For those of you new to this list, I originally posted this list back in 2006 as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about divulging their identity. The list has gone well in the last two years and I am curious how large it will grow this year since there are around 1000+ participants this year (529 items in 2006, 874 items in 2007). This is a pretty good place to view the gifting as it progresses through the holiday season, so enjoy!

Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous two years of Secret Santa-ing have gone on those year's versions of this list, look at these links:

I got this "must have" from my wish list a couple weeks ago (a very prompt BGGSanta!) and put a little note in my profile, but didn't think to add a note in this list until now.

Thank you, BGGSanta, I'm trying not to open this until Christmas (I've made it this far...) and I'm really looking forward to playing it. I love aviation-themed games as well as those sharing a sort of Yahtzee-aspect of shopping with dice combos.

I'm very happy!

I came home from work today to find a package from Best Dang Games! I couldn't wait and opened the two gift wrapped packages inside! First I found Frontiers. This is a game I have been thinking about getting for more than a year! The next game inside is Dominion! I cannot wait to get this to the table.

Every year I am SHOCKED by the generosity of the BGG members!
With the world economy in the state that it is in makes this even more remarkable.

Thank you Secret Santa, 1 gift would have been more than enough but two is absolutely awesome! I wish you and your family a very happy holiday!

My Secret Santa gift arrived today - a package with a number of nicely wrapped gifts, which are waiting under the tree for me to open Christmas Eve (or Day, not entirely sure when it'll happen, just not now).

The reason I picked THIS offbeat game is, my SS is a bit offbeat (in a good way) - he started things off by sending me a printout of a spider, and saying that would be my SS gift. I was a bit worried at that point, I must say! If you want to see what he sent me, it includes a bit of backstory as well, check out:

http://www.27bslash6.com/overdue.html

Shortly thereafter, however, I got a geekmail from the Secret Santa account saying a game was on the way - and asking that I return his spider. And a couple of more geekmails along the way, all pushing the spider theme.

The package arrived, and it has what I presume to be a pseudonym and address, and yet another request for me to return his spider.

Secret Santa - thanks for the chuckle (and a bit of worry), thanks for the presents, and I'll be sure to return your spider shortly!

I picked up my package at the post office today. Like some others around here, I deciced that if the box inside was wrapped, I would not open it until Christmas. Opened the box, package is wrapped. But the order is inside as well and I clearly see that it's La Citta. I'm very happy, thank you Santa.

But now that I know what's inside, can I open it? ninja

I got my package yesterday. Nicely wrapped and I will wait for Christmas. (Day or Eve, I am not sure.)

It also came with a cool bag of South Dakota popping corn that I will try to take and upload. At first I wondered why wanted to pay more for shipping by adding a sandbag.

It is kind of neat since my grandmother lives in Menno, SD and I don't get to see her much.

I will update this when I open the gift!

========

UPDATE: The sandbag analogy turned out to be very apt and appropriate, given that this is Memoir '44: Mediterranean Theater a Memoir 44 expansion!

Thanks Secret Santa!

After three torturous weeks of my Secret Santa taunting me with emails, my gift arrived. I was ecstatic when i opened the box to reveal Galaxy Trucker!!! It's one of the games i've contemplated purchasing over the past few months, but for one reason or another never actually did. Well now i have it!! Thank you Secret Santa. In addition to this game i received a neat looking game named Criminals. My gaming group meets Thursday evenings, so hopefully one of these two games can make their way to the table this week.

Thank you so much SS!

PS.....i think i may know who you are.

I initially got two items off my wishlist (Winner's Circle and Battleline, already added), but then my Secret Santa sent two more that weren't on my wishlist: Programmer's Nightmare and The Dungeon of D. Additionally, I got a taunt!

I know/guess my SS is in Madrid, Spain, but I can't think of a way to figure out who it is.

In case my SS is reading, I really, really appreciate these games. They must have noticed that I'm a programmer from my interests/profile, AND that most of my playing is solo (non-gamer wife & limited time).

So if you're reading -- thank you very much! I have a programmer friend I told about the game today and he says he can't wait to try it (I said, "There's program cards, a program counter, bit chips ...", he says "I CAN'T WAIT!!").

Thanks again!

Wow, Secret Sockpuppet Santa! You've been very good to me this year! After all the taunts and teases, a box finally arrived, from the good people at Funagain Games. (with the shipper's info thoughtfully removed)
As you can see from reading my profile, I really like card games. I had played Set at a friend's house, and fell in love with it.

Plus, you also got me

Which I had tried online, and really enjoyed.

And now you tell me that's not all!

What a wonderful Christmas! Thank you, thank you, thank you! kiss

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

Woke up to the postman banging on my door around 7:30am. (My... I guess they have to work overtime not only because of the volume of mail but also of their strike this week) Got a parcel from GreenKnightGames, which means it is a Santa gift because I didn't order anything from them. Well, it's a lovely thing to wake up to! Did not tear open the giftwrap-- I really want to because I checked the invoice which indicated that the content is GHOST STORIES-- a game that I really wanted to get my hands on for a while. Thank you so much my SS!! Now, how do I resist cracking open the giftwrap and shrink before Christmas?

A package arrived this morning. I was working at home, so, no problem. Inside the box there were to nice gift-wrapped games. For half an hour I toyed with the idea of keeping them till Christmas. But I wanted to play them like right now, so I ended up tearing the nice paper. I was richly rewarded: I found two of the games I most wanted from my wishlist. Confucius and Dominion. Great.

Thanks Secret Santa. Perfect gifts. Thanks for you generosity.

Apparently, I have been a very good boy this year. My Secret Santa was extraordinarily generous. A large box was delivered to my house, which had "BGG Secret Santa" printed across it. I shamelessly tore off the packing tape and ripped the box open and found inside "DVONN"....which wasn't on my wishlist. I remember looking at the game and thinking all of the following simultaneously:
(1) There must be some kind of mix-up
(2) I should be grateful for what I have
(3) Well, I think this is supposed to be good game
(4) I gotta rethink this Secret Santa thing

But then I remembered the box was too heavy for a game this size, so I picked up Dvonn and behold another present was below it, wrapped in silver and white Christmas paper. Then a wave a guilt hit me as I started opening my present, this came out of nowhere and caught me by surprise. I put the gift down for a minute and debated whether or not I should wait for Christmas. Since you're reading this entry, guess which side won. I peeled back the paper and voila! Decent: Tome of Ice.

I couldn't have been more thrilled. I had been eying this expansion for quite a while but couldn't get myself to buy it. My friends and I get together from time to time to hash out some adventures. I'm the DM and they have beaten me only once. Receiving this game was a reminder of how much fun I've had, and good times will be coming again. It has been truly horrible year for me, my wife and I are getting a divorce and the ensuing custody battle has been devastating. During those times, it's hard to remember that people can be good and generous. Thank you Toadsoup for throwing a life line.

I got my Secret Santa package last week. When i picked it up from the post office in the morning, i was still pretty sure that i was going to open it at Christmas. But as i work in a gamestore, i was thinking about all day, and the fact that we had a gamenight the same evening, didnt hel either. I finally found a logical explanation, why i shouldn't wait for a moment more, but open it right then. I was sure there was a wonderful game waiting for me in that box, and if i opened it at christmas, i wouldn't have anyone to play with. But there was a room full of people gaming around me, so i tore it open to see what i could share with them.

First i leaped in joy, when i saw 1870 in the box and rushed to the gaming group i had been playing other 18xx games with and showed them the game. Quickly we organized a session just after christmas, as 1870 is one of the games that just takes all day. (our last 1856 game lasted 13 hours).

After reading a letter from my Secret Santa, i noticed there was another game in the box: Lunch Money. Got to try this out at the next boardgamecamp.

Thank you Secret Santa, you have made one guy really happy and helped with my evil plans to introduce 18xx games to others.

Somewhere in my youth or childhood... ummm, not just somewhere, but throughout... . So, yes! My secret santa sent me Agricola... but that's just the start..

I got a personalized stocking

and what would a personalized stocking be without personalized stuffers in it?

Knowing what an OCD-driven bagging freak I am, my secret santa sent me packs of baggies to sort the myriad game parts. Next emerged the animeeples and veggiemeeples, at which point I was pretty sure what was in the big red rectangular box .

And once I knew what it was, there was hardly any point in waiting to open it, Seeing how all-knowing my santa is, I hope she doesn't find out that I've already opened the gift before Christmas... I'm sorry, but I promise i'll be good throughout the next year!

I received my Secret Santa package a while back but unfortunately have not had the time to sit down and thank my "Secret Semite" for his/her enormous generosity. I have already opened the package for a few reasons.

1. My wife and I always travel to Colorado for "Thanksmas". This is a great time for gaming with the family and I figured it would be a good time to break in some new games.
2. My birthday is on the 5th of December so I rationalized it was a secret santa / secret birthday gift.
3. I have impulse control issues.

Ca$h n' Gun$ is definitely the jewel of the box. We love playing this game when we host game nights at our house. I look forward to breaking it out at our next event.

Apart from Ca$h n' Gun$, I also received in the box:

Both this expansions are welcome editions to my gaming library. Thank you so much to my Secret Santa. You really brightened the holiday season.

As a P.S. I also received the Lil Cthulu a day calendar from 2006. Not exactly a useful calendar but fun nonetheless. Thanks again "Secret Semite". I hope your holiday is filled with gaming awesomeness.

For the last two Secret Santas, my targets were overseas. This kind of messed with the whole "Secret" part of Secret Santa, because in order to ship a big ol' package of games overseas, you have to put a real name and address on the paperwork that goes with the box. So I've been outed the last couple of years, though I don't recall that either target made it public. This year, my Secret Santa was in Canada, and I noticed that his name and address were also on the box.

Now, for me, the most fun of Secret Santa is the secret part, since you can know (hopefully) that you're doing something fun and special for someone else, but do so anonymously. So when I saw the name on there, I just glanced away. I recall that this person is from Quebec, but luckily my short-term memory is such that I can't recall anything else about the sender. And I've already chucked the box and all mailing evidence so as not to tempt myself into looking at the information.

Now, of course, the game was wrapped up, but did that stop me? HECK NO! I dove right in to see what was inside. It turned out that the last game I needed to complete my Combat Commander collection was inside! Once I receive the expansion and Pacific (already ordered), I'm all set! So THANK YOU, Secret Santa from Quebec!

Well, after digging myself out after two snow storms this last week, I finally got to the post office to pick up a parcel. And it was from Fun Games Cafe.

Yes! Secret Santa came through!

After a brief debate, with myself, I decided to open it. If it was wrapped inside, then I would be good until Christmas and not unwrap it.

Darn it!

Thanks Fun Games Cafe for the candy and the dice.

And thanks Secret Santa, I'm sure I'll like it whatever it is.

I only have another week to wait, right?

Update: My Secret Santa sent Yspahan

Thanks again! It's great fun.

"Should we unwrap it or wait until Christmas?" I asked, when I found a little brown package sitting on the doorstep Monday night, sent from Craving for a Game.

Inside the box was a carefully giftwrapped package.

"Um, well, it's the same size and general rattliness as something I already bought you, so perhaps you should open it just in case, and if it is the same, that way I have time to exchange the other thing?" replied my wife. "That, and I can't wait to see what it is."

One of many reasons I love her so.

So we tore into it. "It's gotta be Christmas somewhere in the world right now, right? Wait, that's timezones, not dates...."

And what did we find, but the very pleasant surprise of Fjords, a game my wife and I had played and liked several times at a FLGS, but never got around to buying. My wife was thrilled because she likes the game so much, and I was thrilled at the ingenuity and surprise of the selection.

Thank you, Secret Santa!

A package arrives on the doorstep, the roomies are confounded...who gets deliveries, people shouldn't spend money on packages, they should only spend money on beer! they think to themselves. But little do they know that what is inside the box is christmas gold!

I take the box inside and ponder a bit, should I wait until christmas? to open this? Or should I be greedy and open the box right away? I didn't have to ponder long. some sliced shipping tape later and I had the delicious feeling of digging through styrofoam winter snow. Only to pull out the Deluxe lord of the rings Confrontation! Sweet!

I opened the box and read the rules, seemed like a good solid game, and the bits are great.

I set the shipping box aside and forgot about it. A couple of hours later I went to throw the box away and on a whim I dug around just 'in case' and surprisingly there was a small box buried down there with the shipping slip and a neat little spinny thing.

Tichu! How cool is that. I can't wait to get three other like minded trick taking fans at the table for this one!

Santa rocks! Thank you so very very much!
