What with all the attention given to the latest fad in gaming, I figured it was about time that we all looked back to our roots and gave some credit where credit was due. Yeah, that's right - it's time to stand up and recognize the Ameritrash game. So what exactly makes an Ameritrash game? Find out below.

Neutrals exist just to be invaded.
These countries where created by history just to be available to you at the moment the game begins. No United Nations reproval or other players economic sanctions here.

O.k. some dice, but they MUST be cubic
Are we role players? No, we're ameritrashers ! So no "give me this D20" must be ever said. The correct sentence is "I'm going to atack, give me two handful of dice (cubic)".

GLOSS
Game boards must be covered in inordinate amounts of shinyness that can only lead to making the board hard to read. All cards, tokens and other such accessories are strongly encouraged to follow this example.

Introductory [RPG/Wargame]/Boardgames
Games like the above, Dungeon Quest [TSR], Necromunda, Spacehulk, Warhammer Quest, and so on ad nauseam.
Designed to get people who may have only played boardgames interested in your regular Wargame or RPG, GW and TSR/WotC are the kings of this type of game.

"Strategic luck"
It is that feeling of: "Well, my turn. I have 1 life left and you 2. If I don't kill you this turn you will kill me with your 3 Shivan Wurms. I have no cards left in my hand, but another stupid land. Oh man, there is no strategy that can handle this bad luck. I have been getting lands for 3 turns in a row now. Let me draw my card...Shock!"
Also,
Addictive
Ameritrash games are extremely addictive.

Money!
And we are not talking about some ugly cardboard coins that supposedly represent european medieval currency. Ameritrash has paper bills, that fit a lot of zeroes. Hey, boy, this is capitalism!

Capitalism
I've made my case in the comments on earlier items that Warhammer 40,000 is, in fact, the Ameritrashiest Game of All Time. It took our cousins from across the pond to really understand Ameritrashism and bring it to the high perfection that is embodied in all GW products, but Warhammer 40,000 most of all. And GW added something to the mix that no one else really succeded at: soulless, money-grubbing capitalism. What other games have a whole network of retail stores finely designed to pry every penny from the hands of young proto-gamers? Not only don't they sell any products from other companies--last time I checked, they don't even sell all of their _own_ products, becasue the historical wargame rules might lead you to buy miniatures from someone else.
Games Workshop is the Wal-Mart of gaming and 40K is their great triumph.

Fortressat can be a bit clunky, but then again so is an armored space marine sawing acid-spewing aliens into chunks with a chain gun and a blow torch. It's also a hub of trashtalk and the PB&J (passion, beauty, and joy) of Ameritrash games and culture. Plus, every time I post there, my computer pours me a beer. Hmmm, see ya...

I haven't been able to get my computer to pour me a beer no matter where I post.
I love AT-style games (though I do dabble in other types, too), just haven't been able to get in the groove over there, I guess, and I find better resources here, even for AT-style games (every game I own has player aids from BGG inside the box, every time I get a new game, the file areas and message areas here are the first places I look).
