Please note - I have removed all old placeholders from this list. Please only use this list to record the receipt of games actually received from your Santa.

Only use placeholders to let your Santa know you received your package but are waiting to open it. When you actually open the package, please update the entry with the game(s) you received and express your reaction for your Santa. Please let me know if you experience any problems with this via GeekMail. Sorry for any confusion...now on to the list:

Since we just got our Secret Santa Targets assigned --

Last year's episode of "Look what my Secret Santa sent me..." was well received, so I am creating the same list again for 2007.

I originally posted this as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about letting me know who (s)he is. Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. If you plan on using this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction.

That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be divulged!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

(I am just using a generic Christmas first item as a placeholder for mine until my gift arrives, at which time I will update it with the real gift). In case you were wondering - yes, I do have a probably unfounded fondness for this holiday.

Now for the big question - do you open the gift or allow it to taunt you from under the tree until your local Christmas/Holiday gift opening?

Looks like I chose the right day to work from home! At about 12:30pm, I heard a very loud "thud!" from the porch, as if someone had just dumped off a dead body. I opened the door and saw a largish package from Thought Hammer! (w00t!) I popped open the box and there were two unwrapped gifts. Upon seeing the first one -- Mare Nostrum... well, I'm not exactly sure what I said, but I'm pretty sure the first word was "HOLY". However, that was not all that was in the box! There was also...

Battle Line

The card game I've been wanting for months! YEEEESSS!!!

Secret Santa, whoever you are... I want to hug you.

Merry Christmas!

Many thanks, Santa! My wife actually encouraged me to open the package from Funagain, so it would only be appropriate that a couple of 2-player games to play were included. One was Hive, which I actually played with one of my groomsmen on my wedding day...

...and the other is Mystery Rummy: Jekyll & Hyde. I've played Jack the Ripper, Rue Morgue, and Wyatt Earp. I'm looking forward to learning a new card game!

Thanks again, and Merry Christmas.

No, Girl Talk Secret Diary is not what my Secret Santa sent me (at least I don't think so), but it's about the same level of secretiveness. Like putting your name on the return address label on the shipping box. Do you not have neighbors you trust enough to use as decoys? devil

I'm just teasing, of course, and won't out you as an Unsecret Santa. I'm waiting for Hanukkah to open it, and I'm sure it will be great! Based on your Top 10, I have a feeling I know what it is and I'm psyched! I'll update this entry when I open it.

Now I could have this all wrong, and you actually picked a random BGG user's name and address to put on the return address. Now THAT would be cool.

A knock at the door -- a package arrives. Who's it from? Why it's from Thoughthammer, and I haven't placed any orders with them lately. It must be from Santa!

My heart racing, I employ out my children as my robotic arms and eyes to open the package and view its contents to confirm that it's a Santa gift, as I coyly wait in the other room, telling myself that I will wait to know the package contents until Xmas morning. That resolution lasts for around 15 seconds, and then I burst into the room to see what it is.

It's 1960: The Making of the President (and accompanying dice)! I am SO THRILLED!!! I have been dying to try this game out, and I have reason to hope that my mostly non-gaming husband will like it too. What a perfect gift!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Santa! I am so touched by your generosity and thoughtfulness! Merry Christmas!

I haven't been able to get this at my FLGS, and really thought I'd just never get a copy.

Wow.. wow, this is sooo cool!
When I received my present I weighted it 10 times and tried to figure out the measurements of the game - I had no idea what it was. Then later that day I phoned with a friend and I was so tempted to open it that my friend made me do it (blame him Santa ).

It's 1960: The Making of the President! Awesome!
I never expected this game to be the present. I am so lucky to have such a great Secret Santa. This gift along with the hilarious comments have made this christmas time a truley special one.

Oh btw: I was really surpised by the "value" of the game as well. And here's short story I want to tell: My friends taunted me because I really spend a fortune for my SS target and teased me that I will end up with a crappy game and blowed the money away for someone I don't know.
And here I am with one cool game that's not that easy to get in germany and on the other end of the planet another gamer gets an awesome game as well. I am so glad that I trusted in the community and didn't care at all on costs or on what I will get. In the end all turned out great!

Awesome... this is really great. Thousand thanks!
Oh and btw, I started watching 'allo 'allo

There was a package on my doorstep today. I thought maybe it was the Beowulf game I had recently ordered from Tanga, but the box seemed too big. Strange...

So, I cut it open and wow! A note saying, "Merry Christmas from your Secret Santa", and a big fat box of Shogun! It's gorgeous! I didn't even remember this being on my wishlist, but I love it. Having some friends over for gaming on the 15th and this will definitely be on the table. Thank you, Santa!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! laughlaughlaugh

When I arrived home from a shopping trip in which I picked up a copy of Notre Dame, it was raining but there was a soggy cardboard box laying inside the fence (I live on a ranch). When I saw it was from my SS, I was afraid the water may have damaged the contents, but I cracked it open to find Princes and the new power grid deck sent to me by my Swiss secret Santa. Thanks to whoever you are.

Hi Santa,

Your package arrived yesterday, and the Purolator elves left notice to pick it up. It would appear the reindeer negotiated US/Canada customs in record time. laugh I raced home from work today to pick it up.

Thank you very much!

Update 03/12/2007,
Well I couldn't wait after seeing so many people sharing on this geeklist (plus our monthly board game day is coming up). I was surprized and thrilled to find a War of the Ring (first edition), plus the expansion War of the Ring: Battles of the Third Age

And that's not all... my very generous Secret Santa also saw fit to include;

El Grande
& El Grande: Grandissimo. Can't wait to try these out ASAP.

Dear Santa,

Thank you very much for leaving me such super-duper gifts. They were gift-wrapped with cool Santa and snowman wrapping and everything. I was really surprised and happy to see that you are already delivering gifts. Gee, you must have a lot of goodies to deliver to all the boys and girls this year.

Not only did I get Cuba, but I see that your elves also packed:

I am sooooo lucky! So, from now on I promise that I will...
...make my bed in the morning,
...eat all my vegetables (ok, almost all), and
...always do my homework before bedtime.

Hopefully, you will notice how good I've been before Christmas, and leave me some more great stuff.

You are the best! Thank you again.

Love,
Ladislaus

P.S. I will leave some extra cookies and milk for you, Rudolph, and the other reindeer (Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen) on Christmas Eve.

P.P.S. I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas!

My package arrived a couple of days ago, and I brought it home yesterday... it was clearly my special game - the shipping box showed that it was from a game store...

I opened it up and found a nicely wrapped package inside. I didn't know what game it was at first, so I went through my wishlist to try and determine what it was that my Santa had purchased for me.

I really tried to wait ... ok .... maybe not REALLY tried, but it was so difficult. Then, when I got the present I remembered that I was giving away one of my games to a family through my company as a charity effort. (they got Carcassonne, incidentally.) So, it was then I thought - 'well heck, let's just open it because I'm doing something good for someone else -- maybe I should enjoy this gift for me, too' Thus, the Karma circle found equilibrium.

Lo and behold -- Twilight Struggle. The game that has all the geeks raving! Now it'll have me raving as well!

Santa -- thank you so so much for this. Although it's not my wife's cup of tea, I don't care! I just can't wait to break this out with my good gaming friend.

Have yourself an excellent holiday season, and may your Santa be as good to you as you have been to me.

I'd like to say that I had every intention of waiting until Christmas morning to open the package that was delivered this afternoon.
I'd like to say that it was entirely my wife's fault, wanting desperately to avoid buying me the same game for Christmas.
I'd like to say that I peeked, and then promptly resealed the package and placed it carefully under the tree until the specified date.

I'd like to say these things...

At any rate, I caved and spent the evening reading through the 20 page instruction manual!

Santa, whoever you are, I'm extremely grateful to you. Thank you so much!
If you ever find yourself stateside, look me up for a game or two! Merry Christmas to you and those close to you!

Oh could it be possible? A package on the doorstep? There wasn't a sound, not a knock or a jingle... Could it have been old Kris Kringle? Off with a bound, my package in hand... Oh drats! That's right, we have a show tonight !
Into the car, the family aflight, we're off to see "The 3 1/2 Stories of Christmas" at Church tonight. The lights go dim, a mist arises and out comes Frank Runyeon, an angel with tiny wings. Captivated we listen, we sing and we cheer. From Abraham to the three Wisemen, we all take delight for tonight we hear the story that was so long ago. To Mary and Joe, the King of Kings was born. And this, is truly, what the season is for.

I was finally able to open my present when we arrived back at home. The Fury of Dracula should be a great addition to game nights with the guys. Plus, the wife just said the theme and cooperative concept sounded like fun to her. Double Cha Ching, a game the wife might play!

Thanks to my Secret Santa, your timing was excellent!

I think that this is from my Secret Santa, as I didn't order it, but there were no references at all inside or outside the box to BGG, SS, or anything like that. Both boxes used in packaging were Korean, as well as the newspaper and flyers used as packing material. So, one of a few different things have occured:

1. My SS lives here in Korea. (which greatly narrows down who he/she might be)

2. My SS had my present sent to a friend who lives here in Korea, who then repackaged the game in Korean boxes. (which keeps me at square one in figuring out who my SS is)

3. Korean Customs Officers opened the original package went through it, tore it up in the process, and had to repackage it all. (which has absolutely nothing to do with finding out who my SS is, but is still a viable possibility)

Beyond all that, though, THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!!! Thanks for a great game...one that I love to play, and wish it made the table more often. Maybe now it will...ninja Plus, it's the "black gun" edition!!! Sweet!! I wanted to get this game, but I didn't want to have to get those creepy orange foam guns...too cool!

Update: I guess it's good that my Secret Santa apparently doesn't know that I can read Korean. The package came from Daejon, South Korea, and only two users are listed as being in Dae-jon-si, but I think only one of them lives at Joong-Gu, Tae-Pyeong-Dong, Dong-Yang APT 203dong-1702ho...devil

I guess I've been a good little BGG'er, because it's been a good month! My girlfriend and I haven't been gaming much because we've been pretty busy doing the job search. Luckily, both my girlfriend and I got really great job offers at the same place! And today I picked up my Secret Santa gift at the post office today!

Sorry, I couldn't wait to open it, I'm so weak...I guess my excuse is that we are going to be away in Hong Kong for Christmas, so I figured I should open it now. Okay, so that's a bad excuse... blush

Anyway, my Secret Santa went all the way, including a very nice Christmas card as well:

"Something from your Wish List
Something from your Want List
Something that's just plain fun
Happy Holidays from your BGG Secret Santa"

In addition, there were a lot of boxes!

1) Betrayal at House on the Hill This game just looks like fun, can't wait to turn down the lights, play some creepy music, and get a group together. And it's out of print now, so this is a great gift!

But that's not all...

2) HeroCard Rise of the Shogun We've been looking for an Asian-themed game, and this one looks quite cool, an interesting mishmash of mechanics.

But Santa didn't stop here. No, he also included...

2a) ...the other two expansion decks!
and

But even that's not all!

3) Mag·Blast (Third Edition) We had not heard of this game before, but it looks like a really cool sci-fi card game! The artwork alone brings a smile to my face. This sounds like the perfect game to bring on the flight to Hong Kong!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Secret Santa for going out of your way for all of the thoughtful gifts!!! laugh laugh laugh

I'm lame and using a similar place holder as someone else. Well not a place holder in expecting but place holder in unopened gifts.

I got 3 wrapped packages from one of the 2 SS I am in here. To the santa who sent it: "They have arrived, and I will try to resist opening them for as Long as I can :-)"

Edit: Much like everyone else, I (Girlfriend and I) could not wait to open, but we figured that since it is the last night of Hanukkah it might be ok.

Thank you secret Santa so much!!
I got 3 games I've wondered about for awhile.
Balloon Cup
Battle Line
Frank's Zoo

We are always up for trying good 2 player games. I look forward to trying these out very soon.

Thank you so very much!
