Some of you may recall the old RADAR thread I used to keep updated throughout the year (my last one was http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/267112). Well this year I decided to do away with it and just keep a running track of the games I purchased throughout the year. I used to do this on my RADAR but it was alway hit and miss.
So this year, I've kept a detailed list of everything in chronological order of purchase from January 09 through today. I'll continue to update it through the end of the year as well. Over 65% of the games on list list were released in 2009 which makes it a pretty good indicator or the games I thought were good enough to find their way into my collection from this year's crop.
As an aside, I didn't make it to Essen this year though I did get to Europe earlier in October 2009. I just could make the job time coincide with the down time to make it back later in the month for Spiel 09. Though with the money it would have cost me for another ticket, food, and lodging, etc. I probably covered the cost of all my game purchases for this year so far, with the exception of the WotR:CE version (which I'm lucky to be getting as my sole Christmas present from my wife).

My verdict is still out on this one. I got it as a completist and though I enjoy the base game I found it to be very unforgiving of miscalculated bids. Still, this expansion should shake things up a bit for was is otherwise an excellent game.

Finally got a copy of 3rd edition. Got rid of my 1st edition around when the expansion came out. This version is worth it for the extra goodness in the box.

I'd been holding off a while on this but all the review indicate this one improves the game, which is impressive since this was already a good game.

A solid Euro from this year. Some say it's the best use yet of the rondel mechanism in a game.

Indy romping at its best. This one reminds me of the old GW Dungeonquest game but not as chaotic and playing in less time. Still, there can be player eliminations if you get too greedy. I can see new expansions for this one at different dig sites. This is dice rolling fun.

Actually a tri-fecta purchase. I got this one along with the Touch of Evil supplement A Touch of Evil 'The Allies' Supplement and A Touch of Evil ‘The Madness’ Game Supplement. More cards for either of these two great games can't be bad. Also, these expansion are only available from the FFP website. So if you really want the, you'll probably have to support FFP with the purchase directly from them. Again, I'm a completist. Had to have them.

After reading through the rules, this one may earn my "best sports game of the year" award. Plenty of options, no team/league issues to deal with, short play time, and detailed but not overly simple rules moved this from my maybe to must have category.

Deserving of the 2-player abstract of the year award. Interesting card management balanced with a movement mechanism that is both required for card replenishment and tile placement.

A light version of Struggle of Empires. I think this one is more approachable than the former though the theme suffers somewhat because of greater simplicity. Still, this one is still low on luck and high on game play. And, as a fan of all-thing-Wallace I thought it a worthy addition to my collection.

Another Essen 09 "must have" game for me. I like the card management aspect and buildup of forces and the fact that the fortress will fall and it's only a matter of time. A more in-depth version of Castle Panic which I'll pass on but might be a better family game. This one is much more involved on choices.

This one will probably get my vote for the "Solid 7" Euro game of the year. It's SdJ material. Family oriented where anyone has a good chance to win. Higher on luck than strategy but not absent of decision making.

After reading through all the rules, I got this one for the merit of the solo game rules and bits for playing solo. The new characters are nice, the plastic figures are OK but I prefer the stand up to cutouts for this game, and the new boards was a nice touch also. But, this one is worthy to expand the collection of this series for the solo capability and a good explanation on how to integrate all the previous sets into this one as well.

Keeping a good thing going. I'm looking forward to the new D&D master set coming out later this year. Hopefully they'll keep all the points compatible.

I think the base game is one of the better (and tougher) multi-player coop games around. This can only make it better.

Keep up the steady pace. I hope that if I manage to cull some out of my collection and slow down purchases, your collection will once again be larger than mine so that I can tell everyone (especially the spousal unit) that my collection is modest compared to others that I game with.
