xlhrider started an interesting thread asking the question of which historical battle is the topic of the most wargames. As the thread demonstrates, this is difficult to determine. The idea of this geeklist is to use a 'wiki' strategy and let several users contribute so as to get as complete an accounting as possible.

There will be some debate on which games belong. As a starting point lets use these rules:

If a game is on some aspect of the battle, it belongs on the list. For example, a game about the 20th Maine or Little Round Top belongs on the Gettysburg list, since it obviously indicates an interest in that battle.

If a game is focused on a broader campaign, but simply includes the battle in question, it does not belong on the list. Only if the battle is the primary focus of the game, does it belong. So, for example, A Victory Lost, which includes Stalingrad as abstraction only, does not belong, but Stalingrad Pocket II does, since, while it focused on the outskirts of the battle, the clear design focus is on portraying how the battle on the flanks impacted the overall battle. Obviously, then, games focused on the entire multi-year Eastern Front do not belong on the Stalingrad list either.

Go ahead and include mutliple entries if a game has multiple editions. I think if a game is popular enough to get revised and reprinted, it demonstates an enduring interest in the topic.

We'll have to debate the games a bit to firm up the crieria I think.

The complete list of geeklists in the series can be found here:

Never figured why so many gamers gave this a less than enthusiastic rating. Despite an awful map, the game plays well, and has a nice flow to it. Vastly underrated.

Gettysburg is the main battled featured. However, the reverse side of the game board is a blank hex map so that you can play any battle. Each unit is a division.

A really nice little Euro/wargame hybrid.

This title includes scenarios on the Battle itself as well as the campaign leading up to it and the aftermath.

Really a good game when played using Pat Hirtle's (remember him?) rules on hidden unit deployment published in the AH General.

Picked it up from MMP who was selling the game for it's designer David Martin who basically found a box of them lying around the house or something similar. David Martin by the way is a brilliant scholar on the battle. His book on the first day's fighting at Gettysburg is one of the best written.

I understand this is on the borderline given the definition above, but while it is possible to avoid at battle at Gettysburg itself, there will be a battle and it will be nearby, and it will be almost on the same days, and it will be with almost the exact same forces, and it will have almost the same result.

A replication of the real campaign is certainly possible.

I actually only have about 6 or 7 Gettysburg games. Books on the other hand I will soon need a separate room for.
