/362171238/mob-ties-the-b....

We'd love for more people here on BGG to play some evaluation versions of the game and let us know what they think.

Thanks,
Nathan
