Is it just me? Look, I don't want to get tagged as some sort of green ink merchant. The sort of person that stands on street corners advising all comers to wear a tinfoil hat to stop the CIA from controlling your mind but...

Some games, just a few. The gameplay is great, neat mechanic, nice theme but...

Somehow there is just something, perhaps one action or a point you always reach that just niggles and niggles and niggles because, in the context of the theme, it is just not logical. And it gets worse over time. It builds with every play. One day you blurt it out and are ignored. Then suddenly people don't want to play this game with you. They are afraid you are going to start banging on about the same old point over and over again.

Are you following me?

Let me explain by way of an example. Then please, add more, show me I am not alone. wow

Ah, the Space Marines, the emperor's greatest warriors. Trained since childhood in combat, pushed past physical and mental human limitations into something far greater, taught to feel no fear, nor pain, nor mercy, and cooled into the single most resolute and deadly fighting machine in the galaxy...

...and at the sight of a "terrifying entity," they flee like startled deer (after failing a leadership test).

- okay, we got some money. should we use it to buy weapons? ships? anything else?

Shipbuilder: Nothing to worry. We just push her hard, and our skillfull helmsman will be able to navigate her 2 spaces right past the two government officials that will be checking only business standards and give us favorable rating.

Manager: But.. even the testing canal is 2 miles away?

Shipbuilder: Yeah, but our new ship will automatically begin her shakedown cruise there, as our latest ship finisher her cruise.

Manager: I see. Excellent work. Set sail!

Next, along comes a gunnin' either a compatriot or a renegade to shoot the fish in a barrel sheriff, but luckily everyone realizes that this action is impossible because
the sheriff has his mustang in jail with him.

No bang there but the next participant can reach, it turns out, and luckily again the fish/sheriff in a barrel has a barrel in prison with him to stand behind and skates by unscathed again while his helpless deputies watch and wait.

Daqan King: Ah, spring. Let's go build a stronghold somewhere!

Daqan peons: Right away sir.

*** 3 months later ***
Daqan King: What a great summer. Let's go through our cities and Rally support for our cause!

Daqan peons: Huzzah! Hail to King *insert your name here*!

Daqan King: Ah, now lets find some nice Heroes to interview.

Daqan peons: Sorry, m'lord, but when the Heroes got wind of you building that stronghold, they all went into hiding! You'll have to try again next year.

*** 3 months later ***
Daqan King: A brisk fall day. A good day to lay seige to our enemy! Attack their stronghold!

Daqan peons: Right away, sire! However, we won't be able to thwart their defenses. When we built our Stronghold and rallied support in our cities, out troops decided not to put the extra effort into taking out that fortress.

Daqan King: *sigh*

To be honest, I really like the mechanic of the Supremacy bonus stuff depending on initiative numbers, encouraging conquest earlier in the year and the more "housekeeping" things later. And some of them kind of make sense, like it being harder to lay seige in the winter, for instance. But sometimes the interaction between them could be a bit weird.
