Love to have! Owned SOLD

This one looks beautiful.. and the good thing about it is that its something I know both my gf and I would love to play so it would actually get to the table a lot..

One of the only pure euros on here.. If you believe in such a term which I do not but I have to classify it as something..

Edit: This game became the third game on my wishlist that I got to own! Wow is this pretty. I bought as an early christmas present for my girlfriend and she loves it already.. I can happily say that this is off the wishlist and categorized under games owned. Now we both saw the 5-6 player expansion and that takes the free spot instantly!

This game is tons of fun. Every person who playes this with me is instantly converted into boardgame geekdome. I've played this game buzzilions of times and still find new ways to win, not easily "solved".

After one play it went immediately to my wishlist! The game EXPERIENCE was just so fun.. I liked it much more than I thought I would and that the game should play well solo makes it a winner in my book.. How much is game and how much is just chaos/fun? Well for once I dont care that much about making meaningful decisions etc. The Chaos adds fun and not frustration in this game. I have now played this more times and it is still a lot of fun.

Edit: I am now the happy owner of this game I have added the Dunwich horror expansion as that ensures that the game stays challenging.

Actually the only game of Arkham Horror I have played was with the Dunwich expansion and it sure was hard but I would like to start out with just the original game and then build on.

Much happiness and joy to be had, it's roleplay-lite and captures fairly well the atmosphere of Lovecraft's cheesey horror...
Be sure to include the words 'cyclopean' or 'stygian' in every sentance and keep a thesaurus handy and don't be stingy on the adjectives!

Kingsport is on the way. Add it to my base game and Dunwich and Ive got one crowded table. Im already using two card tables. FF should go the rout of the wargamers and release the Arkham Horror delux map. All the expansion boards and the base game on one huge 100 fold board.

Owning Battlelore and having it rated a 9, plus it being one of my most played games, really makes this expansion a must buy for me. The deployment system really sounds need and the price is bearable.. Yes I am committed to Battlelore.. No way around it

Edit: My super girlfriend got me this for my birthday.. Can't wait to try it out.

By the way, there's a reasonably active community playing battlelore online using the vassal engine ( http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php)... and apparently the call to arms expansion is just about ready to be added to vassal.. so might be a cheap way to get into it... If you load up vassal it may look like no one is playing... but just hang around in the lobby for 10 minutes .. someone will turn up ...

I was a little disappointed by this game - sure, you can build up armies, but I think you can probably do that anyway so I would concentrate on one of the figure packs and let this one slide.

My best game of BattleLore so far, I took a scenario and thought "Right - Human Cavalry - 2 for 3 Goblins. An archer for a Dwarven crossbowman. Those Blue swords could be blue spearmen. Done". Totally changed the game, very good fun. Now that's hot deployment.

Originally played this amazing game once and really really liked it. The paranoia of what terror your opponent will unleash on your carefully crafted plan really creates a great tension here and the flimsy map board only give me a good excuse to bring out my plexi glass to the table

Its so simple and yet so filled with theme.. Brilliant game

Edit: This has been removed from my wishlist because I now indeed OWN this game! yay and that is the first of the games on my wishlist I get to actually own.. This one will see A LOT of play.

Oh yeah I am all in on this series at this point. It's just such an elegant design wit h constant back and forth action and simple rules that still create incredible tension and narratives.

COH: Guadalcanal will be a stand-alone game in the series and the preview art etc looks amazing. There are a lot of need touches like the japanese will have their own unique Hit chits and there is Hand to hand close combat.

I will probably buy everything that comes out in the future in this series. It's just that good.

Edit: Band of Brothers might have made this one unnecessary for me. Two WW2 tactical games are perhaps one to many but I still might decide and go ahead and order this one.

This one looks and sounds fun. I realise it's an older game that has been out for a long time but I have never played the old one. My understanding of it is that it is a not to serious fast paced game with players being wizards in a maze throwing spells at each other to take each others treasures... I can get down with that

With the FFG production treatment and the fact it plays for 2-4 players it sounds like a winner to me!

Edit: The desire to own this really did die quite fast and there have been remarkably little news about its release. Someone compared it to dungeon twister which is not really positive in my book.

Like to have!! Cancelled my preorder

I am really fascinated by the FAB system and see great potential in it with the unique asset system, the genius way that combat is handled and the special rules for each different situation.

Sicily will be interesting to play with the landing strategy of the allies playing a major role in the game.

A natural pre-order for me.

Edit: I was on a pre-order streak and decided that I would cancel the pre-order that I was least excited about and that I would probably get to play the least. I can still pick it up later though but I need to play FAB Bulge more first.

Its Napoleon, its different to anything else ever made, its reasonably short, its easy to learn.. oh and it has won many awards and has earned high praise here on BGG..but best of all..

A 2nd edition is coming!

Edit: Yeah I wanted this very bad but as time passed I realised it would be the kind of game I just would not get to play a lot. It is too different in its mechanics to pick up easily even though its been a while since last time it was played.

I played this once, and it is a lot of fun. Very unique wargame. I would also recommend Napoleon's Triumph however. While I liked BaM a lot, the fact that it's designed as a fighting withdrawal kind of threw me for a loop, and I suspect that a pitched-style battle like Austerlitz would be more fun.

From the little info there still is on this game I must say I am hooked. The components seem great and the designer Corey Kozniecka can do no wrong at the moment so this will probably be an autobuy if nothing surprising is wrong with the game.

A game that plays a bit like House of betrayal on the hill and arkham horror is right up my gaming alley.

Edit:Lukewarm reviews have made me hesitate a bit on this one after all. There ia already a lot of FFG games in my collection who is competing for playing time.

I am big fan of the setting and of FFG. I already own Battlelore but this seems unique enough with among other things leadership being a major factor.

The production quality also seems really nice.
The icing on the cake would be if there are opportunities for some overlapping between Battlelore and Battles of Westeros. Like scenarios that include components from both games etc? If anyone knows of such I would love to know.

Edit: I removed this because I just dont think it will get played enough. Maybe I get an itch again when the HBO series will come out but right now I don't see it.

Being a major (military)history fan and proud owner of Great battles of Alexander deluxe game, this the second game in the Great Battles of History series really has me excited as a deluxe version.. There is something to be said of thousands of romans squaring off against thousands of Carthaginians when it is portrayed with beautiful counters, great scenario booklets and the hand-picked best battles of the era in this version.

If money was not an issue this would already be owned. I am sorry that it is not

This one goes back in the queue as the complexity of the system is still something I need to get into. I am trying myself on the musket and pike system which is a bit simpler and if that goes well then this one might be on again at some point.

Panzer General 2 is probably my all-time favorite PC game so that fact alone has me interested in this game. Actually many moons ago I did make some of the scenarios from the pc game into boardgames..

This game is a little different in its take in that it focuses on cards to recreate the feel of the PC game. Nonetheless it does look pretty good.

Edit: Reports that the game is just not that deep or particular interesting makes me take it off the list again. Its tough to make this list mind you!

Edit: I do not really see my self buying this anytime soon as Pitchcar and its wonderful fun and expansions somehow cover my need for racing although in a different way.

This game is VERY cool! We always have a blast when we play. Basically each person has a character (the mission and the baddies are run by the game master), and you run around inside your ship to the control consoles (battlestations) in the different areas to do things. Such as to perform a piloting manuever you want to be at the helm controls, to do a science scan you want to be in the science bay. Each player has a particular occupation, such as one might be a pilot, the other a scientist, another a marine. You can control most consoles remotely from another station, but its at a penalty... so the pilot at the helm can fire the ship's guns, but its much more effective to have a marine in the gun bay firing. You can also board the enemy ship and shoot it out, try to capture it, etc.

There are alot of different missions, some are just space battle oriented, some are trying to solve a mystery, rescue missions, etc. Plus you can stream them into campaigns.

I've never actually played a character, I've always been the game master, and I still have a great time when I play... great game.

I'll wait for the computer version to come out so I can play solo. The rules are too complex and too many to get others interested in it.

I just recently became aqcuainted with this game. Having still never played it I think the premise of teh game is very appealing though. You build your own story and evolve your character through the game..

I have no games like this and thats always a major plus.

Edit: For a long time this was on my wishlist but after much consideration I just dont think I have the players for this game. I tend to like decision making in games and I think Arkham Horror is kind of the limit for my group and myself in terms of storytelling before decision making.

The thing is I LOVE wargames but rarely get a chance to play them at the moment. And I don't own a solitaire game and this one just seem awesome. It is the first game from Compass games and with the games they have produced since this one they are quickly rising on my "to watch" screen.

Submarine manouvering and fighting WW2? AWESOME!

Edit: Right now I play games with other people often enough for me to not wanting to play solitaire games. Also I am afraid this one will be just a tad to heavy for me after all.

An epic civilization game from the chechs which booth was so crowded at Essen 2006 that I never got a chance to play it!

All their games were hyped but this one apparently is the only one from that year that is truely great (judging from consensus of most reviews) and luckily for me it is the one I was most interested in all along..

Edit: The other games from the same designer I have played have been less than stellar so I kind of lost interest in this one. Plus the components just don't really excite me enough afterall.

This game is most unlike Vlaada's other games... there's a lot of awesome in this one, but admittedly it doesn't appear that way.

Looks are indeed deceiving, especially in this instance.

But to each their own.

The game is not finished yet but I already know enough to really want this one as I have played the prototype a few times. The reason? Its a Civ game that is playable in a decent amount of time with lots going on both on and off the board. It has everything you need for a great civ game. Modular board, very intuitive and free technology advancement, settlers and warriors, ressource management etc.

Its just great fun and very intuitive!

Edit: Still only a prototpe and the future is uncertain. Great game though.

This is for the edition including all teh expansions. I have played El Grande many times during my life but strangely never owned it. Now that the guy that I used to play it with no longer hangs around I need to pursue my own copy. I have never tried any of the expansion things but they intrigue me ofcourse!

One of the rare games that I love despite NEVER having won playing it.

Edit: Another casualty of the trimming down. The graphics could be better and there are more exciting games around in the same genre like Perikles for instance that has a little more going on.

I recently bought this game from someone who had only played it once, so I bought it cheap. Excellent mechanics. Looks a little dull, but just like Tigris & Euphrates, once you start playing you won't even notice the look.

Early teasers seem good for this one. Very fascinating story in the game and Kevin Wilson is mostly producing big hits in my opinion. Plus I need a good detective sci-fi game. i am really getting a total recall vibe with this game. Which is good thing!

Edit: Its just too expensive and too complex I fear. There are only so many Kevin Wilson games my game groups can support. They are all rather complex and we already enjoy Arkham Horror and Descent.

The user malloc told me about this game at geekchat and I looked further into it and this game just sounds so fun. It is an old avalon hill game.

Exactly the kind of fun, thematic game that I enjoy. Also the old 70s retro styles would be a nice addition to any collection and I know my gamegroup would love this.

Edit: An old game and I feel that there are newer more accesible games out there who will provide the same kind of fun for a group.

It looks like a great system that I would play instead of games like A&A, Risk or Dust. Also the components and the history of the game speaks to me. playable in an evening with rules intended to really make people expand and not turtle the game away.

Edit: The game is pretty expensive. I own a few other conquest games and will need to make room on the wishlist for other games so this one falls off for now.

I found this by coincidence just looking through games on the geek and wow this one looks great! WW2 setting.. Allied agents against german commander and his troops. the allied must infiltrate a stronghold and the comments and looks on the game just really got my attention to it. It is my understanding there will be a reprint of the game as it is OOP? Anyone who knows anything about that is welcome to comment

Edit: It was just time for this one to go off the list. I have not really looked into it for a long time and done nothing to actively seek it out. That is a sign in itself.

This is a lighter game but one that would be great fun for a casual evening with some firends. Also suited for tournament or league play. I am a big soccer fan and this one is still the best soccer game out there for all I know.

Good for some fun and drinking with my non-gamer friends I will presume! And I like to have games for different occasions.

Edit: A general growing personal disinterest in Soccer (never thought that would happen) and the fact that my primary opponent would be my girlfriend who does not enjoy soccer at all kills this one

The latest of my pre-orders from GMT. The theme, the preview videos, the components and artwork all hooked me. GMT is just such a good company that I dont mind having money swimming out there to wait for their games

There are some really neat new concepts in this game that I can not wait to try out for myself.

Edit: Lets see the initial reviews on this one first..pre-order canceled because its not a financially sound decision for me right now

I read this list to learn how to trim my wishlist. Instead, I end up adding more games from your wishlist to mine (Manoeuvre & Hannibal). It's all your fault, Stephan! arrrh

Every once in a while, I go through and trim my wishlist. Mostly this involves taking a closer look at things which I've put on it. I also try to keep it reasonably well sorted, with only items that I really definitely want at the top and anything I haven't looked at closely down as "Thinking about it" or "Don't buy this", depending on how much I know. Anything marked "Don't buy this" is pretty much just marked as an item to look at some day, while "Thinking about it" is for games which I know enough about to be fairly sure I'd enjoy them, but not enough to be sure whether it's a good allocation of resources vs. a different game.

My trade list generally mirrors my wishlist. This is especially useful in math trades using the OLWLG since I can filter based on games I have marked as wish or want. Thus I can go take a more detailed look when it shows up, rather than having to decide when I first notice the game.
