Free Print and Play solitaire boardgames (or multiplayer games that have solitaire rules). Most of the games on this list were found thanks to Donald Seagraves's (DSeagraves) excellent Canonical Lists of Free Print-and-Play Games (see: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/7690). See also the Print_and_Play_Games wiki page.
Only 'PnP games' that include all or nearly all necessary components in the downloadable files are included in this list (hence, no miniature rule systems, etc.). PnP games that ore only free if you register at some website or if you have a download code from a magazine are excluded from the list (games have to be really free). If you know a game that should be on this list, please add it.

I discovered this one recently and used it for testing Artscow. Now I'm having a blast playing it. The designer is a BGGer and is very responsive to questions on the game's BGG page.

It's a Steampunk themed game in which you have 60 (game) hours to search a city for the components of a fabled device whilst the eponymous Clockwork Cabal tries to thwart you. The city has shifting geometry, with locations that can shift positions and no guarantee that you can re-trace your steps. Plays in about 20 minutes.

A (rather) new addition this list! Thanks to Mike for finding it. Do you have any comments about the game, I've followed your recommendations on other games, so . . . is this worth printing and putting together?

There's some bugginess in the rules, as there always is with his games, but I notice someone else has asked the pertinent questions. I think every PnP is worth making at least a quick mock up copy to tinker with; that's how we learn what we like.

From the Rules:

All Time Championship Soccer lets you can relive the excitement, passion, glory and defeat of taking a national team through the World Cup. Choose from 64 national teams, representing that country’s best team ever to play in the World Cup. Each team is statistically generated to match its performance in the World Cup. Attempts, shots on goal, defenses, strategy, formations, yellow and red cards, corner kicks, penalty kicks, free kicks, injuries, key players, offside traps, marking players, long ball tactics, counter attacks, packed in defenses, home field advantage, hand balls, disallowed goals, bad calls by referees, penalty shootouts and sudden death are all present for you to maneuver through group play and the knock-out rounds with the hopes and dreams of making it ultimately to the Finals. All Time Championship Soccer is a strategic level game that still lets you make game changing decisions by selecting from 9 different formations, 3 distinctive strategies, and 7 unique tactics—all while allowing play of several games in a matter of minutes. Each game only takes 5-15 minutes to play, allowing you to play an entire tournament in a few hours. There are 6 levels of play: Basic, Advanced, Premier League, Tournament, Solo and Quick Play. However, each level is relatively easy to grasp and you should be playing a game within minutes of reading these rules.

Resolve the age old question of whether Brazil 1970 is the greatest team of all time. Rematch Germany 1954 against Hungary 1954 and try to recreate the “Miracle of Bern.” See if you can do the impossible—taking Dutch East Indies 1938 from qualification to the Finals!

My memory of it was that it wasn't really finished. Things in it didn't work. There was a vassal module made of it on www.vassalengine.org

It was also the first vassal module that I ever tried to make. I didn't finish it. I made a whole bunch of mistakes on it. But someone else made one and I chose not to submit mine. Learned a lot though.

While it was going through another round of testing, a publisher was checking it out which meant putting a hold on releasing free content.

I have both AotD:T modules as well. I only got them recently so I'm pretty sure they are both still available. I haven't managed to make it through a game yet; I keep getting interrupted somehow (emergency call, thunderstorm killed computer, etc.) It seems like it will be a fun game.

S/M: Solitaire or up to 3 players
Genre: Sports simulation
Short Description: Banzuke Shoushin (番付昇進 'Rise through the ranks of sumo') is - as the name already indicates - a sumo wrestling career simulation game. Hence, it does not focus on individual bouts (even though hundreds of fights are simulated during the game), but on the whole of a rikishi's (sumo wrestler) career. There are 12 rikishi in the game, but only one or a small number of those are player-controled; the others are 'automated', i.e. controled by the game. During a single game year, rikishi first train, which means that they improve their skills in 1 or 2 of 5 different areas of skill (endurance, strength, weight (yes, that's a skill here...), speed, technique). In the meanwhile their oyakata (stable masters, comp. coaches) try to improve their spirits, which works like a 6th skill. After training the basho (tournament) begins. A whole year of sumo (6 basho) is condensed into a single tournament (of 45 bouts) in the game. Every bout is decided by the match tactic and a number of dice. Rikishi can try to influence the match tactic such that it matches their strongest skills (or the opponent's weaknesses). After the basho the banzuke (ranking) is adjusted, rikishi age one year, and some retire (forcibly or voluntarily). Then the next year begins. A full game lasts well over 10 hours, but is easily split in multiple 1 hour sessions.

It's easy to download and to print. Plus, it's really fun!! It's the perfect PnP combo for me.

As an aside, like most of my favorite games, it taught me a little more about the subject matter and stimulated a new interest for me.

Like most here I discovered this game as a child and when my grandmother threw it away while I was in the Army. I spent the better part of 10 years looking for from places like Crazy Igor before there was an Internet. Once the internet was invented I found a second hand copy on ListGroup for $15.00. It is the copy I still have but no box. I do have the downloadable copy as well for back up.

I love this game and even created my own game based on its theme but being much more extensive.

I just printed this out and am starting on my second play through. The first one ended on day three. Note to self, challenging six wood elves to combat was probably not the wisest choice. I was hoping to rout them, but I only managed to kill one.

A fan is working on a graphic redesign for this game. See this thread: possible re-design for some really great work.

Speaking of redesigns, I'm contemplating doing the Magic Realm redesign by Karim but thought I'd start with this one instead as it appeared far less complex and needed far fewer components printed.

This game rocks! I love playing my favorite side in this solo card game about The War of Northern Aggression. The art is cartoony, but that adds to the game for me. If I wanted to play a serious wargame about the American Civil War, then I would own Lee at Gettysburg: The Battle for Cemetery Ridge (Gold Edition)

This is a fun puzzle game, well worth the time and effort to make. I can't say I'd rate it a ten, but it's fun.

From the Rules:

"Have you ever wanted to build a basketball dynasty to rival that of Wooden’s legendary UCLA teams? How about experiencing the thrill of recruiting, developing and a starting a team of Champions? What about trying to improve a run-of-the-mill team into a tournament team, all while trying to keep your job? You can do all of these things a more in Basketball Dynasty—in under an hour.

Basketball Dynasty is a game about recruiting and developing college basketball players, while trying to qualify for the tournament and win a championship. Each player acts as the head coach of a college basketball team and has 12 years to win as many games, go to as many tournaments and win as many championships as possible. As the coach, you determine who to recruit (do you want solid season performers or the star who can win in the big game), who to develop, who to start and bench, and what style of team do you want (e.g., a group of 'team players' or bunch of talented 'individuals' who happened to play on the same team)."

Components:

1 Six-Sided Die
1 Rules Book
1 School Rating Chart
1 Coach Record Sheet
14 School Roster Boards
25 Red Chips
150 Blue Chips
168 Player Counters (General Supply)

This is a bit of fun for those that like dice (when solo, I imagine it's better multiplayer), and could be played anywhere you can roll dice. It's a bit random for solo, but it's certainly worth a try.

Don't know why this game is pictured with a ton of six sided dice, as you only need 2 or 3 at most, plus a 20 and a 12 sided.

I would've printed & tested it, but didn't like the idea of using normal six-sided dice for it.
So if/when this comes out, I'm definitely gonna take a look at it, if it were only for the dice.

You can find the rules for some more solitaire games at http://www.angelfire.com/games2/warpspawn/SOLO.html. In most cases, you'll have to design the necessary components yourself, however.

Thanks for the list. Great job.

I'd be more interested in having the titles sorted out in Ranking order though.

I will lend my vote to keeping it alphabetical. Ranking has little impact on me but being able to actually find a game I am looking for is of much more value to me. I have never found a list sorted by ranking that I didn't wish was sorted alphabetically or in order of being added.

Too bad you can't optionally change the sorting for personal viewing preference.
