The first step is always admitting you have a problem, so here I am laying my cards out on the table. I'm addicted to Board Game Podcasts.
You see, I used to listen to AM radio while at work. Sports talk was my personal favorite, and occasionally I'd stick in some CDs for variety. But now all I listen to all work day long is podcasts.
Allow me to share the progression of my addiction...

Board Games with Scott
It all started when I was shopping for some new games on Funagain. (This was in the jaded days before I became a BGG member.) I was looking at a new game called GiftTrap and I saw a link to a video from some bearded guy named Scott Nicholson.
It didn't take long before I knew how to play everything from Heroscape to Die Macher without ever picking up a box. This certainly added some new items to my wishlist, but that wasn't all this evil man did to me.

On Board Games
So then this crazy bearded guy posted a link to a new audio-only podcast that he was taking part in where I might get to hear him actually talk negatively about a game or two. Obviously, I was lured in by this bait.
Now my game wishlist was expanded even more, and I have a new show that I have to download every other week. I'm so addicted today that I have even put my own time into helping edit the guild homepage, what's wrong with me?!?

The Dice Tower
So, once again, I was searching through the Funagain website and I saw a link on the homepage that said the Dice Tower. I thought, "I need a good dice tower for rolling dice", and so I clicked on the link and found myself in the midst of a podcast with *gasp* over 85 episodes.
I belly-ached for a moment about the fact that the first 50 episodes had been archived, and then I started downloading episode 51. A few weeks later I caught up and found that my wishlist had grown dramatically. Then these fiendish devils started singing the praises of BGG and got me hooked on this website.
Also, not content with just giving me a fortnightly fix of their podcast, that monster Tom Vasel has begun releasing those archived first 50 episodes on their off weeks. And that's not all Tom Vasel did to me.

The Spiel
Tom Vasel started singing the praises of another board game podcast called the Spiel. Drawn to the prospect of another fix of this audio-drug, I went to the Spiel website.
Starting from episode 1, I quickly worked my way through until I had caught up on every last episode. With multiple segments that shouted the praises of countless games, I was hooked again. And I thought my wishlist couldn't grow any larger.

Little Wooden Cubist
Then Tom Vasel played a little trick on me. He started playing audio commercials for other new gaming podcasts. This led me to another biweekly fix.
Sure it's still a young podcast, and there wasn't a huge backlog of episodes to load up on, but it was more content for me to listen to.

Garrett's Games & Geekiness
Then my regular pusher, Tom Vasel, decided to have some "Board Game Podcaster Awards". Well, obviously, an addict like me had to know what games won each award. This led me to another podcast with nearly 80 episodes of content for me to devour.
Doug and his wife were all nice and funny, but that wasn't enough. At this point I needed more. The cravings were getting bad, and my wishlist was growing to the point of insanity.

The Metagamers
Another podcaster award was announced on this little gem. I quickly gobbled up their entire backlog of episodes, and was ready to move onto the next feast.
It was funny, but this show actually helped me realize just how out of control my wishlist was getting. I started separating some of the chaff, but I still desired more audio content.

Aldie's Interviews
Leave it to our fearless leader to start up a new podcast of interviews with different designers. As if I could resist the draw. Not only that, but he gets me interested in expansions to games that I don't even own. Now I have to get M44, just so I can try that expansion!

Have Games Will Travel
Thanks to some past comments from Doug Garrett and Tom Vasel I found myself drifting over to this podcast. I am currently satisfying my appetite with a daily helping of RPG and Game talk.
I've never been a role player, so why do I feel compelled to listen to every single episode? I literally can't stop myself.

Happy, Happy Board Game Love
This is one of the next podcasts I plan to take on. Thanks to my new dealer, Charley Eastman, over in the Little-Wooden-Cube-Tower for this recommendation.

Doug Garrett, that sneak, had an interview with Mark Johnson and so now I have another one to add to my must-listen list. If this keeps up I will be spending all my free time simply downloading...
