The name says it all: I'd like to list every game which uses square cards.

(by the way, I've searched around but could not find a similar list. Weird...)

I'm actually talking about cards, not cardbox tiles (altough I also mean square cards used as tiles).

A bilingual game. An English phrase is translated literally into French, and from that phrase, and clues to its categories, the players try to guess what the original phrase is.

The simple difference between cards and tiles (for me at least):

Cards can be riffle shuffled to randomize the order.

Tiles can be tossed into a bag, shaken, stirred, and drawn from the bag one at a time to randomize them.

Your "card" definition seems to be related to what I suggested before...

It would seem that when a "card"'s thickness becomes so great that it is no longer easily bendable, folks refrain from calling this a card when possible (like with the Carcassonne "tiles").

What's your opinion on cards that are also tiles? Your definiton doesn't leave room for such things - you make it sound like something is either a card or a tile and cannot be both at once.

(Personally I think that "card" and "tile" are separate ideas, and something could be [1] one or [2] the other, or [3] both at once, or [4] neither! Examples: [1] Uno cards, [2] Scrabble tiles, [3] the square cards/tiles in the Atta Ants picture (No. 12 above), and [4] the cardiovascular system of a kitten)

Basically, yeah, it's a question of thickness and "bendability". Someone asked "at what thickness does a card become a tile", this was my answer to that question (as well as a few others). I tried to state the difference as simply as possible.

I don't understand what you mean by "cards that are also tiles". In my mind it's either/or. I don't care how the component is used. Could you play a CCG with tiles? Sure. It would be #$%*&$ing annoying though. [edit: come to think of it, I remember an attempt at a collectible tile game. They were about the size of pogs and were drawn from a bag.] Could you play Carc with cards? Sure. Again, it would be #$%*&$ing annoying when they slide over/under each other. The tiles require too many adjustments as it is sometimes.

Basically, I consider the parts in a vacuum assuming no knowledge of the game they come from. Consider dominoes (which have their own category). Sometimes they are played like cards, sometimes tiles, sometimes they're stacked upright in a row just to be tipped over. In fact, some people who shun cards and card games (usually for religious reasons) will still play domino games, even if the domino is effectively used as a card.
