It occured to me that, while we love the recent works of our favorite designers, or their middle period in the very least, the early times aren't always talked about.

So, I give it to you. Sorted by rank, here are the first productions of the creators of BoardGameGeek's most popular games.

Natch. ^_^

Update: Over the next few days, I'll be updating this list to reflect some of the corrections people have been offering, due to minor errors in the BGG database. A question I have for you is this: would anyone be interested enough if I was to expand this list from the Top 50 games to the Top 100?

A few games claim to be Dr. Knizia's first game, including Desperados, Gold Digger, and Neue Taktikspiele mit Würfeln und Karten. #2 Tigris & Euphrates, #11 Ra, #23 Taj Mahal, #25 Samurai, #26 Modern Art, #37 Amun-Re, #45 Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation, #46 Through the Desert, and #50 Ingenious certainly held their own.

Wolfgang Kramer was miles away from area controlling #6 El Grande, as was his buddy Richard Ulrich. The two of them also designed #7 The Princes of Florence. With Michael Kiesling, he made #49 Maharaja: The Game of Palace Building in India.
