I probably spend about $700 a year, but then again I sell here and on e-bay and that brings in about $300, so my total spending is about $400 which is, I think but my wife might disagree, very reasonable.
I bought Friederich a few months ago, and really liked it. I thought Napoleon's Triumph ($64 including tax, since I tend to buy from FLGS) would be a good step up and it would give me the chance to play with 2 players. We did try the 2-player Friedrich but we thought it was okay, but not great.

This year I really started tracking what I bought/traded and what it cost me. So far it's been a cheap year; more trading, less buying.
Cost: € 66,45 Bought: 3 games Trade: 12 games Made: 1 game

Yes, this really is what I looked like when I uploaded that avatar. Not that it's quite current anymore.

Just bought the second edition ($50 or so), and spent another $25 on meeples and paint to give 3d bits.
I spend about $400/year on board games.

That is a tough one in reality. I buy so much HS stuff it is scary, I am guessing at least $1,000/year. Now I am starting to buy games and to get them here in the jungle can get expensive. I spent around $110 by the time I got LNOE here. I won 2 games this last month, and will find out today what Customs charged on them? I am buying around $300 in games next week ( a friend coming to visit ).
I am guessing around $2,000 a year starting this year? I am heading to GenCon for the second time in 25 years so I plan on buying a whole lot of stuff.
Never enough is what I say, since I always want more.
I am sure I pay more then that to play games and to travel to play games. In Oct. I head to Ohio to hold my 3rd National Heroscape Day Tournament and that is $ I put out to get it all ready and host it ( last year we where tight on $ waiting for some land to sell, so the wife was not happy, now that we have $ again she thinks it is great that I host the tourney? ).
Of course we don't have kids yet, so it is easier for me to spend $ on my toys.

Games with dragons, spaceships, and bears aren’t wargames. Call them conquest games or strategy games or crap but they aren’t wargames.

Not nearly as much as I was expecting: Wife wanted a double oven so I bought one for her. It was barely set in place before I found out the step daughter needed help for another semester in college (wasn’t expecting that one). We barely had the credit card back in the wife’s purse when the refrigerator went out and couldn’t be repaired. I had just rec’d the first credit card bill for the double oven when my 5.1 stereo receiver died on me. All within a two month period may be I exaggerated a little above. Its been a heck of a year so far. And no I’m not bankrupt.
Maybe $500 in a normal year.

This is my first year as a boardgamer and as such, I have started from nothing. Still, it's been a good exercise to look back and see what I have bought!
I reckon that I will have spent £900 ($1,800 US) in my first 12 months, including stuff I have on pre-order at the moment or will be picking up in June. Add another £100 or so for christmas / birthday gifts I've received.
I'd spend more than £900 a year on cigarettes if I was a smoker, so I'm happy for boardgames to be my "vice" instead. How's that for justifying myself?
Can't see me spending that much in the next year though. I'll watch for that prediction to come back and bite me in the arse in 12 months time...

I finally broke down and got this one with it's expansion this week. I average a new game every other week which would be about $950.00 for the year. Then adding in the occasional ebay buy and trade on the geek (these don't count as new; just new to me lol) which averages up to about $1,300.00 for the year. Very scary. But I do feel better since I know several serious Warhammer/Warmachine/Flames of War players who often drop my yearly total in just a month or two in their hobby.
There are indeed more expensive hobbies out there; such as I know I have dumped more money into golfing and fishing than my gaming habit. Even with something as inexpensive as disc golf I have spent a couple of hundred dollars on not just with disks for me but a large quantity of "extra discs" (or as they are known as discs that I didn't like how they flew) just so I can drag some newbies along to have someone to play with. I guess as long as you use the stuff and get enjoyment out of it makes it ok right?

I probably spend $1000 per year. Lately, I've been back on a miniatures kick. I'm painting 10mm Samurai figures for Chrysanthemum Throne, and some 2mm ACW for Volley and Bayonet.
I doubt I'll paint figures for Field of Glory. The armies seem to need quite a few stands. However, it seems like it might be the new hot ancients rules, so I thought I would give them a look.

Just bought a copy of Dune off of Ebay for $100. I could have got a copy cheaper if I would have waited around for a better deal (could have paid $15 less for the Sting cover *bleh*) but the wife gave it the green light due to getting our tax returns.
I spend around $1500 a year on games. I probably used to spend more but I quit buying miniatures (a huge money pit).

I actually did not buy this. I traded this to another game (Dust) which is my last game bought normally.
My wife and I have about 30+ boardgames right now. I spend may be 280-300eur (about $450)/year nowadays to improve my collection.

Last boardgame purchased is this one on pre-order.
I've bought a few mini-wargames since then, but just (comparatively) inexpensive games.
I think I've spent about $110 this year.
On second thought, my game spending is pretty unbudgeted, so I cannot say what the yearly amount averages out to. I usually make between 0 and 2 major game purchases, 5 - 15 minor game purchases, and a bunch of game accessory purchases (miniatures, brushes, printer ink, paper, cardstock, and shipping for trades).

I probably spend around $200-$300 a year. BGG has enabled me to get the most out of my gaming $'s. I remember a few Ebay disasters before I found BGG, thanks BGG.
