After listening to all this Eurogames vs. Ameritrash debate, I was wondering how many users on this site are predominately wargamers. If you are, just add your favorite wargame to the list. I searched a bit and did not find a list like this, so I thought it might be useful so those of us who are mainly wargamers could connect/contact each other.

A combination of military and political strategy with the highest production values sets this game apart. Other favourites are War of the Ring and Waterloo by Richard Berg.

Fantasy wargames are a favorite. This one a little more than Titan because it plays faster. But I do like other genres as well including Ancients, ACW and WWII.

Gosh, it's so hard to pick a favorite, my times playing Third Reich and Squad Leader in the 80's were a lot of fun. Now a days, my time is more limited, so my favorite wargame is the one I can squeeze in in a few hours. This weekend it will be the demo version of Panzer Grenadier, scenario 1.

Recently, my husband and I have been getting involved with Advanced Squad Leader and Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game.

At this moment I own more wargames than I have played, but this one has appeared on the table a couple of times already.
The Phalanx games, and somewhat later Target Arnhem has dragged me into this niche, and from there on I have been reading items to death, here on BGG, resulting in multiple orders at GMT. Now my gaming friends here show increasing interest in my games, so with a bit of luck there'll be a vivid wargaming scene in Eindhoven in a year or so!

I started wargaming in the 1970s, and Squad Leader was among my favorite games back then. Advanced Tobruk captures the excitement of Squad Leader with different mechanics that mak for a faster playing, more tactically interesting game.

I like all of the Advanced Tobruk System (ATS) games I've played, but Advanced Tobruk remains my favorite. There are 24 scenarios and the basic game in the box, with Brits, Italians and Germans. You can add another 72 scenarios and the Americans and French with expansions. The game designer and fans give it incredible support at the Critical Hit Message Board.

Advanced Squad Leader is at the top of my personal top 10 and is the game I play most often, but it's already well-represented on this list (over the past year, however, I've picked up most of the ATS games and I'm impressed by them, particularly Berlin: Red Victory).

I also enjoy ancients tactical combat, and I like siege battles (both AH or GMT's Alesia games could be in this spot). This is my favorite because of the map, the situation, the time pressure on the Romans, the reduction of the city one segment at a time, undermining the walls ...

My other favorite wargames are the tactical man-to-man combat games, like the Sniper/Hetzger/Bughunter/Special Forces series, AH's Firepower, and GDW's Azhanti High Lightning.

I have been a wargamer for 40 years since the late 60s. I have many wargames favorites, RAF, For The People, Fire in the East(one game of Fire lasted over 10 years),old SPI's Borodino,Glory series, Silent War,the old AH's Waterloo, gosh I like a lot of them. Blitzkrieg was my first wargame. Risk I guess I would have to list too. When I met Judy who I would later marry, I started talking about playing Kingmaker, she thought I was wierd but I guess it didn't scare her off. Darn it!laugh Just kidding. She has put up with my wargaming for 27 years now.

From the beginnings of time ......or at least 40 years ago. This game was always a favorite. Simple rules with lots of options available. Pressure on every turn as your fleet tries to remain hidden or you try and find your opponents fleet.

Not my favorite today - that would be ASL, already listed above. The rest of my top five or ten are listed as well (AVL, PoG, Breakout: Normandy, etc). PanzerBlitz still holds a place of honor in my memory as I played it to death in the early/mid 70s. At the peak of my interest we combined multiple sets and used the TO&Es in the playbook to construct massive multimap battles. It hasn't seen my tabletop in over 20 years but it remains a fondly remembered piece of my wargaming development.

I'm a sucker for the Ancient World... There may very well be better systems out there, but I've lots of play time on this one.

Command and Colors Ancients just doesn't DO IT for me. Maybe I just want a sim and not a "game."

Regardless, I have tons of fun with this game and its modules. However, it must be admitted that these are mostly solo plays...
