The West Australian Boardgaming Association is a not-for-profit collective of gamers who promote board games, and card games, through a range of public events in Western Australia. (We have incorporated and our official rules of membership are available.)
Here is our guild - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/308
Our aims are:
The promotion of boardgames in the West Australian community.
The provision of regular game playing events at community venues
This geeklist is to record the games that have been bought for the WABA collection - games that are available to be played during any of the WABA events.
As a new game is bought for the collection, it will be added to the list so there is an offical record of what is supposed to be there.
This list has videos of how to play many of the games - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/65964/the-dice-tower-v...

Maybe we can come up with the different attributes of a game - for example, number of players, length of time to play, card or board, chance or pure strategy, cheap or expensive, just released or been around for ages - and aim to purchase games so that we have samples from everywhere. Not only will this let us provide newcomers with a wider experience (which could be good, since they may find they prefer, for example, 2-player games that take fifteen minutes to 5-player games that take four hours), but it could also broaden the interests of existing players.
And even if we end up with one or two games that ultimately prove unpopular, well, that's good - it's just as important to know what you don't like playing as it is to know what you do like playing!
