Erik Warnes (unixrevolution) had initiated the BGG chain of generosity which has been going strong since then. Unfortunately, global mail prices can be quite high, probably making the list a little uninteresting for non-Americans (though a few do regulary participate in the chain). With this GeekList I'll try to play my part to make a similar chain avaiblable to all Europeans (thanks, Jack (anglotiger), for the suggestion of a seperate GL!). Over the years more generous Geeks started different chains and we currently have the following running all across Europe:

Original Chain of Generosity and Pay It Forward Chain (Board Games / more largish game offers)
Woolly Shrubbery Chain and The JAGGY Chain (Board or card games)
Shane Chain and The Shane Chain - part deux (Board or card games)
Original Card Game Chain and Second Card Game Chain (Card games only)
Game parts, Miniatures and Small Expansions Chain (as it says-should fit into a stuffed envelope or small box)
The Delicacies Chain (local sweet or salty treats plus something gaming related - needs to alternate between countries)
The ALEGRIA Chain (only for kids, youngsters and party games - no problem if the adults like them, too)
The JOGO EU Chain (board games, card games and anything gaming related) (JogoEu blog)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rules (shamelessy but with thanks copied from the global chain):

RULES:

1. You must comment to the item in question indicating you wish to be in the drawing to recieve it in order to be eligible to win.
2. If you win one, you MUST post a game of your own to give away in this fashion. If you don't like that idea, don't play. Please do not wait until you receive your win before offering a game of your own - its all about generosity.
3. Set a deadline of around 5 to 10 days.
4. In the event that no offers are made on your game within the deadline, try a different game in its place and set a new deadline.
5. If you wish to start a new chain, post an item to the geeklist and put "SEED" in bold in the description. For those later in the chain, identify which chain your game belongs to.
6. Sender pays shipping, unless he indicates in his entry that the recipient will and under what grounds (International shipping, etc). Anyone signing up to receive an item where recipient pays shipping agree to do so.

AND NOW HAVE FUN SPREADING GENEROSITY AROUND EUROPE!

Replanted the seed from the original GL:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/24780/item/718961#item...

SEED: PAN-EURO-CHAIN
Spreading Generosity around Europe

As we are in the "old" country, I start off the chain with three older games:

i) Das Labyrinth der Meister (Master Labyrinth)

ii) Entengrütze

iii) Mississippi

All three games are in good condition for their age. The boxes show shelfware due to the age but all game components and the boards are in very good condition. All games are language indipendent but only come with german rules.

To give my fellow Europeans some time to catch this, I'll leave the item up till August 24th and will then let the dice determine the lucky recipient. Maybe we can start some European generosity here.

Greetings

Ok, we have been off to a slow start with noone really interested in the seed. Seems, we need more generosity here. In order to do so, I replace the three games with an unplayed copy of GRAENALAND. It comes with German and English rules and language independent playing tiles.

I'll leave this item up in the chain until Wednesday, August 27th, in the evening hours. C'mon girls and guys!

Ok - here we go and give the good ol d6 a roll:

1 - Vryolakas
2 - Grimwold
3 - Doscho
4 - Ceryon
5 - MikeBwithoutadot
6 - Ahiksking

And the lucky recipient is.....

I had a few to choose from, but I thought I would try one slightly off everyone's radar. You don't see Road Kill appearing on the Geek too often
This is an original Avalon Hill game and darn good fun it is - think Demolition Derby, but with nice cards and graphics.
This copy has been played once and is still part unpunched. I bought it after playing it at the WBC back in about 1996. I enjoyed it, but the guys at conventions back in the U.K. seem reluctant to give a slug-fest like this a chance.
I will close this sometime on Thursday and if no takers will replace with something else. But hey - this is fun!

Rather disappointing take up. I had better choose a more well known game next time around. However, it makes the odds better for the 2 guys who were interested.
A simple heads or tails (witnessed by my wife) between HRune and Clanger.
HRune = Head
Clanger = Tails

And it comes down ..................................... Tails.

Clanger - you have a game that you seem to be interested in which is great news. I'll do a trade proposal to get your mailing details.
Good luck with the next posting.

Due to a convoluted sequence of events I managed to end up with two copies of this. This one is unplayed.
The box and components are mold free (for those who don't know many copies of this came a free fungus expansion!) when i got this copy it did smell very dank yuk but i immediately set all the bits out to air and it is now almost fragrant.

The Box has a bit of a ding on one of the corners, which in turn has damaged the board slightly, Nothing major. All the other components are in as new condition

Will run this until 8pm GMT Sun 14/9

Good Luck

Five in but only one can win, my trusty d5 will decide

1.HRune
2.Periplaneta
3.Me 262 Schwalbe

Allright, next up in the chain is a game which I haven't played yet. It's brandnew, and still in shrink. It's my extra copy (my other copy is already punched and is waiting to be played)

It's the german version, but there's no language in the game other than in the rules, and the rules are right here on the geek, including handy player aids.

I believe some people regard Zooloretto as "family" and "light", but this one has won so many awards (and looks damn good) that I figured it should be good for some fun anyway. I've played a couple other of Michael Schachts games which I like quite a lot, and they're usually good for both gamers and newbies ("Kardinal & Konig" aka Web of Power is my favorite so far).

I'll leave this one up till midnight this thursday, 18 sept. (actually, 1.00 a.m. Friday is the real deadline)

If everybody thinks this one is too cliche or not cool enoough: just say so (or don't react at all), my alternative is something just a little more down in the top 200: a brandnew (also in shrink) copy of Downfall of Pompeji (which is sort of light also, but tons of fun with most players, and a more internation choice than my Dutch copy of Pillars of the Earth).

EDIT:
Ok, time to draw a winner:
1. Viking Fury
2. Periplaneta
3. Vryolakas
4. Ben Tyrer
5. Hrune
6. TabbySunLion
7. Faerun
8. Ceryon

Since I don't have a D8, I thought I'd be nice to use number cards from my copy of El Grande. I took the numbers 1 till 8 from the red deck, shuffled them (blindly of course) and drew the top card. Which was 2.

So congrats Periplaneta! Just let me know if you prefer Zooloretto or Pompeji, and the game will be on it's way.

Long live the chain!

Hi everybody, on my turn I would like to offer a nearly unplayed copy of

"The Princes of Florence" by Alea.

The only problem is that I haven't found an complete translation in the net so far. Although there is a short tutorial available here on BGG.

AND I want to add an unpunched copy of the Hans in Glück-Almanach cards for Carcassonne and Stone Age to the offer to pitch it a little more to you.

I will wait for the drawing till sunday 10 pm german time (right after the Tatort).

Good luck to everybody

Edit: So, now it is time (10 pm german lokal time) for the drawing:

We have six participants this time

Okay, my turn .

I am offering my copy of Domaine. The rules are in English but the components and board are 100% language free. The box is a little scuffed around some of the corners.

I'll leave this up until 9:00 PM BST Monday evening.

Tuesday morning update:

I've just realised my copy of Domaine is more damaged than I described, and therefore am proposing to also add my copy of Gang of Four.

I've mailed H Rune, Little Dragon and Fearun to get their approval. Edit: also mailed Kris.

Tuesday midday: Heard from H Rune and Kris, both still in.

Wed Morning: Everyone is still in so it's time to decide. I have my trusty d12

1-3 Kris
4-6 H Rune
7-9 Little Dragon
10-12 Fearun

And the dice says 6 : H Rune is the winner

Hey - the chain came back to me. Let's see, what I can offer as a new item.

Looking at the numbers of wants, the Pillars of the Earth seem like a good offer. So - new item in the chain is a German copy of Pillars of the Earth - meaning German cards and German rules. But the Geek offers rules translations into several languages and card paste ups.

Small extra: the special cards published in the Spielbox The Pillars of the Earth: New Craftsmen

The lucky recipient will be drawn on Sunday evening right before Navy CIS - meaning 20:00 cool

Edit 2nd Oct: I like the idea of offering a choice. So, if you are drawn, you can choose between the above mentioned Pillars or the set consisting of the following two games:

Bali and Tyros

Don't ask me about the language-options of the games as I am at work and cannot check the games. I'll comment on that later on.

Edit Oct. 5th:
Ok, Gibbs, Tony, Siva, Abby, McGee and Ducky are waiting, so lets get to the draw. We have the following contestants, all going for PotE:

1-Grimwold
2-Doscho
3-Faerun
4-Me_262_Schwalbe
5-teufen
6-freduk
7-Periplaneta

The metal figures are not needed for the game, there are stand ups that are used for characters in the game anyway. Everything else is in mint condition, even the dice are in their original sealed bag.

PLUS

I'll throw in Express with the above choice: -

The game is like new and has been played once.

OR

If the above games don't take your fancy how about my second option: -

If anyone is interested in the first combo or the second game please post by Sunday night, UK time.

So withouth further ado, I am giving away once played copy of Mont Saint Michel. The game itself has rare (from what I know) mechanic where you basicaly start without knowing which color (figure) you are. Only during the game you may "find yourself" either with playing special card or by deduction.

The game itself is language independent and the rules are written in multiple languages, including English, French, Italian and German.

I will wait until Monday the 3rd of November when I will draw the winner at around midnight.

Best,

London, 1901. At the world famous Portobello Market, the goal in the morning is to secure the best places to build stalls. Try to place your stalls in the most lucrative manner, cut off your opponents, and grab the most profitable alleys for yourself. You can build only where the Bobby stands—but a little cash will make the Bobby stand where you want him to!

The game is new. It is language independent, the rules are in German but you can find English rules here on bgg.

I will wait until Friday and anounce the winner (or another game) in Saturday morning.

Best,
Matej

SEED: CARD GAME ONLY CHAIN

I offer the following options

1) Saga, Dutch edition (game is language independent, I will make sure English and German rules are available);

OR

2) Spy, Dutch edition (game is language independent, I will make sure English and German rules are available.

As a "bonus" I throw in Online The Internet Card Game. Cause otherwise I'll never get rid of it. (Rules are in Dutch, French, German and English.)

This offer is open untill Friday 14th November, 13:00 (CET+1).

---------------------
Update:

Two geeks are in for Saga (and Online, the game I'll be sending the winner anyway):

1) OutpostGamma
2) Enui

To decide who will recieve the games I used the list randomizer at www.Random.org. I decided that the geek at the top of the - rather short - randomized list will get the games.

Here's the result (copy-pasted from the internet page, bold added):

There were 2 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

1. Oupostgamma
2. Enui

Timestamp: 2008-11-14 13:34:41 UTC

So congratulations OutpostGamma, you will recieve my copies of Saga and Online!

My copy of Edel, Stein und Reich is practically new. I played two games with it.
The rules are in German, and some cards are in German as well, but you can find English translations here on BGG.

IT HAS SHINY GEMS!

I'll wait for Friday at noon and will choose a winner shortly after.

---- edit: I checked my copy again at noon, and it seems I have printed the Dutch rules. I will also include the English rules if you want!

Ok, here comes a Michael Schacht special:

Industria

This is the official French version (with the French box, rules in German and French and a translation sheet for the German board text with translation in French, English, Spanish, Italian and Dutch). Also, the game itself is pretty much language independent and various rule translations are here on BGG.

AND

Architekton

This is the German version, but the game itself is language independent and the English rules are available here on BGG.

Both games are punched but never played, thus they are in very good condition.

I will announce the winner (or a new game ) on Tuesday at noon. Good luck...

My offer is a Truant Special:

Ben Hurt

It is the german version and is untouched. Cards are still in shrinkwrap!

The second game is:

The Great Brain Robbery

This too is the german version and was never played. So these two great games in excellent condition are searching for a new owner.

I will announce the winner (or a new game) on Saturday. Good luck...
