One of the odd things about being from a small, out of the way country is how often you get left off world maps. You often see maps on TV, movies, etc, which leave out New Zealand. And of course, some games leave us out as well!

Feel free to add game maps where your particular neck of the woods is left out. Boy, I sure hope other countries get missed as well. I'd hate to think we were the only place. Surely there are games out there without Luxemburg on their maps?

This game's a swizz.

I've played it hundred's of times and never found Carcassonne on the map, nor anything that looks even remotely like South-West France.

And New Zealand isn't shown either.

Well, you'll just have to 'take' MY "word" on it, but it does appear on HERE:

It is the 2nd "City" to the LEFT, from along the bottom RIGHT corner there.

New Zealand is't in France so that's why you won't find it on a map of France... (didn't even have to look that up)

hmm, just dawned on me, you ment the gamemap didn't you?

O Roisin Dubh!

Ireland isn't even labeled, and it's just a faceless part of the British Empire. Oh sure, every little country on the mainland can revolt against Nappy, but those softie Irish would never dream of resisting English imperialism! Come on Renaud, you know an Irish Rebellion card would be sweet in this game! Ever hear of the 1798 Rebellion? The Croppy boys at Wexford, etc.?

God Save Ireland, said the heroes!

He was not yet the sole power, but he was most definitely in a position of power. Regardless of whether or not the "Age of Napoleon" had officially begun, the possibility of another Irish uprising was always something that the British had to consider throughout the Napoleonic wars. It's reasonable that someone playing the British in a game about the period should have to think about it too.

I guess I shouldn't complain as the Netherlands at least are on it, but they got it totaly wrong.
I can only assume they've picked up a modern roadmap and copied the country from that.

Honestly now, the big dyke in the Age of Napoleon?
They didn't start building that till 1927 and as for filling up the sea behind it, that was completed long after that.

It is something that will keep bugging me, allthough I still may enjoy the game.
Still trying to learn it at this point in time.

Makes me feel like it was intentionally cut off the game board.
At least the spanish cannot invade Portugal.
It's silly, but i never wanted to try this game because of that, even being said it is "the" area control game.

AFAIK, there is only 1 game map upon which we appear - Blackbeard (1992 edition - in hexes J21 & I22). And now, the decision has been taken to DELETE US from the 2008 edition map. Oh, the injustice!

I don't mean to insult Cayman Islands, but it isn't really a country. It's something that got left over when the West Indian Federation failed in 1962. It's one of the little remaining bits of the British Empire. I'm sure that when her Britannic majesty is addressed by her full title, about 17 minutes in it includes "Queen of the Caymanians", but otherwise you would hardly notice it.

But it is a real bummer to be eliminated from the new edition. Perhaps you could add it to this list.

Sorry to be outspoken, just cant let such a level of ignorance go unanswered.

Peter, the British empire "failing" did not lead to America. The American colonies successfully rebelling and winning an 8 year war lead to America. Look at the Cayman flag and note the BRITISH flag on it as it is on the NEW ZEALAND. The Caymans are actually BRITISH territories, not even countries. You have a beautiful country but it is more the remnant you speak of. Its my suggestion you buy some American Revolutionary war games and actually learn some history.

How can you have an invasion of the U.S. and not include Alaska? Oh, I guess Hawaii is missing too.

I spent a few years in Alaska and developed a little peeve about its exclusion from U.S. maps, or the insultingly small Alaskan map often inset off the western coast of Mexico. Sure, if Alaska and Hawaii were correctly placed on U.S. maps there would be a lot of empty Pacific ocean but it is the principle of the matter.

Not missing completely, but in many games the northern parts of Sweden/Norway/Finland/Russia are missing. This is especially esthetically annoying in wargames that are supposed to include the complete European theater. When it comes to WWII, the northern parts were an active front of the war.

I thought New Zealand was a part of Australia? No wait, I seem to remember having to outcheat something about New Zealand in an America's Cup race.

Sorry (I really tried to stop myself), just kidding. I have met a least a dozen Kiwi transplants here in California, and I have liked them all. I have great fondness for my Pacific Ocean neighbors. Would love to be there right now for the summer!

Recently, we had a wee accident where a friend spilled red wine over the entire discard pile of our Cash'n'guns game. I emailed Asmodee to ask if we were able to buy new cards. The very nice man said he would send us some and asked for my address. When I gave it, he pointed out that as we were in Europe, we would be better to contact a European agent... I had to inform him that in fact, New Zealand was a wee way away from Europe.

The cards arrived the next week.

Actually, other way around. We have the North Island, South Island and the much larger West Island. We don't talk about them much - sort of like those cousins you have to invite to your wedding, but make sure they're at the back table.

I don't think we've seen a better summer - certainly not in 10 years! It's packed full of cloudless days, and of course I'm working right through it National holiday today, though so I took my boys to the zoo. Very nice.

Just don't ask us to play cricket fairly. We are so underhanded.
