Games new to my arsenal since November 2006

I have gone off the deep end, accumulating games at an unprecedented and unhealthy rate. I make this list to remind myself of this in the hope that is helps me slow myself down. I mean, I started this list at the end of February 2007, and at the time had added 45 BGG entries in under 4 months. And I don't even game all that often!
Fortunately wallet-wise, a lot of those games were received in trades, so I was only paying shipping. The other added bonus of such things was that I managed to clear some unwanted games off the shelves. Even cheaper for me are the games I just downloaded rules for, and already have components for. I am sure some would argue that I do not actually own those games, and they would be right, but I nonetheless consider them to be in my gaming arsenel, since I have everything I need to play them at any time. Well, everything except the players. Which always seem to be the hardest components to come by. Perhaps I'll download some of those.

11/1/08 -- Included in friend's game order
Enjoy playing this, though it competes for playing time with Time's Up! Deluxe.

11/17/08 -- purchase from O'Lantern, Longshadow & McCobb
I had really been wanting a copy since trying a partnership game a while back. When someone posted on the Geek that somebody actually had it in stock, I was quite surprised. When my copy arrived, I was quite surprised. And if I ever get around to playing it, I will be quite surprised.

02/21/09 - Valentine's Day gift
This is one of those annoying games. I love the way it looks, I like the theme. I just don't expect to give it enough table time to make it worth getting. But I still had to have it. Annoying, huh?

5/8/09 -- promo card
Meh card, but for the completist... Arrived before Dominion and Dominion: Intrigue.

5/15/09 -- gift from friend's Tanga order
My friend picked this up from Tanga and figured he may as well get me one while he was at it. A good game, I think, if you can stand all the mental backtracking to figure out all the steps you need to go through to get to doing the thing you're trying to do. Too much mental effort for too little fun, if you ask me.

7/16/09 -- Thoughthammer order
Love this game. Had to have my own copy. The release of Intrigue seemed like a good time to put in an order.

The completist in me had to have this. Stupid Cathars. It's not like I ever seem to play Carcassonne anymore anyway.

7/16/09 -- Thoughthammer order
A game that had piqued my curiosity for a while. I enjoy our local Oh Hell! variant, and this seemed like it might add a mildly interesting element to it.
I don't expect much from it, but sometimes when you're building up to free shipping, this is what you do.

7/16/09 -- Thoughthammer order
Not on my order originally, I selected this to replace a game that would not be available when Dominion: Intrigue came out.
I enjoy co-op games a lot, so who knows -- this might be up my alley.

7/16/09 -- Thoughthammer order
Not on my order originally, I selected this to replace another game that would not be available when Dominion: Intrigue came out.
I had played this once, and had a good enough time playing it, despite it being pretty mindless. Had buyers remorse before it even arrived. I don't really seeing it getting any significant playing time. I wound up subbing it into my order because I just couldn't see anything I really was interested in having.

7/27/2009 -- gift
A Tichu buddy noticed my fondness for Tom Wham games, and brought me a couple he had lying around.

8/20/2009 -- gift
My buddy saw this in a game store and figured I didn't even know about it yet. Well, it was on my wish list, so I did know about it vaguely, but a nice surprise.

9/11/09 - Birthday present
I got this before I even knew it had been released. A solid, if unspectacular, entry in the Empire Builder line. I was hoping for something that would spice up the franchise in a new way, but this one is essentially Lunar Rails II with a lot of cutesy reference to Mars-related fiction.
Still, fun with crayons.

9/13/09 - Birthday present
A gift from someone who went to the Grand Canyon. This is exactly the kind of two-bit schlock that you usually expect as tie-in material.
Lovely sturdy box, nice thick board, adorable playing pieces, and the tried-and-true "he who rolls better wins. period." mechanic that people who design games for 5-year-olds inevitably employ.

10/23/09 ThoughtHammer order
Well, my buddy's birthday is in Halloween, so what better time to put in an order?
I love Dominion to death, so this was a no-brainer.

10/23/09 ThoughtHammer order
Pulled back from the earlier order that included Dominion: Intrigue, this was finally out and available, so I got it this time around.
One of those "had to have, might never play" games. It is basically the same as a game I played on car rides as a youth. In that game, you keep adding to a string of letters until you form a word or someone challenges you. Here, you add characteristics until someone challenges you to name something that meets all the criteria.
In practice, this will be quite subjective and open to interpretation, what I call the Scattergories syndrome, so I don't know if I'll ever bother to play it.

12/25/09 Christmas gift
My girlfriend's family knows I'm a gamer, but they are not familiar with the Eurogame concept, let alone where to shop for such things, so this is the kind of game they would get for me.
As it happens, I like Balderdash, though I wouldn't expect to play it much in the groups I tend to find for games.
I was surprised that they altered the original Balderdash to a game of five categories, a la Beyond Balderdash.

5/20/2010 Boards and Bits order
Well, hey, when you love a game as much as I love Dominion, you have to get the expansion. Even if you think the expansion isn't that great. Which it isn't.

7/17/10 - Tanga gift
My buddy bought this on Tanga, so he got me one too. Doubt I'll ever play it, but you gotta love a box with this much heft.

9/14/10 - Birthday gift
Believe it or not, even though this wasn't on my radar, two different friends went and got this for me (In one case, the gift turned into Dominion: Prosperity).
This is one of those games that tries but misses. It seems pretty good at first blush until you realize the fatal flaw. It's still not terrible, and does gain bonus points for working as a solo adventure, but too much of your actions are predetermined, and you're really just rolling dice for the most part. Which is a shame.

10/27/10 Thoughthammer order
Well, there I was buying a birthday gift for my buddy, but who wants to pay for shipping?
I'd played Kingsburg a couple of times, and kind of liked it, but wasn't really sold on it. I probably thought there weren't many choices for viable strategies, or the randomness of the die rolls was too much, but then I found myself really hankering to have it. Not sure why.
